11th of Summer 514AV
It seemed pointless to Jed. Starting rumors and gossip. Much of the his family weren't to crazy about it either, but Mica had said it was worth it. Occasionally words were more effective than fists, the head of the house had told him. And of course he was the one to do it. In a way Jed didn't mind, he didn't agree with the new rules either, it was like the Sitai were trying to take the power from the Dynasties. It didn't settle over well with his family, and he knew a few more families weren't too fond of the changes either. But today he was to talk to the Konrath's. Specifically one of the younger of the long-living family. One who specialized in the word of mouth. He had a proposition for Estrellir Konrath.
The warm summer breeze should have brought relief from the heat, but instead just brought slightly less warmth to his skin. He had grown up here, and the heat was not nearly as bad to him as he had heard some people complain of. Jed glanced around, as he stepped off the bridge to Fire Island. It was relatively small, he could see the Middle Suvan peaking from between the three buildings. The midday sun was beating down overhead and Jed found he wouldn't have minded the shade of a building at the moment. The island was small, and the gardens not kept as fine as some of the other islands, but the bushes did not grow out of control. He knew the building, however unassuming it stood, and strode right up to it, pausing at the door. He ran one hand through his hair before pulling the wood open. Usually Jed would glance over the door, see what carvings and work had been put into it, a side-effect the addiction to his own work, but today he wanted to look attentive.
The room was small, and smelled of books, a new scent for his nose that was used to the fresh scent of wood or the strong stains that would hit your nostrils like an arrow when left open too long. His bright blue eyes landed on the Konti, should she look up, she would not meet the usual menacing stare that tended to rest on his face. Instead he would break out into a smile. No slave was with him that afternoon for him to direct to the wall, so he took three strides closer. "Love what you've done with the place." Jed spoke as if he had actually been there before, whereas he had never entered the building before. Friendly was a rare way of interacting with strangers, something Jed wasn't entirely used to. However genuine it was out of place coming from his bearded mouth. Scars and ink tattoos over his muscles permanently labeled him as the rough sort if he hadn't already been identified as Radacke. "Its wonderful to finally meet you, I'm Jed. I don't believe our families are terribly close, but it is nice to finally meet one of the esteemed Konraths." He extended his hand, Jed knew her name of course, and undoubtedly she knew his. But a proper introduction was due, since the families were resting in a comfortable nutral light. A fact that he was there to use, and given strict orders not to tamper with. Unfortunately for his family, he was no messenger boy, he could handle the simple task of inter-dynasty politics.
Even though the slight flattery was not necessary, Jed was quite fond of good impressions. He wasn't against have a friendly conversation with this beautiful woman on the side. He wasn't in any rush.
