Solo Helping around the Den

[Drusilla]

1st day of Spring 514 Drusilla sat quietly, a sharp piece of one of the stalactites in hand. She waited for her prey to make a move. Baited with some stale bread, Drusilla sat out of sight of a large rat hole in the wall of the cave. She had been hunting these behemoths of rats her entire time here at the den, and they were getting smart to her. While the deks that hid in the den saw the rats as nothing but irritating nuisances, Drusilla saw them as an easy target to hunt for food. She was full for the first time in what seemed like forever thanks to these rats. Today however she wasn't hunting for herself but for her dek cavemates, which meant she couldn't simply bite them as the venom would cause the rat to liquefy. So biting was out of the question. Drusilla had found a splinter of a stalactite, a nice sharp one too. A perfect weapon! Well, for rat hunting anyway... A small movement and a noise from within the hole made Drusilla hold her breath in anticipation.Come on, come on, take the bait! Petchin' rats! She would have to be quick, as soon as it stuck it's head out she'd have to strike. This would be the last time for awhile she hunt this nest. There were plenty more, then once the rats let their guard down she'd be back to bait them again. It was a cycle the rats couldn't win and the deks were just fine with that. Drusilla's arrival and hunting had brought an influx of food via the rats. They were being stubborn today, but Drusilla was a patient hunter. She'd get her kill.
