Amara looked down at the table again, drawing small circles on it with her finger, then looked back up as the man finished talking only to see a small smile forming on his lips. She let out a small laugh which was actually nothing more than her letting out a larger amount of breath than usual. "First time I've heard a joke in a long time. To answer your question, I've been here around three years," she said with a fake smile still on her face. "It's Amara by the way, my name."
She takes a long swig from her mug before looking out the window. "You ever lost something.. someone?" A small frown welcomed itself on her face as she continued. "His name was Rico. He stole from the older members and they apparently found out. They threw him overboard so he could drown. They said he needed to learn how to swim, but I knew the truth. I was going to jump in and save him, but they held me back. I never stopped struggling but I wasn't strong enough, and soon his lifeless body floated to the surface. That's why I came here."
Tears brimmed her eyes and threatened to spill down her cheeks, but she wiped them away. She started to slightly shake again, and kept her gaze at the window, looking at nothing in particular. "He was only a young boy, never got to see the world." The tears spilled silently and freely down her cheeks and she did nothing to stop them.
She then stood abruptly, the beads in her hair hitting each other and making a pleasant noise as she did. "I'll be back." She walked outside without another glance in the mans direction, letting herself cry loudly as she reached the door. As she exited to get some fresh air, she heard a man say, "Shoulda let her down easy, lad," then laugh. She could tell he was drunk just by the way he talked. She shook her head slightly and closed the door behind her, sitting against the wall beside it, and forgetting the horse, Teren, was out here as well.
