Seirei nodded absently. Focus on one thing at a time. Yes. She could do that. She hoped. And maybe if she did, everything wouldn't feel so overwhelming, and hopeless. Regular checkups made sense, and Seirei found herself nodding in agreement. They would also give Seirei a reason to get away from her captor for a while. One that even he couldn't object to.
Waisana's words were calming, and they soothed Seirei's fears into something more manageable. The questions she asked helped Seirei to organize her thoughts, and figure out exactly what she wanted to know. The first reaction was that she wanted to know everything. She wanted to know exactly what to expect, when everything would happen, and how to get through this disaster with as little suffering as possible. But she also knew that there was such a thing as getting too much information. Seirei knew that she would never remember everything if she insisted on learning it all at once. Waisana had told her that she didn't mind repeating herself if need be. But she also told her that she only needed to worry about things one season at a time.
That made a lot of sense to Seirei. Why worry about something for longer than she had to? Worrying about something she couldn't do anything about would only make it worse when the time came. So she took a few chimes to gather her thoughts, and decide which questions she wanted the answers to first.
"I think I like your idea about taking this one season at a time. What do I need to worry about right now? Are there warning signs of...well...anything that I should be keeping an eye out for? How is my body going to change this season? What's normal, and what is a sign that something is wrong? Is there anything I can do to make...all of this...easier to bear?"
Seirei realized that she was babbling nervously again. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and counted to ten. When she opened her eyes again, she was feeling slightly calmer.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to babble at you like this." she said softly.
Waisana offered to be the one to tell Lian about her pregnancy, and Seirei's eyes lit up with painful hope.
"Could you? Are you sure you wouldn't mind? That would be a big help, if you could. I know that I can't hide this forever...but...I don't think that I can tell him about it, either. He's won. And telling him that he has...that just makes it worse." she said hopelessly.
