Secret :
Surprisingly Anna looked perfectly calm staring down at the document in her fingers, the Apprentice that had delivered it looking rather nervously around. Grey eyes ran over every single letter, the inky words committed to memory as this was her third time looking through the letter’s contents. The tall dark haired woman was silent, her muscles perfectly relaxed and her expression blank as blank could possibly get. Her gaze never left the document, and when her eyes beheld the name signed at the end she merely started from the top once more and worked her way back down. After looking at the name for the fourth time she seemed to be satisfied with her examination.
Calmly and deliberately the tall sorceress turned the fine parchment on its side and slowly started to rip it downwards, the tearing sound causing the hunched Apprentice to flinch. She then turned the two pieces over again and tore them down the middle once more to create fourths, and then once more to make 8 pieces of parchment. This accomplished the tall dark haired woman simply allowed them to fall from her fingers to the ground, tugging on her Djed to force translucent purple res from her body and to wash over each individual piece. She willed them to ignite, the amount of Djed used as insignificant as reaching for a cup of tea.
The purple flames slowly consumed the fragments of parchment on the floor of the Quarters, and it was only then that she turned her attention upon the Apprentice that had brought it to her. He was looking at her as though she was some kind of monster and Anna would be lying if she said that the sweat upon his brow did not bring her a petty sense of pleasure. Her lips turned upwards into a sickly sweet smile that somehow managed to gain a sinister light given the events here, the purple light still flickering between them.
“Now then, thank you for bringing this letter to me, Apprentice. When you return to the Overseer you will tell him that I thank him for his forthrightness and his verdict, while regrettable is entirely understandable. Inform him that he should expect a visit and a personal apology from me later the next season at the earliest after I tend to matters of a more personal nature in the Testing Grounds.” Anna said, her sandaled feet sweeping through the fresh ashes and crossing the distance between her and the Apprentice.
The hunched man nodded eagerly, overly so to Anna’s eye and no doubt he simply wanted to be away from the much taller woman. He attempted to turn and leave, but Anna’s hand shot out and gripped his shoulder tightly as her grey eyes looked directly into his. Her expression had shifted into one much more dangerous, with her eyes narrowed and her lips turned down into a severe frown. Her thumb dug into the point where his shoulder joint met his arm, causing him to squirm a little as he met her gaze. Within her eyes a trace of madness could be found, swimming just beneath the surface.
“You will be sure to tell him in my exact words, yes? I would be most… displeased if I were to hear otherwise on the matter. Most displeased indeed.” The tall woman said, holding his gaze for a moment longer.
The man nodded frantically and she released him, allowing him to all but scramble his way out of the hallway of the Quarters. Magic had its uses, especially magic at her level of skill and the height of her kind of power. Intimidating those beneath one was but a single use of magic; however it was often the most entertaining to witness. Of this matter brought to her attention though, it was most certainly not amusing and it was only too soon before a displeased scowl crossed her features. Her eyes glared daggers down at the scattered ashes upon the ground and dirtying her feet, the words upon them vexing her quite a bit.
The tall woman cross her arms under her breasts, thinking over the implications of this little bit of information. It was not too terrible all told, soon enough she would have a personal workspace to call her own and would have zero need of the Common Labs. Still, there were some advantages to utilizing the Common Labs in her research such as the lack of need to spend money herself. Certainly she had Voided a number of items, but it was nothing compared to the supplies used or destroyed on but one Judgment day.
Still, she could not refute the Overseer’s verdict at the moment unless she perhaps attempted to appeal to the Council to overrule him and she wanted to do that as much as she wanted to eat her own fireballs. No, the best idea was to do as she just had done and attempt to at least placate the Overseer no matter how distasteful. It was the political thing to do, especially considering her ambitions upon the position of Master one day. If she made too many enemies then not even the blessing of Rhysol would be able to save her from the grave she would dig. It was bad enough to have Goron Silverheart counted as a foe.
However the letter did not deter Anna from continuing to pursue her Voiding research, it just meant that she would need to find a new local to experiment. Her lab would not be prepared until at least next season, and tomorrow was when she was to journey into the Heartlands once more to undergo whatever initiations Kierra Doma had in store for her. Outside did not sound like a terrible alternative all things taken and considered for what they were worth. The Testing Grounds were dangerous, but Anna was confident in her abilities to handle most kinds of danger.
