Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

[White Crane] Out on the town

"I will have to.. think about it Kavala. Part of me doesn't want to know what happened all those years ago. I suppose it is an excuse, but I will think about it. I promise. The other part wants desperately to know." Xira replied to Kavala's offer to find Temur. It was incredibly tempting. To finally know and put to rest what happened. What if he died? Would that cast his frustration and anger over the years in an unjust light? Would he be vindicated? That would be bittersweet. To know that he was right being angry, but knowing deep down, that his presence couldn't be stood any longer than it did.

He looked at Kavala, like he felt he had many times since he met her. She was a fascinating person. Calm, pleasant, strong-willed. A great conversational partner. Far better than himself, that was for sure. They talked of Caelum, the college and himself. Her words warmed him, lifted him up and made him smile tenderly back at her. It was good to be a part of a family, however adopted and oddly grouped together they were. Granted, it was difficult to respond to being called a good person. Did one respond in kind? Did one thank them? Did one deny it out of true or false humility? He was certainly appreciative of it no matter the case. He chose respectful silence and nodded to her his understanding and appreciation.

"I do not believe that anyone has ever done this for you. You? A gorgeous woman? Surely all the men were doting on you before I came along." The courier did belive her, but he was being playful. It was a terrible crime not to take a lover and not do nice things for them. Kavala had obviously taken on lovers before, married or not, and Xira had low opinions of these other men who did not do the decent thing for their partner. He pulled her hand and arm closes against his side and smiled at her, "If this is truly your first time, then we will have to make to memorable. You deserve nice things, Kavala. After all the good you do and people's lives you enrich."

They walked, arm in arm down the streets and stairs. They spoke of the Cytali, though Kavala was the one to do much of the speaking. He nodded at the explanation. "I... think I understand. You mentioned the Chavi before, what is that? I mean, it makes perfect sense. I've often desired to go beyond the stone walls of my home, and here I am. Among the city of water and beauty." He looked about, gesturing to the buildings around them.

"I admit that when I first met you there was a certain... what's the word, resonance? I felt as if I knew you somehow, that we had met before. If this is true, then it might be simply that, our relation in our past lives. Amazing really... to think we should meet again, by chance. Fate." He gave Kavala a small smile, a bit overawed by the implications of it all. "Our magic could be proof itself. I learned from talking to your cousin that Initiations can fail spectacularly, that death was a very real threat if not, it is crippling. But... it was beautiful, we were..." He said the next part softly, for only her ears, "One. If only briefly. I imagine that for anyone else that would not happen."

At last they made it to the White Crane. It was a strange structure, very circular and round. A difficult architectural feat, he imagined when beams of wood are best for straight lines and figures made from such straight lines. Now was the time to unveil his clever plan. Xira had actually planned this event out in advanced, he had gone to Aena days before and made reservations. Partly it was to impress Kavala, but that was close second to actually doing something nice for her. She was good to him, and he wanted to return the favor.

The two were recognized by the owner and led up the stairs to one of the coveted spots on the balcony. "Kavala, I wanted you to know" He started as the came up the stairs to the table that was set with cutlery and plates, a bottle of wine waiting for them. "That our time together, not even a third of the season, means a lot to me." He offered to push in the chair for Kaval before taking his own seat. Once he sat down he continued, "Everyone, Kelvics, your family, Caelum, have been so welcoming to what amounts to a stranger. Its... almost too much. I am so grateful to have met you and the others. This dinner is a poor expression of that appreciation, but please I hope you will enjoy it."

The White Crane was known for its food, its lavish setting and its music. They were early for the evening's entertainment, but not so much for the food and drink. The waiter gave the couple a moment to settle in before she descended upon them with a hearty smile inquiring on what they desired to eat.
