Malediction

Postby Darkalin Pinewood on June 14th, 2014, 2:01 am

I was wondering, since Malediction looks rather cool, how does one get into it? It combines Glyphing and Magecrafting, using Skulls, Furs, Fingers, and other body parts. How does one learn it, alone? As a person who may/may not be working for an Alchemist/Hypnotist/Arch-Mage, I feel kind of outdone, so Malediction.

Malediction

Postby Annalisa Marin on June 14th, 2014, 2:25 am

Malediction would require one learn of its existence first. Most non-mages don't really bother differing between two different types of magic. All they generally know is that its magic and its bad and it does X. Once you learn it exists then you'd need to learn it from a user or a book, the latter being very, very, very, rare since books are hellishly difficult to find. Books on magic even more so. So finding a user is your best bet, if you can convince the wizard its worth his/her time to teach your PC. You can't really learn it alone unless you have a book, which again are super rare if you read Founder Gillar's statement on it in the Founder Public Service Announcements. (scroll down a bit to find it.)

Hope that helps. :)

Malediction

Of course, you can also contact your local mod, see if it is possible to learn malediction from an NPC, or that you can self-mod them.

It is possible in Zinrah, not possible in Syliras, depends on domain.

Regarding books being super rare or not, again, depending on domain. It is super rare in places like Sunberth or Taloba, but Zeltiva, Syliras, and Sahova? Just rare would do.

Malediction

Thank you both. Now, if there was a house that was say, Ancient, Created by a mage, and Alive, would that be a prime location to find one of these such books?

That question is not answerable as it is merely speculation. There are a lot of factors to determine whether a book exist or not.
