It had been quite a while since Yato felt this annoyed, having just heard that he couldn't prepare for his trial, at all. Didn't these people understand the nuances of Hypnotism? It wasn't like he could command a subject to do his bidding just by destroying his mind, not without careful preparation, time and effort spent! Yato wasn't the type to let something as trivial as a slave's will or desire influence his acceptance into the Sahovan community! The slave would do what Yato wanted, when Yato wanted...And no other options were allowed!

'Alright, time to get my head straight and my mind into second gear!'

After walking in circles for a while, he decided to go back to his quarters to straighten himself out and get back into the match with a new game plan, this was a set back after all, not a defeat! Processing the information he had obtained from a sickly looking human during his 'expedition' through the Common Labs, he grabbed a quill and parchment before sitting down and scribbling everything that came to mind, down, in lists and points.

#1 Judgment is a trial where you are judged upon performance of your magical abilities
#2 Judgment is every 40th & 80th day of the season
#3 Acceptance upon passing; Banishment upon failing

Yato couldn't help but grind his teeth a little bit as he remembered the mocking and haughty tone of the slab of talking meat, he had felt superior over the Nuit simply because he knew a few details of the place he probably had been residing for years in, disgustingly misplaced sense of superiority...Yato made a mental note as to get even with that specific Pulser, forgetting all about the kindness he showed as he went out of his way to provide as much information as possible. The bad is always remembered over the good, after all.

#4 You are free to use the Common Labs, Quarters, Courtyard and several floors of the Gug Andjak, in preparation.
#5 All other areas are off limits without the Sahovan ring
#6 The Sahovan Ring is something all receive after passing Judgment

After that, the conversation between the fleshy meatbag and Yato got interrupted by his Master. The Nuit had heard and read enough about the absolute hierarchy to be respected at all times, on Sahovan soil, to decide against intrusing or insisting any longer. Bidding his apologies and fare well to the Master, without even a look or word of thanks to the talking slab, he walked away from the Common Labs and brainstormed agitated as to how to proceed.

Now that all he knew regarding Judgment was listed, it was time to analyze it and come up with a tactic to proceed and make sure no loose ends were left untied at his Judgment!

As he scanned the list, which was far too short for his liking, he encased the first 3 points and the last 3 points. The first 3 were simply general knowledge and fairly unuseable for working out how to prepare best for his Hypnotism demonstration. Granted, he wasn't limited to that specific magic, he had been initiated into Summoning and had dabbled a bit in its arcane pool but hardly enough to be comfortable with depending on it for his Rite of Passage.

Going over the more important square with the 3 points listed in it, he mumbled them out loud to try and get enough of a grasp on them to come up with a battleplan. It took him a long time, much too long, but the realization that he needed more information before proceeding finally hit him. His pride and agitation made way for logic, reason and ambition once again. Ready for another round, he stepped out of The Quarters in search of new moving 'information points'.

The effective area of effect for his search was limited, as noted, only the Courtyard; The Quarters and several floors of the Gug Andjuk were available. Further more, the Courtyard seemed to be filled with less than friendly ghosts and phantoms...Not the best place to seek answers. The Gug Andjuk was also not the most recommended place at this time, since Yato feared running into the Master he earlier almost bumped heads with. Something he wished to avoid at all costs at this point in time.

Basicly he narrowed down the possibilities to one location, The Quarters, but he wasn't about to barge or knock the door of every room there. Knowing better than to disturb or annoy a possible Sahovan Master who was residing in his 'personal space', he decided he'd hang around outside the building and simply wait for the opportune moment to wrap his metaphorical tail around his target and move in for the 'kill'.

It was clear Yato still needed to adjust to the Sahovan mentality and mindset, as all his attempts to make a link between him and any non-Nuit he could spot near the Quarters over the hours he spent prowling the area, were futile. None of the Pulsers, none, were willing to stop whatever they were doing to treat the Nuit to the juicy Sahovan scoops. Usually they bailed as soon as they realized he didn't held any real power over them, yet. Losing his 'good-natured' patience after a few bells, he resorted to more forceful interrogation methods. Luck had it, he fell on just the right toy, after that 'breaking point'.

