Serenity Kora

There was a peaceful atmosphere in the air when Serenity made her way to the bank of the Silver Lake. A warm breeze made its way to her, gently rippling the surface of the water, caressing her pale skin. The moonlight which reflected on her scales made their unique, pink hue shimmer in the night. For a while, Serenity sat there, on the edge of the lake, reveling in the nothingness of silence. The only sound was the faint murmur of the Bountiful Sea, whose arms reached into the lake's silvery depths. Reaching down, Serenity dipped the fingers of her hand into the lake, smiling softly as they dragged against the placid water. The feeling calmed her and lulled her troubled mind. For the past few weeks, Serenity had been battling that unsettled feeling in her, she knew she had to go, some invisible force pulling her towards elsewhere. Her aunt, Isadore had been trying to keep her busy, but everything had just washed over her head. Turbulence and unrest raged inside of her, and lately, it had been harder to try and control the impulse.
Behind her, the swishing sound of the land and trees rubbing against each other echoed through the dying wind. Deciding that she had procrastinated long enough, she got to her feet, standing slowly. Dusting her faded black cloak, Serenity reached under the material to find the two Suvai twin swords that she had inherited from her mother. Though her Suvai fighting was at a satisfactory level, Serenity had always been a perfectionist. Nothing less could be acceptable, and so, one lonely nights like this, she came to practice her skill. It hadn't just occurred to her, that the Silver Lake was the ideal training ground. She wasn't actually sure what it was about the place. Perhaps, it was the closeness that it had to her name. Something about it felt right.
As the stars danced on prettily in the night sky, Serenity practiced her technique, flowing from one movement to another. Her motions were still shaky, and after a short while, her chest heaved. But she continued to push herself, wanting to get the last blow, the last slice through the air.
Not long after, she collapsed on the ground. Her bones screamed in protest whenever she tried moving them, aching from the vigorous exercise she had put them through. But the dull throbbing in her temple, incessantly insisting that she should be elsewhere did not stop. Panicking, she clutched her temple. It always stopped whenever she worked herself too hard. So why hadn't it now?
Resorting to simply just lying there, Serenity decided to wait it out. Sure enough, the ache faded back to being in the background - lost in the whirlpool of thoughts.
Slowly regaining her strength, Serenity stood up, taking one last look at the place where Avalis had supposedly cried tears of happiness and joy. It finally sunk in, the truth which she had known for all this time. She could no longer spend her days here. It was time to heed the Call. |
