TBD, Spring, 514av
It was a bright and sunny day out among the trees of the southern woodlands, and Antar was taking a short break from the duties of his job by taking a sip of water from his flask. He had filled it earlier from a pot of water he had boiled for purification after it was taken from one of the natural springs in the woods and truly he did not mind the extra effort as he ate his small meal by the side of the wagon.
Dawnstride, one of his horses rested as she was tied to a nearby branch. At her snout a bucket of water he had taken the same cares to ensure was drinkable for the animal. Of course, he had taken care of the animal's needs before his own. But it had been worth it.
The water was some of the best he had ever tasted... if water could be said to have a taste. It was cool, refreshing, and just the thing he needed to get back onto his feet for the rest of the day. If he was lucky, his eyes and his bow might even find some animal for the stewpot before he traipsed back home to his tent.
But for now, the task of clearing a few deadfall trees was necessary to clear some space for the wagons that brought the logs back to the carver brothers for processing was left to him. No wood was to be wasted in his task, unless it was rotted clear through his instructions were to salvage and recycle some of the oldest fallen trees just to see if he could.
It was a challenge of sorts, as it was given at least once every two months to any worker the Carvers had. But it was a sign of trust to be left unsupervised to tend to the task alone. Antar didn't mind so long as there was no enemy out in the woods waiting to ambush him, the task was relaxing to have a day at work without needing to yoke himself under the auspices of one of the older workers. That had happened once or twice in the past, so he was always rather careful.
Still, it was proving to be a great day so far.
