The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

OOCI'm cool with drama. Drama's cool
Wrong question. Though Savos could bathe in the momentary relief that it truly was an ambiguous subject and not a product of his own ignorance, it did not last long. The question had triggered something within Kaik, Savos could see it. The boy stuttered repeatedly, his dark eyes growing increasingly panicked as he searched for an answer he did not know. Savos saw the boy begin to lose his balance and jumped up from his seat to catch him, but was too late. Kaik crumbled to the ground in a heap of jumbled emotions.
"Kaik, please," Savos said, his own voice drowned out by the man's self condemnations. He stood there, his mind between torn between pity and sympathy for Kaik. He did not know who or what the man was talking about, and he remembered vaguely the rumour that magic could drive even the sanest men absolutely mad.
Empathy was the only thing that allowed Savos to relate and care for the poor creature, as well as a sense of guilt for having inadvertently caused the breakdown. He began to kneel down and gently put his hand on Kaik's shoulder to calm him. He could feel him shaking as he stared at the ground, unresponsive.
"I'm sorry," he began, and was quickly interrupted by the doll approaching in his peripheral vision. He shot up the moment he saw the dagger and took a few steps back, paralyzed with fear. Was the doll capable of murder? He had no clue. He didn't know what it was thinking, let alone if it even had thoughts. He did not own any weapons to defend himself with. She moved slowly, and he was sure he could outrun her. He'd just have to turn around and--
"Arya no!" She stopped. Savos felt like he could breathe again.
"What the hell-"
"I-...sorry...pl-please forget this-"
"The hell just happened-"
"I- I really must go...sorry...I am so very sorry...goodbye."
"What the fuck was that?!"
Kaik did not reply. He turned his back on Savos, grabbed the doll and began to leave. Savos was still breathing heavily, his initial panic turning into indignation. How could someone just threaten to kill him and then walk away? Savos fought to control his rising temper, clutching on desperately to the sorrow he had felt for him just moments before.
"Ye.. ye're crazy, kid!" He shouted. He could hear himself speaking as though outside himself, his Denvali accent stronger in the presence of his agitation. He wanted to go after him, but he still feared that the dolls were more dangerous than he could anticipate. Reluctantly, he decided it would be unwise to go after him.
"Might as well report him to that Wizard Registry or whatever it's called," he muttered to himself as he turned around to go back to Lazuli Ink, where things made actual sense to him. He pondered over the Wizard Registry. He had been informed of the place upon entering Lhavit and told to report there if he ever saw an unregistered or overgiving wizard. Did this count as overgiving? This Kaik child certainly didn't seem very much in control of himself. Still, he wasn't sure if his initial fondness of the young man would allow him to justify getting him arrested, or whatever the law was on this kind of thing.

OOCThis will be my last post. It was a pleasure threading with you.
The words shouted at him stopped Kaik in his tracks. He waited for the onslaught of shouts, but instead he could only hear a door closing. "Am I crazy? Have I finally lost it? Or have I already lost it?" Before he could he realize it he had returned home. Closing the door behind him he sat on a chair near a small table and placed Lina gently on the table before shutting her down. Arya stood in front her master awaiting her orders.
"Arya...why did you that?" his words were not filled with anger, only sadness. She could not respond, she only trembled in fear. The wooden doll could not understand her own emotions, she simply acted on them. She climbed into her master's lap and put her arms around him. For a few chimes he was speechless, but then he returned her embrace. At that moment he wanted to believe in a fake, hollow lie...she was alive. He said nothing but understood why the doll did what she did...it was his fault. She wanted to get rid of his pain, but in the process did something horrible. Her mistake was something he had to bear.
The image of Savos shouting at him crossed his mind. "Why didn't he come after me? Surely there was more he wanted to say to me?" he thought, "Ah...he's gonna send me to prison...why wouldn't he? It would be the best way to deal with me...yes, that must be why he didn't say more...he didn't want to waste his breath, it was easier that way." The thought of going to prison should have scared him, yet it did not, it was the expected outcome of what he had done. Kaik should have stayed where that stranger was, at least then the man could have voiced his hate. The Animator gripped Arya tighter, cursing the world and all its problems. He closed his eyes, tired of the world, and wanting to enjoy his time in Arya's embrace just a few chimes more. Instead he fell asleep. Unable to close her eyes, Arya settled for burrowing her head on Master's chest. The constant beat of his heart served as a lullaby. Slowly she too falls asleep. |

Notes:
This was a great thread you guys! You both did a terrific job writing this. You guys fooled me, I thought that you would just keep socializing and then there was Kaik’s mental breakdown, Arya going Chucky and Savos pissed off. Quite the twist, I loved it!
Kaik, good work with the animation, introducing that unexpected twist and describing Kaik’s timid nature when it comes to human interaction. I absolutely loved what you did there, keep it up!
Savos, you did a fantastic job as well. Savos’s surprise and bewilderment when watching the dolls was really well written, his lack of understanding and worries regarding magic… And then of course his anger when being threatened by Arya, well done, well done!
