The first indicator that you are approaching Patisserie Novak is the sudden change in the scent of the air. Neither acidic and sugary like a sweetshop or bold like the smell of cooking wafting from a Restaurant, the scent emanating from Novak's Patisserie is a mixture of delicate crushed roses, chocolate and meringue and, of course, the house speciality, Macaroons. The Shop Front is a dark charcoal with white lettering, detailing "Patisserie Novak". Delicious treats sit proudly in the beautifully decorated windows, tempting passers-by. After all, their motto is "You eat with the eyes first." When you do enter, you are greeted by a smiling blonde assistant. Everybody at the Patisserie, save Novak himself, is young, blonde and beautiful, blessed with long legs and a perfect bust. That said, this eye candy can not match the literal candy that you might buy. After all, that is what has turned this pastry shop into such a successful business. Once you've stopped staring (though after your first visit, you learn not to anymore) you will be led to the counter where you will be served by another blonde assistant, who will help you to whichever morsels you so wish, and there are a lot to choose from! A meringue, a tart or maybe a wedding cake specifically made to the customer's design? Of course, cakes are made for all occasions and, once you have chosen what you shall have, the blonde assistant will happily put it into a characteristic lime box with white ribbon. Everything makes for a pleasant culinary experience, absolutely delectable, and many people can't think of a better way to give themselves, a friend, or their lover a treat. Have you tried a Macaroon? Patisserie Novak is well known for its macaroons, small, sweet, meringue-like cakes consisting largely of ground almonds. An intense flavour sensation, that is a solid favourite amongst those in the know, inspired by the Cacao Plant and the Sea. Although his field of work is making the most delicate of gourmet patisserie, the lightest of whipped cream and fine pastry bases that melt in the mouth, and he does it with precision and care, he is a tall, straight-forward sort of man. Cynical, often considered arrogant and cynical, he is world-weary and jaded, both self-critical and self-destructive. On the other hand, he is a man of considerable charm and charisma, intelligent, sophisticated and perceptive. He is the sort of man one could describe forever without really getting anywhere in assessing his personality. Additional Info: Tantra is Novak's right hand woman. Having a blonde in charge of finances might give rise to a number of jokes, but Tantra is a very competent account and manager of the business. Born as a slave to the Sitai, she would seem the type to have gone into years of successful personal slavery, but although she was prepared for it, it never happened. When Novak came up with his idea of employing only blonde female staff, a publicity stunt more than anything else, he paid a good deal more than Tantra was worth, only to be delighted to find that she had a good head for sums. That aside, Tantra is a determined, ambitious woman, to whom Novak has promised eventual freedom. After running away from her home in Riverfall, and her abusive parents, Luana finally arrived in Kenash, hoping to find a job and acquire freeborn status. However, this was not to be and as she was judged to be a vagrant, was sold off at the auction house where Novak bought her as a second choice, after the slave he wanted was sold to a higher bidder. However, she had some prior experience of baking and was a hard worker so that she was proved to have been a worthwhile purchase. Determined she wouldn't end up a slave, she found immediate work with Novak, though at the time, he insisted that there weren't any jobs available. Somehow, she managed to convince him otherwise, though another employee who had just reached thirty-two was fired in the process. At first, this meant that she was disliked by her colleagues, especially as it soon became obvious that she had designs on her successful dynasty boss, but her good temper, sense of humour and down to earth nature meant that they soon warmed to her.
