General Information
Name: Shanti
Birthday/Age: Spring 507 AV; 3 years old
Race: Kelvic
Animal: Amur Leopard

Appearance

Shanti stands at 5'5", with a slim and slightly curvy figure, weighing 127 pounds. Her skin is a sun-kissed, healthy tan color, wrapping around toned but subtle muscles. Her hair is a beautiful golden blonde and is cut rather carelessly into layers and her bangs stop just above her vivid golden eyes. one side of her hair is cut to be barely longer than the rest of her hair, dipping down and brushing along the side of her neck, while the rest is a relatively uniform length.

Like her feline form, her pupils have retained their slit shape and dilate accordingly to the light. Her lips are full and slightly pink, sitting under a perfectly straight nose.

Her body is well proportioned, though her hips are slightly wider than the average, but it isn't noticeable with clothing on.

Her expressions range greatly from situation to situation; though when neutral seem almost lost and melancholic while still retaining her beauty. When watching people, as she often does, her face gains a sort of "predatory" look; almost as if she's hunting.

Her typical dress isn't anything out of the ordinary, and at the time being she'd wear anything she could afford. She prefers clothes in white, black, or earthy tones, though when she wants feels the need she wears brighter, more noticeable colors.

Character Concept

Shanti isn't a recluse, despite having trust issues. The way she sees it, you can be friendly without being friends. Due to her mother's dependency on men, she dislikes them for the most part. She does understand, however, that there are exceptions to everything. She constantly is fighting the urge to be an obedient little pet, like her mother was, and has made it one of her goals to think for herself and become independent.

History

Shanti is an only child. Born in Alvadas in the spring of 507 AV to a Kelvic mother and father. Shortly after her birth her father left, never to be seen again, and left her mother to take care of Shanti.

Being a Kelvic, Shanti's mother was a very dependant woman, and spent most of their time searching for another partner. Day after day, her mother would go out into the town hoping some man would notice her and take her home, leaving little Shanti to fend for herself. At a young age she learned the basics of cooking, sewing, and other home skills.

By her first year, Shanti was well aware of how pathetic her mother’s dependency was, and realized that she was the same way. She constantly craved the same things her mother did, and she constantly fought the urge to let someone else live her life for her. She didn't want to be like her mother, but every fiber of her being was telling her to do the opposite.

She had grown to hate men, by age two, as she watched her mother dwindle down to a needy, dependant woman. In her mind they were what caused her mother to become like this. It was breaking her heart to see her mother come home, sigh loudly, slink into her favorite chair, and sit for the rest of the night. Her mother wasn't getting any younger, and she was becoming more and more fragile. Shanti continued to take care of herself, and now her mother, with her basic skills as best she could.

Shanti, on the other hand, had blossomed into a beautiful young woman, and she was most certainly catching the eye of a few men around her home. To the disappointment of the men, she was completely uninterested in finding a "master", or anything of the sort.

The time was Summer 509 AV, Shanti was a fully developed young woman at the age of 3. Her hair was pulled back into a tight bun, just the way her mother liked it, and her bright gold eyes were downcast. From head to toe she was wearing black. Her body felt heavy, and every emotion she had never wanted to feel had suddenly filled her every fiber. She was heading home from her mother’s funeral.

The sky had darkened; clouds covered the blue sky, dark grey and ominous. Thunder rolled in the distance. It seemed almost as if the weather had reflected the storm that had been stirring within her.

She headed home, no candles were lit, the windows were dark and one could have seen clearly into the house because there were no curtains. It was cold, dark, bare, and suddenly unwelcoming. No possessions littered the shelves and tables like they had just days before. The kitchen was bare, pots and pans all missing from the picture. The floors were bare stone, no carpets or rugs to cover them, and no furniture around the darkened fireplace.

With trembling fingers, Shanti lit a nearby candle and made her way further into the house to what had been her room.

Folded neatly on the floor were what little possessions she had decided to keep. A few changes of clothes, most of them simple and well worn, a leather purse filled with a few gold coins, a pack of food that would last her a few weeks, and nestled on top of it all was a simple, beautiful ruby necklace. It was her mother’s necklace.

Shanti walked over to the folded clothes and kneeled down in front of them; she set the candle down and gently picked up the necklace from its spot on top of her possessions. As she ran her thumb gently over the ruby gem, tears started to fall down her cheeks, landing in dark spots on the dirty stone floor beneath her.

She put the necklace on, slipping it around her neck and fastening the clasp. The chain was simple, silver and delicate, and the length made it dip just under her collarbones. The ruby was a bright, deep red color.

Gathering her belongings and drying her eyes, Shanti headed out of the house and closed the door behind her.

Soon after her mother’s death, a mere two days, she left her home of Alvadas, leaving everything she was familiar with behind, and moved to Syliras.

Odds and Ends

  • Her human-form teeth slightly resemble her leopard teeth, but it's not very noticeable.
  • She rarely talks about her past when it has to do with her mother.
  • She is beautiful, but she doesn't see it in herself. She brushes off complements because she thinks that they're just trying to manipulate her.
  • Her eyes change color depending on what she's wearing. When wearing earthy tones her eyes have a slight blue hint to them.
  • Like her feline form, she loves to stalk and to go unnoticed. She has an interest in thieves and assassins, but hasn't seriously considered becoming either of them.
  • She cannot read or write.
  • She has never had alcohol in her entire life.
  • Her necklace.