He saw the human, wearing tattered clothes and malnutritioned to the extreme, even for Sahovan Pulser standards. His eyes devoid of anything but mindless automatism, living for the sake of living, he reminded Yato of the Golems he occasionally saw. No mind, no soul, only servitude. 'Excellent!' Was the first thought that came to his mind when he saw the broken shell of a man, seemingly a human at first glance...Bit tanned, perhaps a sailor, ditched on Sahova by his former crew for whatever reason. The random theory amused Yato, especially when imagining the pain and loss the man would have gone through. It almost made him grin sheepishly like a boy looking like a smitten kitten at his girl. But it was time to act, he had to play the part, and he had to play it well.

The young and distressed Pulser passed Yato, with his head down and staring blankly at the cobbleheads before him as he walked fast but wobbly past the Nuit. It was time to make the toy unwind, but he had to make him stop beforehand. Judging from his looks and actions, he was fearful of anyone and everyone. Based on that, Yato focused quite a lot of Djed in his words, more so than normal anyway, deeming this lad as his own personal little goldmine...He didn't want to give him the chance of breaking from Yato's grasp, not now, not ever.

"Stop!"

Induced with strong hypnotic Djed to infuse the human with a strong emotion of fear, which would only compliment and enhance the already established fear in his heart, the lifeless toy halted right in his tracks, shivering from head to toe as he was too scared to even turn his head to look at the Nuit who made him cower in fear with one simple command. Yato knew how to proceed, he had connected the dots in his mind and was about to draw the picture. Stepping up to the young man, slowly, his footsteps resonating in the Pulser's ears and mind, fearful of what was going to happen...

Yato's hand reached out, his cold white fingers entering the field of view from the man's eyecorners. He could almost feel the petrifying fear emanating from the man. When the hand touched the man's shoulder, the shivering intensified and the man lowered his head as he raised his hand, Yato couldn't see but he imagined it was to cover his mouth to stop him from letting out a shriek of fear.

Yato quickly removed his hand from the man's shoulder, as if concerned for his wellbeing, as if everything he did and said wasn't all a clever ruse to lullaby the man into a sense of safety and comfort. The next sentence that came from the Nuit's twisted lips was nothing but a giant joke, a lie that was as dark as the tongue that let it out.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!"

This time he didn't manipulate his Djed so that it would induce an emotional reaction, but he carefully let a single word slip inbetween the kind words he pronounced, into the man's mind. 'Friendly' was the message conveyed from the phrase's hypnotic small print. The man heard the word coarse through his thoughts, in his own voice, as if he actually thought of it himself. The used Djed was again slightly more than he usually used, but this was a crucial step in his plan. He absolutely had to get the human at ease, less fearing and especially less distrusting of Yato.

It seemed to have a minor effect, as the human finally picked up the courage to turn his face towards Yato, but the facial expression still left much to be desired. Depressed and fearstruck was still written all over his face as he looked at Yato, seemingly expecting to be commanded or reprimanded. Yato did his best to look as friendly as possible without overexerting himself, a small smile was visible on his lips and the look in his eyes tried to emulate compassion and sympathy. No easy task for any Nuit, Yato was no exception and the Pulser didn't seem quite convinced he wasn't in for a thrashing.

"...Y-yes, Master?"

Visibly surprised, Yato waved his undead hand around dismissively and confirmed the human there was no need for those kind of formalities with him. "Call me Yato, what is your name?" As if someone just convinced him Mizahar was made of popcorn, he stared at Yato dumbfounded until he started moving his lips, slowly and hesitantly as if he wasn't sure of his name anymore. The lad probably hasn't been called by his name from the start of his life in Sahova anyway.

".....I...I'm Reginald, Reginald Funth!"

