The City Upon the Lake

He was exhausted. This trip wore him out and with the fact his… whatever they injected him with… either way it was finally worn off and couldn’t have done it with better timing. The venture across the shore and into the city was actually easier than it would’ve been had he not been doped up on the stuff they knocked him out with, although now that it’d fully worn off Artur felt himself rather sore in the spot. The night had long since crept over the city that was called Ravok of course so the Kelvic more so got to see the city in its own beautifully lit form, for some reason even though he dreaded the idea of living on top of water Artur found that Ravok alone appeared to be quite a beautiful place. And then there was of course the strange change in the atmosphere as the weather no longer felt humid as it did on shore, but at a wonderfully pleasant and moist temperature that quickly relaxed the mind.
Gyatt had taken to lead Artur within the large building that he claimed to be his residence, which looked to be a large three story building with a well kept yard on the front. Once inside the first room looked to be a hallway with a staircase huddled to one side in the middle while the hallway stretched further onward, doorways open to reveal multiple rooms that Gyatt would lead Artur through as he received the “grand tour” as it was called. First the living room was shown which looked to be quite spacious for the man; Gyatt had some odds and ends as well as a couple couches placed with several chairs for a common area to relax in, while the next room which was his office looked to be more of a large private study for the man. In truth Artur found the residence quite an amazing place to be within, even more so when they arrived to find the kitchen area. Large and nicely kept the tidy room felt spacious with wonderfully polished cabinets and cupboards while the hearth remained in the center, an oven built into the wall on the northern side facing towards the hearth.
Then of course the second floor had the rooms that belonged to Gyatt, a few off them actual bedrooms while the others another office or a small library he put together. The third floor wasn’t included in the grand tour but Gyatt’s words were pretty clear, it was up there the man did his work and study in architecture. It was also the floor he wanted Artur to avoid without good reason, unless Gyatt of course invited him up there to begin with of course. Even if Gyatt had purchased Artur, which practically made the Kelvic his property, the man seemed to be rather kind about it compared to what the Kelvic would’ve originally believed. He was not a slave to this man but more or less a servant who would remain indebted to this man, that is until he worked off that debt in servitude for the amount of time he stayed under Gyatt’s roof. Gyatt alone had much to talk about and share with Artur, mainly about Ravok and how beautiful it could really be under the gruff exterior it held towards others. Meaning those who were non-citizens of the city.
"For now Artur no matter what people ask, I want you to assume that I’m your master until then. Truthfully I’m not but we don’t want the rest of Ravok to know that, not until you become a citizen yourself. Understand?" Gyatt’s face held concern for the Kelvic, a kindness the bear felt rare after his time in the prison he dwelled in. Yet even with concern there was still the hint of a forewarning, as though to do or say otherwise would not only end bad for Artur…
"Understood." The bear nodded in compliance as he knew well he was in no position to argue, then again why would he want to argue? He was free! Free from the one place that would’ve just tossed him aside, if not put him down like some wild animal useless to their cause. "Thank you master Gyatt."
"Another thing before we go on…" He intervened momentarily after Artur’s statement. "While you may think me you’re master remember that is not the case, outside these walls you’d do well to remember to say that but while you’re in here, just call me by my name." Tears of happiness practically wanted to well out of Artur, had he not been so exhausted from his day they probably would’ve freely streamed down his cheeks then.
The Kelvic thanked Gyatt once more and the tour continued onward to its end, towards the room Artur would sleep in while he stayed with Gyatt. There wasn’t much in it as it looked pretty plain and barren, but what little it did have already made the room itself feel all the more like a new home… compared to his cell back in the facility. Artur didn’t have much but over time he would likely obtain more essentials, mainly clothes when he was given the chance and some toiletries on the side. After being cleaned off and on so much the bear started to find his self rather prone to enjoy cleanliness. What furniture mainly resided within was but a bed and an open empty footlocker, along with a dresser and mirror placed in a corner near the window. Next to the bedside was a small table for whatever would be thrown upon it, although the surface looked to be clean save for a gathering of dust.
