DESCRIPTION: While the outskirts of Mura have the typical village atmosphere to them, the center features a few paved streets, the broadest and most used one running through the entire city from west to east and leading into Silver Lake. This street is where the daily bazaar, called Boutiful Sea, is located. Every morning many Konti flock to the main street to set up their booths and present their wares. The range of products includes the basics such as household goods, furniture, cheap clothing and a wide variety of food native to the isle, but also offers a few exotic goods such as books on mythology or pre-Valterrian history and society. Being a studious people, the Konti store most of the expensive books and scrolls in their library, though. Artists, no matter whether aspiring or professional, will find everything they need to shape their ideas into material pieces. Some finished products are also displayed: small paintings, sculptures, poems and calligraphy. In tune with the influx of tourists, an incredible variety of souvenirs such as miniature swan boats or Avalis and Laviku figurines can be purchased. No matter the variety of the goods up for sale, many look and feel similar because they are made from what the lake gives its inhabitants. Corals, tree bark, algae … every possible material has been used for the goods at Bountiful Sea. As one ascends towards the east, the pavement slowly gets slippery while first rills of water claim the ground. After a dozen more steps, the street is flooded. Although nobody except a Konti, Akvatari or Charoda is able to continue, this area is actually the busiest of the whole bazaar, revered for a specialty of the city: sea food, more specifically fish. Most fish are caught in the traps and nets of skilled Konti fishers, collected in the earliest hours of the morning and brought to the bazaar that day. By keeping the nets tugged to small hooks in between the pavement remaining underwater, the Konti make sure that the fish are alive until the very moment of the sale. They are not only known for the exotic species, mostly white, blue and pale red colored exemplars with a slender and graceful build, but also for the freshness and intense taste. NPCS: The Chief Fisher
N’avari’s home is and will always be Silver Lake. She pretty much grew up in the water, surrounded by its breathtaking variety of fish, jellyfish and sea horses. Collecting corals and algae and working them into salads is a favorite pastime, but her real profession is fishing. She claims to have the entirety of Mura’s fish species memorized and her knowledge of underwater flora is above average as well. Although colleagues have actually talked her into that position, N’avari very much enjoys overseeing the fishing activities of Mura. She is a member of the Mother’s Circle, but can almost always be found at the bazaar selling fish. It is incredibly important to her that the customer values what they get with their purchase: This kind of food should not be taken for granted; instead one must receive it with respect and gratitude. N’avari is a follower of Caiyha and Laviku and firmly believes that the fish sold at the bazaar every day are one of their most precious gifts. Being more reasonable than kind, N’avari does not favor her daughter when it comes to work at the Bountiful Sea. Additionally, N’ijua has never shared her mother’s interest in underwater fauna. She prefers to stay dry and focus on tending to the sentient visitors of the bazaar. As a tourist guide, she always hangs around at the western outskirts, looking for non-Konti she can greet and point into the right direction or give a tour. Although the location of the booths changes from time to time, she always knows where one can get what one desires. Because of the city’s special infrastructure, she also encourages visitors to make a boat trip. While leading more earthy customers down the street, she also enjoys light conversations and introducing the culture of her race and home city. N’ijua is very soft spoken and emotional, not nearly as reasonable as her mother. However, she does have a connection with animals, at least a small gang of semi-wild cats roaming the more rural areas of Mura. Her pockets are always filled with some fish from her mother’s booth or deer meat to feed felines. Gnosis Marks: Avalis - 1 Skill List: 42 Rhetoric, 30 Intelligence |
