Physical Description
Mauriel is rather short for an Ethaefal, barely reaching 5'7". Her facial features are soft and round, with a short round nose and pulp lips. Her iridescent skin matches the glow in her hair and horns. Her horns usually sport a light, unassuming shade of Leth's colors, and tend to be rather monochrome, although very reflective. Her eyes are a dark silver color, the light sometimes reflecting as a light violet in them.
Meanwhile, the most prominent feature of her Akvatari body are her large and colorful butterfly wings, lined ornately with black, and rather translucent other than the dark parts. They stand in opposition to a rather unseemly seal tail, which is spotted with many shades of gray and looks almost dirty to the eye. Her hair is dark brown somewhat lighter than the night sky color of her Summer Ethaefal form, but her face is rather spare and hollow-cheeked, with a small pointy nose. The difference in tan from the porcelain-skin Leth had gifted her is also apparant, her complexion being more peachy and uneven. She's not ugly by any stretch of the imagination, but contrast to her celestial beauty is evident.
As an Akvatari, she's even shorter, coming down to 5'5" when on the ground, and some more when her tail is straight, like when flying. Her humanoid half is rather thin with long-looking arms, but her tail seems to be storing more fat.
She tended to be very particular about her hygiene, posture, and elegance of her movement. She still considers them an important part of the impression she leaves, and thus tries to keep herself looking clean and tidy, but she's not as obsessive or judgmental as she used to be about it.
She's trying to follow Lhavitan fashion as far as her income will allow her. Despite the city's cultural diversity and welcoming nature, she considers her visit an important learning experience and doesn't want to impose her own or another culture's aesthetics just for the sake of it, perhaps partially because she doesn't yet feel competent enough to deserve, or rather pull off, the charisma necessary. To accommodate her transformations, she usually wears dresses or skirts, and all of her upper body apparel is cut at the back to make space for wings. For some of the colder seasons, coats and similar outwear can be buttoned up at the back, to allow at least some more comfort and warmth when in her Ethaefal form.

Character Concept
On the outside, Mauriel mostly seems cheerful, curious, and friendly. She will approach people, as she loves to meet them and especially loves to share stories. She'll love a good story over any gift you can give her, and she's in many ways lucky in this regard to have fallen to Lhavit. She's talkative, but patient with people.
Her glee is, however, often interrupted by moments of deep thought and melancholy, especially while Leth is strong. She feels piercing guilt over her past, and deep sadness over having lost her place in Ukalas. She believes this to be an accident at worst, and an opportunity given to her to make things right, at best. On bad days, she feels embarrassed to the core to be cast back to Mizahar and considers it her own fault for not being a strong and radiant soul some of her brothers and sisters she can see when looking up are.
Whether because she considers herself undeserving, or because her being is permeated with the sense of loss, she's afraid to bond and love. She is friendly, and she does tend to make many acquaintances, but friends she truly manages to care about are only select few of those, and she struggles with her feelings even towards them.
Her dream is to collect stories from all over the world and commemorate them in writing, music, and tellings. She wants all cultures to learn of each other and trade lessons their particular circumstances forced on them. To her, that would make the world infinitely richer, both in terms of emotion and knowledge, and she's passionate about doing it in an engaging way which organically pulls people into this process.

Character History
There's no particular event Mauriel remembers clearly from her past lives. She can recall the warmth of a lover's smile, she knows she sired and birthed many children during the cycle of life, and sometimes she remembers odd bits of information about them, or about the cultures she's lived in. Her last life, as a Vantha man, is completely foggy to her, but she does recall much of the language. Oh, how delightful-sounding that language is! She'd hate to have forgotten it completely. But before that, before the ascension life, she was an Akvatari, and that is much clearer to her, perhaps because of the ties she still bears to through her mortal shell. She knew she dreamed of adventure and of making Mizahar's many stories come alive throughout the world, transferring lessons from culture to culture, and touching the hearts of many. And she knows that she's never come close to that sort of grandeur, always too tied up at Abura with this and that. The closest she came to another culture was studying Arumenic in an attempt to familiarize herself with Semhu theater, but she's hardly managed the language in the first place. There is lingering remembrance of shame because her lack of individuation and gut to pursue her vision. Ethaefal's heart still aches with the pain of this failure, despite the celestial wisdom granted to her, and to this day she wishes to set it right.

Post-Creation Character History
Summer 518 AV
Mauriel spent the season of her fall immersing herself in Lhavitan culture and trying to rekindle her knowledge. The charity of the people of Lhavit helped her out in reaching financial security, and she found a job as a bard at Scholar's Demise, quickly starting to earn her own money and give back to the community. She started writing and composing songs.
The end of the season was marked by a life and death event, when provoked by Ragespike's insults and his own madness, Haneht almost choked the life out of the Ethaefal. The event made her question a lot of her own complicated feelings regarding her fall and past lives, and started her process of self-reflection.
Fall 518 AV
The Fall was a confusing season for the Ethaefal, starting off on a bad note with a series of confusing headaches and increasingly aggressive thoughts. She had no idea what the source of those were and attributed them to her lack of exposure to the moon, due to her frequent night shifts and library nights on her days off.
Later in the season, just as she was recovering from her mental alignments, an orb she had found on the beach made her grow large and fat, awakening her many insecurities. She dealt with her feelings for days, having several panic attacks before managing to come to terms with the fact that she had to work to earn her living and her condition didn't seem to be going away. Gradually, she accustomed to her new looks, and so did her bosses, customers, and friends. As she started feeling better about herself, she realized how toxic and obnoxious her obsession with her own appearance and honoring this and that was, and realized those things were stemming from her egoism and guilt. Not long after, she heard Leth's voice, as she shrunk to normal, and realized it was him who pushed her into reflection. As a memento, he gifted her Starfire Earring.
