Now You See It, Now You Don't (Open!)

The 17th day of Fall, 510 AV

Derric looked up at the sky, noting that it couldn't have been a better day to perform. Just enough clouds dotted the sky that he'd have some leeway when it came to performing, as the shadows from each cloud would mask any minor mistakes, yet the sky was not so dark that it would encourage Sylirans to stay indoors. The magician looked back down and surveyed his surroundings. Satisfied with his whereabouts and the number of people walking around, he took off his backpack, letting it drop to the ground with a thump, and opened the wooden box. He gazed into it for a few moments, his eyes lingering on a small scrap of paper. The man blinked, snapping out of the trance that the paper had put him in, and selected a single deck of cards from the box.

Derric knelt down to place the box next to his backpack, and proceeded to masterfully shuffle the playing cards on his knee. He glanced around at the small crowd beginning to form around him. At last, content with his shuffling, Derric stood up, straightened his back and donned a kind smile. He decided to begin with a simple trick meant to get his crowd warmed up. "We have here, an ordinary playing card," he spoke as he flashed an Ace of Diamonds at his audience. After a few moments the magician brought the card closer to him, and in one quick gesture he turned his hand around and closed it into a fist, secretly pushing the card into his sleeve in the process. Almost instantly the man opened his fist and turned it back towards his audience, revealing the disappearance of the card. He paused to give the crowd time to swallow what had just happened and then spoke again. "Now, I would like a volunteer..."

A thief naturally gravitated towards any crowd, and there for, he often saw the most interesting of things. Brawls, jugglers, musicians. He rarely saw trick magician, however, as they tended to be terrible at it. This one however, was attracting quite the crowd.

Heading towards the crowd of people, he spotted a likely target. He grasped the small blade in his pocket, and deftly slit the man's purse strings. Slipping it into his bag, he slipped through the crowd to the front, just in time to see the man make a card disappear.

He was quite impressed now. That was some trick there. He smirked as the man asked for a volunteer, but stepped back. He tried his best to stay anonymous at all times.

Isilla walked into the thick crowd, she was intrigued by this type of street magic, it seemed to revolve around quick movements. She walked near the front, to get a closer look. She watched as the man made the card disappear. He was quite the performer.
"Now I would like a volunteer"

"I'll do it!" she said. Her curiosity was getting the better of her, but not being able to see the outside world for 7 years did that to you. And anyways, she was interested in this "Street Magic". "Let's see what else he can do..." she thought.

As she approached the man, she seemed to see a familiar face.. But ignored it, when she saw who it was. She the stood beside the man and waited for his further instruction.

Now You See It, Now You Don't (Open!)

Cecile walked out of her home to a bright sunny day. Syliras was always nice, but she had an especially good feeling about today. She grabbed her violin and took to the streets.

After reaching her usual spot on the street and setting down her money box, she prepared herself to play. Only then did she notice the huge crowd nearby. Somebody's stealing my business! She thought, donning a scowl. She walked over, shoving her way through the crowd trying to find who it was.

It turned out to be a street performer. A trick magician to be exact. How can he have such a large crowd? She then saw an enthusiastic young woman volunteering. The man had an air of confidence about him. Was he really that good? she'd just have to find out for herself.

"I'll do it!" the woman said, walking up to join Derric in front of the crowd. He looked her up and down, maintaining the same, friendly smile the whole time.

"Hello. What is your name?" Derric questioned in an attempt to get to know his volunteer. The magician carefully stared into her eyes, trying to see where they generally looked. If she eyed the deck of cards, it usually meant she was suspicious, a person trying to figure out the secrets to his tricks. However, if she simply looked at him, then perhaps she was there purely for entertainment.

As Derric waited for the response he discreetly rubbed his wrist, the card hidden within the man's sleeve beginning to grow uncomfortable.

"My name's Isilla." she said happily. She was really looking forward to seeing this magician's sleight of hand. She concentrated pretty hard on the deck of cards, she was terrible at noticing things but she was trying her best. The man looked around quickly and she paused, also surveying her surroundings. An angry looking woman was staring at the man too. "What in the world is there to be angry about when you're here for entertainment?" she thought to herself, before staring back at the deck of cards.
