Departure
Summer 40th 514 AV, 4th Bell
Location: Syliras Gates
Odd how such a city could be so soundly quiet at a time like this, generally the world seemed to be asleep when it came to this time of the day of course. Yet during the transition in which summer nights were soon dawned with morning, there was something so mystical about the bell that one couldn't honestly hope to find a word to describe it. Peaceful might have been sound enough but it didn't come to mind to begin with, either way their journey was almost ready to be over with as Ricky, Telion, and of course Hannah were making sure their yokel horse had been fed and well rested. Ten days. Well almost ten days. Either way enough time has passed for the entire party to be rested enough, now it was time for them to ready for the last long haul before they would finally reach the place they called home.
"Finally." The fisherman muttered as he finished checking everything they had with them, he hadn't expected to have a couple of extra things brought along but a lute and a journal wasn't too bad. Seeing as how they were on a tight budget until they got home anyways. "Everyt'in is all packed an' ready t' go. 'ow's de horse lookin?"
"Like he doesn't want another haul," Hannah responded as the ladies giggled, "I can only imagine how relieved he'll be to rest longer back home than he did here."
"Yea we did kinda push it a lil' didn't we, alas we're makin' good time t' say de least. All we need is now is de peddler t' be 'ere an' den we'll be off." He mentioned as he went around to join the women, he had to admit their outfits were something he still had to get used to seeing. Telion wasn't in the trousers she wore when they reached Syliras, instead she had her teal colored skirt on with the aquamarine shirt above it, and of course the short leather boots she wore when they started this journey together. She would no doubt regret it later due to the heat, but she also had the white cloak on with the hood pulled back behind her head. Hannah really didn't change her outfit much, the white tunic adorned with patches of leather armor replaced with a black tunic instead. She still wore some leather armor for personal safety, mainly red velvet leather gloves that covered the forearm with a pair of leather boots to match them. She had her elbows and shoulders armored as well, but of course the breastplate was customized to allow her to breathe while protecting her middle torso.
Ricky himself looked different of course too. Rather than wearing the old clothes he wore upon his first travel, those had finally been tossed aside so that the new ones bought before the journey may be worn instead. He wore a brown shirt with no sleeves to worry about, along with beige trousers that were cut into shorts to go just above his knees, and of course his own pair of leather high boots. Suspenders rolled snugly over his shoulders as they were attached to his shorts, and the longsword he bought along was attached to his belt at the waste via the scabbard. They all looked different now, changed by the journey that led them here. He had to admit there had been a lot to see and a lot to learn, much of what he did learn a surprise he least expected. "The peddler? Oh... Hannah didn't tell you then?"
"Tell me what?" Ricky raised an eyebrow at the two in curiosity, as his gaze fell onto Hannah as she turned to face him with a smirk.
"The peddler won't be coming. I ran it by him and he said that we should go on, because he'll be here a few days longer than he anticipated. He'll return to Zeltiva of course, but we might as well beat him to the punch and save us a number of days." She explained with enthusiasm to try and make light of the situation.
"Ye do remember it's gonna be dangerous out dere, wit' just t'e t'ree o' us Oi dunno if we-"
"We'll be fine Ricky. Together we can do it, no matter what we face." Telion intervened with a hopeful smile on her face, her eyes sincere as she looked up to Ricky.
He took a moment to consider and then followed with a sigh, he did want to be home sooner rather than later after all. Given the journey here was a little bit harsh, he doubted they had worse to encounter so long as they were cautious enough. If they left now surely they would cover more ground, who knows maybe their travel would be faster compared to the caravan from before. Either way the ladies had made up their mind, and he wasn't in much of a position to argue to begin with anyway. They were ready to go home, and they had everything all set now. "Aight. Guess we better go den."
"Let's!" She cheered as she took his hand. They started their march onward then, headed out the gates and onto the open road once more that led them to the one place they called home. The South Kabrin Road. It was surely a bold move to travel in the early bells of the day, but by the time they would reach the outpost daybreak would almost already be upon them. They had much more ground to cover and in turn the weather to beat, seeing as how the heat was affecting this part of the Wildlands much more.
Telion. 'annah. Yew both set out on dis journey fer my sake, yew came wit' me knowin we'd face certain death. Because o' yew Oi will keep fightin, Oi won't ever stop 'til we get 'ome. We'll git back t' Zeltiva fer sure, an' we'll be a family dere. Ricky promised himself as he watched the sky during the transition of daybreak, Syna's first light started to touch the earth as much of the grassland would shine with morning dew. Ricky spent much of his time thinking about this journey and how it effected them, mainly how it effected Telion and of course Hannah. He knew Hannah was strong but seeing Telion, the way she walked a little prouder than before, more confident in her steps as she held her husband's hand dearly. She was stronger too. They were all a little bit stronger now, and even then Ricky still felt more change was only to come. For he planned to do more than just make a normal life for his family, he planned to build it on his own. He felt sure that he could do it, and he was already onto planning out a training routine to follow.
All in good time though, for now though the road stretched openly onward. And they had many miles to trek before they would call it a day, many more before they would finally call home...