He spoke his full name out with a light hint of proud and glee, the look his face revealed Yato was connecting the right dots as he even had brought up the gall to shoot Yato a weak yet genuine little smile. His face no longer continuisly lowered as well, his spine still bent and general appearance still poorly maintained, but he was getting there...To the point of no return!

"Nice to meet you, Reginald. I recently arrived here, are you new too?"
He asked with a sincere tone of voice and curious facial expression to boot, but it was painstakingly obvious that Reginald was a local resident for quite a while now. Still the Pulser made no sign of realizing it was a silly question and answered with a small, squeeky voice. "No, I've been here for a few years already..." His voice made Yato think of a squeekytoy, the kind you step on and squeeze until it's on the edge of bursting...The similarities between them were uncanny! The tone in his voice was filled with sorrow, pain and regrets...All of them sounded so deliciously negative to Yato, but he kept going, playing the part.

"Ooooh, alright! Maybe you can help me with something? I need some guidance y'see..."

Again the human was clearly content, eager to be of assistance, to have some sort of importance and meaning to anyone. Rather than simply be a disposable tool, a sack of meat waiting to rot and be thrown away as trash. Confirming that he was 'willing' to help, as if he had a choice in the matter at all, the man became more and more cheerful by the minute spent in Yato's company. Something the Nuit noted as well, and not about to let this fly without taking advantage of it.

"Well, I know I have to do a Judgment and I know I'll have a certain person assisting me, but unfortunately he's not in a place I can access without the ring received after passing the Judgment. Effectively throwing my preparation down the drain...So I was wondering if you know of another way to get into those kind of areas?"

Reginald seemed to be a bit slow in the head, which might be the reason why he appears to get severely abused by his Master, but after some time the question and reasoning finally sunk in. Now in the clear process of thinking, with blatant bombastic acting involved, such as erraticly rubbing his hair and chin while sighing heavily. Even with that pathetic act to crack this unsolveable riddle, he failed.

"Sorry but no, you need one of those rings to access them! I'd lend you mine but it's worth more than one's life, here, so that's impossible...I'm sorry!"

"Hahah, it's alright, I'll steal one from the Archmage!"

Laughing harder than he probably had in all those years here, Reginald pinked away a joyous tear as he snickered, he said that was one way to get the ring alright...Yato laughed too, almost as hard as Reginald, but for different reasons. While he couldn't get the ring needed right away ,nor by a direct request, he was able to deduct that the rings were not bound to one person...Meaning, he COULD and WOULD steal one, but not from the Archmage. Poor Reginald was in for a harsh lesson of life. One that would cost him, at least, a ring...

After chuckling a bit longer, Yato and Reginald bid eachother fare well, but not after Yato laid the foundation for what was to come next. Stealing Reginald's ring, fair and square, what was to come of poor little Reginald, was of no concern to the cold Nuit. Having decided upon meeting for some more chit-chat on a day his Master wasn't working on his projects, and as such needed his Reginald to be there, Yato left his newfound toy after setting the date on the 10th of Summer, around noon, same location...

This was actually a very well written thread and I liked it haha. I do have a couple of things to note however. First off be careful not to use modern terms in this setting. "Setting his mind to second gear" for instance does not fit in Mizahar since Mizahar does not have anything within it where you would 'switch gears' lol. Its easy to let modern slang slip into your writing, but going forward from now be a little more aware and try to avoid it :)

Second I need more details in your magic? I need descriptions on how he manipulates his djed to cause these hypnotic affects. What is he feeling while he does it? What is he experiencing? Talk about the effort it takes to perform the spell, what he has to do mentally and physically to make it all work. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS is the name of the game! Normally I would not have given even a single point for the level in this thread, however, since this is your first thread I have graded I decided to let it slide and give you this little nudge. The points are in the details, and you cannot have too much :)

Alright good job! Feel free to play with that NPC for the next few threads involving your judgement. If you use him after your judgement I will need a write up of him and the lab he works in. PM me if you have any concerns!

Question your Reality,
