The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Day of Spring, 514 AV-
Alheas Park- Night

Ayrui walked on the trail, looking around. Despite it’s non-descript entryway, she could see why people would still come here. Everything here looked as if it had been from a fairytale, with the lights, the roses, everything. It felt like it too, with all the djed that she felt that was flying all around. She kept going.

There weren’t any people, she realized, but it was pretty late. She stopped, and looked around, checking, when a bug flew up right in her face. She jumped back, moving her hands to her face, and it flew away. She sighed, and turned back, and saw a massive swarm of bugs, similar to fireflies. Their lights were different, always shifting, rather than the same colour of dull yellow.

Her put her hand out into the skies above where the bugs were, and rather than one hopefully landing on her hand, they move up where even she couldn’t manage to reach. A blush rose upon her cheeks, feeling a bit childish. Thankfully, no one saw her, hopefully. She took another glance back, and she moved from the swarm of fireflies.

Eventually, she found a small pond, with a few benches made of skyglass. The glass made the dark blue lights from the sky reflect, making rainbows cast. This park felt like something from a fairytale, really. The lights, the wild djed, the sights.. It felt like she was a fairy, or some magical creature that lived in a world with no problems, and part of her wanted to stay here forever, but she knew she couldn’t.

It's been nine years since Kaik last visited Alheas park with Ellen, it still hasn't changed since he last saw it. The ethereal blue glow of the park and the prismfly were a nostalgic sight, but didn't captivate Kaik. Ever since his childhood he questioned the beauty of Lhavit, never truly understanding what people saw in this place.

Memories of Ellen dragging him along to play in the park become vivid as he walks alone in the park. He left Arya at home, wanting to dwell on his thoughts by himself. His wishes were not granted as he spots a figure in the distance.

He continues walking the trail at a slow pace and a distance away from the person, keeping his eyes on the stranger. As he approaches it became more evident this stranger was a female, she looked quite young as well. Kaik notices her hands were outstretched toward a swarm of prismfly, the prismfly fly higher. He chuckles at the girl's attempt reminding him of Ellen doing the same and being met with the same results.

What was a young girl doing alone at the park at night? He thought. Kaik usually stayed out of the affairs of others and this was no exception. Kaik kept walking on the trail, which lead him closer to the girl than before. He keeps his hood down and continues to keep walking. A sudden realization came to him I look like a thief don't I? leather armor, a hood, an assassin's dagger at his side...he looked more like a killer than a thief. When he bought the armor and dagger it was for protection, he was a cautious man, and the hood? to help cover up the wounds on his neck. I have to tell her I'm not some criminal! He turns around and walks toward the stranger.

He pulls down his hood and says to the stranger, "Um...I- er...I know I look like a criminal but I'm not! I'm not up to anything bad! Really!...so don't call for the Shinya, because I really am not a criminal!" He meant well, but somehow he felt he made himself even more suspicious.

"...Name! Right!...m-my name is Kaik, Kaik Leyr," He said, "So umm...what's your name?"

As she sat, she heard a faint rustling sound. She looked back, feeling her muscles tense slightly, and she turned. She stood up from the chair, looking at the figure behind her. The man wore leather armor, a hood and an assassin's dagger. A thief? Or maybe something worse..? Couldn't be- why would anyone want to prey on some girl that didn't look rich, and wasn't at all anyway? She took a few steps back, as the man took a few more steps forward. About to bark some remark that probably wasn’t really smart the current situation for him to get out, the man pulled down his hood.

The man had some scars on his neck, along with some smaller ones along his hands. Her expression softened somewhat at them, but she was still ready to run if needed. "Um...I- er...I know I look like a criminal but I'm not! I'm not up to anything bad! Really!...so don't call for the Shinya, because I really am not a criminal!” She took another step back, warily."...Name! Right!...m-my name is Kaik, Kaik Leyr," he said, after a slight pause, "So umm...what's your name?" She opened her mouth to spit out a "I'm going to totally tell you!" with full sarcasm before dashing off, but a small glow around him appeared. Right.. Auristics. She couldn't really get used to the fact that a simple girl like her used magic, and she didn't even know how she managed to get it.. She tried to just jump thoughts and just think about now. A small, light-ish glow came from him- his aura. The color was a dull-ish yellow, if that made sense. It felt like something trying to reform, and still trying to do so with determination.

