The Konti ran laughing. She and a small little boy with skin that glittered deep sapphire in the morning sun were being pursued with dogged determination. Their pursuers had nothing but pent up energy to spend and were expelling it in large quantities. The Konti scooped up the young boy when it looked like they'd be overtaken and changed direction abruptly, bending again to retrieve one large stick and then jumping lithely on top of a huge storm washed tree that was more driftwood than corpse.
Tucked under one arm with his tiny legs arms still pumping flailed the child, who was screaming in laughter at the top of his lungs. Kavala swung him around dangerously, though there was no real danger he'd be dropped. In her other hand she waved the overlong stick and threw it again, wildly out from where she was perched.
Their pursuers halted, barked rapidly, and then as one the silkena pups all turned and chased after the stick giving the Konti a moment to jump down and let the boy free. He ran off after the dogs, just as intent as they were to get to the stick first.
Kavala laughed again, holding her sides so that the ache that was developing would stop. Two puppies tripped, one causing the other to spill and in turn causing her son to trip over the mess. This proved far more entertaining than retrieving the stick, so the mass of twenty or so wagging tails all converged on the already wrestling youngsters causing Kavala to have to wade in and rescue Tasival.
She was still laughing when she dragged him out of the mob of Silkena pups, turning and glaring at the adult dogs that were busy investigating the seaweed that had washed up at the flotsam line. "You could at least control your mob!" She called the the adults who simply wagged tails in response, not bothering to look up.
Yes... it was a good day on the beach in front of The Sanctuary. Though anyone that might have happened by might think otherwise. The play was fierce, regulated, and all designed to teach the pups to be obedient, smart, and engaged in the world around them.
