The geometry of the circle written upon the parchment was perplexing to the tall sorceress as she regarded it upon the table, grey eyes scanning over it closely. Three different circles, each possessing their own purpose and meaning in the whole array but where useless without the others. What did it all mean, the concept of circles? So many world magics she had seen or heard off made use of circles and in that the tall woman could not help but notice interconnectivity. Malediction circles, Summoning circles, and Animation circles… what did it all mean and how then could one harness the knowledge of what they meant in their favor?
Logically, looking down at the drawn minimalist circle Anna assumed that it had something to do with a circuit to be completed. When she put her blood upon the circle, Anna knew that it was so that her Djed would charge the circle to open the Portal in the indicated coordinates. The circle provided a constant circuit, no beginning and no end until it was ended by time or the wizard in question. Was that the meaning then? Was that why so many world magics used circles, to make a never ending circuit or was it something else entirely?
The tall woman sighed and pushed away from the table, looking over the cleared lab space for today and drumming her fingers over her chin in contemplation. The space was wide enough for a summoning and the supplies were nearby, still the sorceress felt she was missing something. A particular something that had red hair, freckles over her body, and a spirit that still remained somewhat strong. Her newest slave and Test Subject, Edreina, now known as Test Subject 1A. Every great wizard had assistants in their little projects after all, and otherwise Edreina would be a pointless drain upon her resources.
Anna strode through Common Laboratory 14B, moving towards a flight of stairs she knew to be nearby to her that would lead down to the ground floor below. Little observer golems wheeled along underfoot, their glass eyes seeing all that transpired around them. A strange place, most would find Sahova with its golems and undead but the sorceress was quickly feeling familiar with the place. She was not sure whether or not that was something that comforted her, to get used to living in a place where living was near impossible by default.
Rather common clothing adorned her this day, a simple brown tunic, trousers and sandals making up her attire. Her long dark hair was done up into a high ponytail, slight dark circles around her eyes symbolizing her lack of sleep as of late. A pair of golden earring dangled from her earlobes, one in the shape of a crescent moon and the other in that of the sun. Twisting around her right ring finger was a silver ring with the sigil of a burning scroll upon it, rubies glinting along the edges nicely in the magelight. It was the sign of her rank, that of a full Wizard of the Sahovan Citadel.
Anna stepped upon the ground floor easily, striding through the Gug Andjak with practiced ease and out toward the Courtyard. The sounds and sights of magical industry gave way to swirling mists and seemingly distant cries. Gravestones marked the path along to the Quarters, and it seemed to be the only place where grass and vegetation grew naturally. The sorceress occasionally felt a tugging and pulling upon her clothes, but it was ignored for the most part. Another norm of living upon the island of the undead.
The path eventually led into the Sahova Quarters, where the tall woman immediately ascended up a flight of nearby stairs in the rather vacant building. From here she started down the hall towards her room, where one of her prized possessions upon Sahova now existed. It did not take her long to arrive at the door; once she did the tall woman merely opened the door and bathed the dark room in the light of the outside. She would then fold her arms under her breasts and stare down into the room at wherever her Test Subject had placed herself.
“Test Subject 1A. I require your presence in one of my experiments. Get up and grab that journal over there. You can write Common, yes?” The sorceress said, her tone smooth like honey but bearing and undercurrent of frost as it was evident she had not entirely forgotten yesterday’s incident.