She forced her muscles to relax, hoping it was okay, and the man wasn’t trying with determination to kill her. "Ayrui. Nice to meet you, I guess..." She paused awkwardly, forcing her legs to take steps forward, a bit slow. She took a seat at the skyglass seat, and an awkward pause was in the air. "So, what are you doing here so late? Don't see much people out much at this time." As she spoke, she remained a bit tense, even though auras never did lie. Never ever.

Kaik stood in front of the girl nervous, the thought of going to court very clear in his mind. The girl was about to say something, but refrains from doing so. Instead she introduces herself as Ayrui, Kaik let's his worry dim. It looked like he wouldn't being going to prison.

Ayrui takes a seat on the skyglass bench, asking him a question. He felt like asking the same of her, she was definitely younger than him even if she was a few inches taller than him, so what was she doing alone in the park at night? He wasn't in the best position to ask her so he was forced to answer the question. Kaik hesitated to answer the question. Still he works up the nerve to say something.

"I-...I'm here to...enjoy the park, it holds a lot of...memories for me," He said, "I don't really like crowds, so I come to the park when it's not so busy." He said the truth, he was hopeful she wouldn't pry into his words.

Kaik decided it'd be better if he didn't take a seat on the bench. He thought it would make the situation even more weird than it already was. The question of what she was doing in the park alone lingered in his mind.Well it couldn't hurt to ask...I think.

"So...Ayrui...what's a young girl doing alone in the park at night?" As he asked, Kaik was starting to feel less nervous, though this only helped his speech slightly.

By the way he had said memories, she judged it was a pretty bad one. She was curious, but she was nice enough to simply just let it go- for now, at least. She also disliked crowds- pushing through them was like pushing through a mud wall, slowly getting through. She became a night owl because of this, mostly. The only disadvantage was that sometimes she didn’t manage to get to the shops in time before they closed, which was annoying.

"So...Ayrui...what's a young girl doing alone in the park at night?” She shrugged. “I prefer going out at night, less crowds. Only drawback is that sometimes the shops close. And I drink coffee a lot. It helps.” She awkwardly sat again, looking at the pond. “What memories..?” She asked cautiously, looking distantly. “It’s okay if you don’t want to answer, I guess..” Hopefully the term ‘curiosity killed the cat’ didn't apply now. She didn't want to be killed, after all.

He was slightly amused with her response, actually the thought of some coffee sounded nice to him at the moment. Then she asked the dreaded question. Of course she was going to ask about the memories...I should be over it by now...It shouldn't be a big deal...but... he begun debating if he should tell her or not. She even said I didn't have to answer but...it's okay me, I should just tell her.

"Well when I was a kid my friend would always come dragging me to this park...she really liked painting here, all sorts of stuff to look at...heh, I even remember her reaching out for the prismfly, they were only a few inches away from her yet she still couldn't catch them," he said.

Kaik couldn't help but looked into the lake, he started to smile as he saw Ellen's face...but then he started to grimace as all the bad memories began to surface.

"...I never understood what's so beautiful about this city...it looks so bland to me...hey Ayrui...do you know what's so beautiful about this city? Cause I just don't see it." he asked, trying to take his mind off the past.

"Well when I was a kid my friend would always come dragging me to this park...she really liked painting here, all sorts of stuff to look at...heh, I even remember her reaching out for the prismfly, they were only a few inches away from her yet she still couldn't catch them," She raised her brows when he mentioned painting. This place was good for painting, she realized, combined with the light and everything. The environment helped a lot. The plants in Lhavit were very exotic and beautiful, which helped..

Kaik grimaced as he stared at the water. Thinking about the past, probably, with the look of nostalgia. "...I never understood what's so beautiful about this city...it looks so bland to me...hey Ayrui...do you know what's so beautiful about this city? Cause I just don't see it." She blinked. “Lhavit.. is wonderful, really. There’s magic everywhere, like here. I can feel all the wild djed all around me, and the place here.. it’s absolutely beautiful. That’s probably why your..” She stopped midsentence, and sighed. “Sorry. But yeah. There’s a reason why a lot of people come here to visit. There’s a reason why this city is called the Diamond of Kalea, you know.” She grinned a bit.

