Basic * Information Name: Serenity Kora Gender: Female Age: 18 Years Old Birthday: Summer, 25th day 495 AV Birth in: Mura
Physical * Appearance At first glance, Serenity seems very intense and serious. Her dark ice green eyes seem to pierce into you, and her long, slightly curly light brown/chocolate hair frames her pale face. Serenity is pretty, just like all other Konti women, though something about her makes you want to look at her twice, uncertain if the urge is good or bad. She has a petite 5'3" figure and very slender. Her body is quite supple, but muscular in few places and her arms are strong and can hold quite a substantial weight. She walks with a dancers grace, lithe and agile, though she has never shown any interest in dancing. Serenity's scales are have a pallid pink hue, but for most part are the silvery white of most other Konti women.
Character Concept Serenity has a very shy personality, and is slow to trust. Because of her shyness, Serenity does not speak much on first meetings, instead, she prefers to observe the other party and appears as a bit of a mystery. She is eager and quick to learn. Upon learning new information, she holds onto it, for a long time. Once Serenity has made a friend, she is a loyal girl, not prone to gossiping or conniving. She tries to always be available when someone needs a friend, but understands she can't always stretch herself too thin.
Serenity is good at pretending that the world around her doesn't exist, and making up her own fictional worlds whenever there is something painful happening around her. 'Day-dreamer' is what she is commonly described as. She has always wanted to travel outside Mura, the island being the place she grew up and where she has stayed all her life. She has always wanted to see the outside world, and discover what lies behind the boundaries of the sheltered home she lives in. She also likes to live in other's world, often observing the actions and antics of others, and finding joy in even the smallest things they do.
Serenity holds great affection for children, finding their bubbling innocence and curiosity, a breath of fresh air from everyone else.
History At a young age, Serenity's mother died of a mysterious illness, leaving her to be looked after by her kind aunt. She did not know that her aunt was actually a foster mother, until the age of 11. By then, as Serenity had not known her mother well, the blow did not affect her as much. Later in life, though, Serenity began doubting the credibility of other things her aunt told her. Other than her troubled parenting, Serenity had a peaceful and sheltered upbringing. As a Konti, she trained with the other girls in Fortune Telling and Medicine. However, unlike her name suggested, Serenity still felt unsettled and felt a deep unrest within her, despite the calmness of her life. Her aunt, Isadore, was reluctant to let her outside, and instilled from a young age that she mustn't go anywhere without anyone in sight. She was also drilled time and time again that she should not go off Mura. As only natural, Serenity began becoming curious about the world outside, though she never has seen it. What Serenity did not know, was that this was a very weak example of the call. Later in life, she would feel it again. Serenity was also fascinated by martial arts from a very young age. By the time she was ten, she had become a master of almost all techniques, quickly rising to the top of her class. To her, martial arts was more of a comfort, a security blanket. It was something that could reassure her that she would be safe at all times. She went on to train extensively in Suvai, and then unarmed combat. Quickly, it filled up all her time, but at the age of fifteen, once again, she felt the unruly feeling deep within her. Again, Serenity decided to take up glass blowing, more of as more of a hobby and something that she was fascinated by. Isadore, was a competent glassblower, and often, Serenity would go and watch her, mesmerized by the captivating beauty of the smooth glass. She took lessons from Isadore, quickly picking up the basics of the art. Regretfully, her own pieces were not as beautiful as she would have hoped, and compared to the other Konti women, hers seemed crude, dull and lacking in contrast. At this stage of her life, everything was smooth for Serenity. She would block out the feeling, the need to travel by occupying herself with another chore, another hobby and it worked well for her. As she took up different tasks, many were forgotten, but not Suvai. To her, the weapon was one of her only friends, the glimmering blade the only one who understood the unrest within her. After a long day, Serenity would spend the evening, practicing with her blade.
However, the call that had been goading her before could no longer be ignored. On Serenity’s eighteenth birthday, she felt the urge to travel outside and broaden her horizons. She felt compelled to visit the world and was driven by wanderlust. Isadore, seeing the changed look on her face, the same as on the child’s mothers, immediately brought her to the Healer Temple. To this day, Serenity still does not understand the look of horror on Isadore’s face, when they told her that she was affected by the call, meaning Avalis wanted her for something special or it was time to find her mate.
It was then, that Serenity first discovered that Isadore was not her real mother. To her credit, Serenity did not lash out at her aunt, realizing the promise Isadore had sworn to her mother. Over the next weeks, Isadore begged her not to go. Serenity was told stories of the brutish, rough and uncivilized people who lived outside the comfort of Mura. Justice and ethics were words who had lost their meaning in the outside world and those living there knew not of the peacefulness of the sea and the calm feeling of it in their veins. Serenity became more and more apprehensive about venturing into those lands, scared of what it may bring.
Serenity is now torn between heeding the call and staying under Isadore’s protection. Roaming Mura, she feels unsettled, and like she needs to be elsewhere. She currently lives in a medium sized house built on Mura, near the edge of the Island, overlooking the sea.

NPCs Name: Isadoe Gender: Female Age: 85Years Old Relation to Serenity: Aunt Birth in: Mura Brief history: Isadore and Serenity's mother were close sisters at birth. However, like Serenity, her mother had felt the Call early on in life. Her mother had disappeared, and shortly after, Isadore was left with just a small note and a baby. Isadore never had the heart to tell Serenity that her mother had abandoned her, and so she raised it as her own. Isadore taught Serenity all of the skills she could use later in life, hoping to keep her busy, hoping to spare her the same fate as her mother. |