She mused about what she just said, and realized he couldn’t feel the wild djed at all. He didn’t have auristics, probably, or any kind of magic.. “Can you feel the djed? If not, I can teach you how to. It’s pretty easy, for me at least.” He still kept that nostalgic look on his face, and she kind of wanted him to smile at least once here. It wasn’t right, for a guy to be constantly thinking about the past, but then again, she really didn’t know how to feel- she had no such thing as past.

Kaik dwells on her words, he admitted this city did have some good points...he could practice his magic freely here. Was he the only one in this city that thought this place wasn't as beautiful as people say it is? It certainly felt like it, even Ellen could see the charm of this city, so why couldn't he?

Ayrui asks him a question, "Can you feel the djed? If not, I can teach you how to. It’s pretty easy, for me at least." Djed? The very word made him question who this girl was. Normal people refer to djed as magic...but this girl said djed instead of magic, he knew she was a magic user. Who taught this girl magic at such a young age? he thought. Magic is a useful tool, but the consequences were death...perhaps even worse.

Kaik was an animator, he was familiar with djeds presence in his work. He started to feel caution was necessary around this girl, he knew from stories that not every single wizard was sane. He tried to reason with himself that she looked sane, but appearances don't tell everything about a person.

He did notice the djed of this place, as should every practitioner of magic...so he was confused as to what she had to teach him. Curiosity began to eat away his caution. He decided to reintroduce himself to her, meeting another magician deserved a more formal introduction...especially if he could learn something new.

While bowing he says, "I didn't realize you were a magic user....let me reintroduce myself...Kaik Leyr, a world mage practicing in animation...I would be honored to learn what I can from you."

He realized that working as a world mage has made him strive for knowledge, even if it caused him more trouble than good.

Auristics

Postby Ayrui on June 2nd, 2014, 1:29 am

The man looked perplexed, and she frowned, then after a long moment that seemed like a few minutes, but in reality a few seconds, he finally answered, to her growing impatience. He suddenly bowed, and she stared at him for a few seconds, surprised, as he said, "I didn't realize you were a magic user....let me reintroduce myself...Kaik Leyr, a world mage practicing in animation...I would be honored to learn what I can from you." It sounded so formal, so different from what she’d seen a few moments ago. She had heard of Animation before, but she wasn’t really interested from it. “So formal. I know Auristics, but… yeah.” She didn’t know why she got an interest in Auristics when she was even younger, but it did good.

“ If you don’t know what Auristics are: they help you see other people’s auras, which is the major things people use it for. It has other uses also, such as detecting items and finding hidden things. You can also alter your aura, but only if you’ve done it a lot. Wouldn’t suggest that on your first try.” She took a quick breath. “Now, Auristics has punishment for overgiving like most other magics as well. In small cases, a bit tired, hard time speaking, and loss of physical senses, temporarily. In bigger cases, mental scarring, and stories say they saw things they didn’t want to see. Howabout..” She said, taking another breath, “You tell me about Animation, and I’ll tell you about Auristics?” It sounded like a fair deal to her. She moved to a more comfortable position on the bench, putting one leg on the other, and her shoulder relaxed, throwing all the tenseness away.

Auristics

Postby Kaik Leyr on June 2nd, 2014, 2:50 am

“So formal. I know Auristics, but… yeah.” Kaik did not expect such a response, but at least now he knew her school of magic...to which he knew nothing about.

The girl explained what Auristics was, Kaik listened intently intrigued by this form of magic. She even talks about Auristics effects on overgiving, which he noted were tamed compared to the gruesome stories he's read about magic's consequences.

After giving him an idea of what Auristics was, she asked him to tell her about Animation. It was a fair deal, information for information. He takes a seat on the bench, having a feeling this would take awhile.

"Okay, Animation is a branch of World Magic...which means that instead of using the djed of myself, I manipulate an object's djed...which means no overgiving," He said taking a moment to recollect his thoughts, "To be exact Animation seeks to bind life to an object...to put simply, Animators seek to create life...of course there are still risks, sometimes our creations will not do as we ask and interpret our request in ways we couldn't foresee... you turn."

Kaik felt proud of himself, he was able to talk like a normal person. His thirst for knowledge was probably the only thing that was getting him to talk.
