[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Aerion on July 24th, 2014, 3:05 pm

12th Day of Summer, 514 AV
Aerion walked into the Rearing Stallion, a small tavern that felt completely foreign to him. Growing up on the plains, sometimes in Endrykas and other times traveling with a few other pavilions, he never really grew up around any sort of alcohol, so he was a quite interested after hearing its effects on people.

As he walked in, he felt Teren's suggestion to just watch as people drink, not to actually drink any himself. Aerion decided to heed the horse's advice and he found himself a table in a corner, his back to the wall with his white hood up as he watched people come and go. When one of the barmaids came up, he ordered lunch, placing 5 Silver Mizas on the table after doing so. He decided to drink from his water supplies instead of ordering a drink, at least until he understood more about what it did to those who decide to partake.

Aerion watched as a small group of men came in, calling for drinks and a meal, so he decided to watch how things unfolded as they started downing drinks and eating their meals. He stared at the group from underneath his hood, his eyes sliding across the room every now and again, hoping to find something more interesting.

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Feonr on July 24th, 2014, 9:26 pm

And again he was caught in some boring conversation. It all started when, not so long ago he’s met a group of traveling merchants. They were heading to Sylira to sell goods, mostly spices,at the local markets. After exchanging greetings, interested in the current rates of local merchandises he started a conversation. Merchants were eagerly trying to answer all of his questions. It was interesting at first and Feonr was taking part in discussion. But after few hours he had enough of trade companies, and raising tariffs. Peddlers were so absorbed by the conversation; they didn’t even realize it was almost night.
And that’s how he ended up in Rearing Stallion. It was decent inn. Most of the people were leisurely sipping their drinks. The remaining few were chatting idly in the middle of the room. Feonr was sitting at the table with his new friend and pretend to listen to their debate.
“You won’t believe what he did!” not so sober merchant was trying to outshout his comrades “He laughed at me and said: ’I will wait another month and sell it for twice as much’. What a fool. Now he is a beggar here in Sylira and I’m about to buy my own …”
Feonr didn’t hear what young merchant was about to buy, because someone caught his attention. Suspicious looking man was staring at him. Altough his face was hidden under the hood Feonr could clearly saw a pair of green eyes.
It was great opportunity to leave this table. Without saying a word he stood up and went straight to the stranger. He chuckled after realizing that merchants didn’t even noticed his disappearance. He sat at the table opposite.
“Do you have some business with me? “Said Feonr and showed big smile,

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Aerion on July 25th, 2014, 3:51 am

As Aerion sat there staring at the group of men, one of them suddenly looked directly at him, Aerion watched as the man got up from his seat and walked up to his table, sitting down across from him.

"No, not at all." Aerion responded, looking at the man in front of him with interest, not knowing why he was so interested. Teren didn't know either, he wasn't all too interested in a drunk man. Aerion stared at the stranger across the table for a few minutes before asking, his curiosity getting the better of him, "Why do people drink ale?" He said shortly and simply, leaning back in his chair to get a better view of this man while keeping his hood up.

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Feonr giggled at the questioned. It was going to be an interesting conversation. He thought for a while and then replied:
“Are you that interested in people? Not that I’m not; on the contrary. People never fail to amuse me. About the question … It is easy and difficult question. To get the answer for this question all you need is to look carefully. For example take a look at those guys I sat previously with. They’re drinking just to smooth their conversation. Though they seem rather talkative even without stimulants.” He stopped for a while and then continued “On the other hand the guy sitting near the entranced is drinking even though he is alone. We could try to guess what his reasons are. IS he trying to forget? Or is he simply enjoyed being drunk? You can say there are as many reasons to drink as people in the world”
He spaced out for a moment. Is it really that easy? He took a deep breath and said with a smile
“We’re acting like we are better than them. We are the same. The only difference is that we have more time and will to wonder about that. Which is not bad at all “He ended with a smile.

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Acinonyx on July 26th, 2014, 8:54 pm

Ahhhhhhhh... This place is cool. Aci thought. It was clear his first impressions of this tavern was to his delight. He actually knows the name of this place too! The Rearing Stallion... He had asked some random civilian on the street somewhere where to go for an alcoholic drink, in those exact, innocent words, and he said the Rearing Stallion tavern near the entrance to Syliras. He couldn't miss it. Massive picture of a rearing stallion. Anyway, this tavern was another location tucked under Aci's belt now. His quest to explore and try everything was going swimmingly, and today, he was going to try alcohol for the first time in his life. Chatter has already dressed his opinion in slight bias that it would be a great, otherworldly experience, especially for a first-timer, and Aci was fired up and ready to go.

Walking towards the bar with no hesitation, Aci passively absorbed his surroundings. The atmosphere was calm with a few people here and there talking either drunkenly or soberly. The lighting was dull and there was a fireplace burning at one side, giving him a strangely sensual feel, adding to the smile on Aci's lips.

He approached the counter, and was met by a young man, who casually asked him, "Can I get you anything?"

Oh damn.

Aci's confidence melted away as he realised... He couldn't read the menu. Heavens, he had already encountered this at the Bean and it was rather awkward for him. Nonetheless, he tried to keep calm and ask, "Um, what is there to buy?"

Thankfully, the employee didn't point to the menu, instead just listed off the items by mouth. "I'll take a mug of beer then, please!" Aci said with a tinge of excitement, emerging from his speech.

"Ok, will that be pale or dark?"

"What's the difference? Oh, you know what, just get me one mug of each," Aci blurted rather impatiently and thrust down four silver miza.

A slightly amused waiter retreated and brought him his two mugs rather quickly, and Aci wasted no time in engorging himself on one of them, not knowing of course which was which. Burning liquid scalded his throat, as the beer scratched its way through. His heart was on fire. The sudden sensation made Aci choke and cough, as if the beer was letting him know, Be careful, sonny. It's your first time.

This undoubtedly attracted attention from the rest of the tavern, but Aci cared not. The alcohol was a brief moment of torture initially... but the fire subdued and the aftertaste brought him sweet compensation, along with a small, slight, but noticeable feeling of freedom.

Mmmmm... Aci murmured before pouring the rest of the mug down in one quick swish. A few minutes passed and Aci was through his second. He didn't even notice the difference in taste between the pale and the dark, he didn't care. The world was now his. He could do whatever he wanted. His usual social awkwardness didn't even matter anymore. He could talk to whoever, whenever. Turning in an unusually rapid manner, he saw two people just sitting there, talking. He didn't think they were drinking.

WELL, LET'S GET THEM TO! the newbie drunk Aci declared in his mind.

He walked over, stumbled a couple of times and attempted to sit down at the table with these fellow Sylirians. Slipping a little, he finally stabilised himself and managed to say, "I can see why people drink now! Why aren't you guys drinking??"

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Feonr on July 27th, 2014, 12:32 pm

It was getting more and more interesting. The man sitting in the corner drank another mug of ale. Feonr crossed his arms and, big smile appeared on his face.
‘Finally something interesting is going to happen’, he thought. The man finished the last mug of ale and looked around. To Feonr’s utter amazement he was completely drunk! The man or rather a boy stood up and started to walk in his direction. Altough his steps were unstable he somehow managed to proceed forward.
‘Oh crap! Troubles are coming! ‘He thought in panic. The man was already trying to sit at the table. After few attempts he was finally sitting on the chair. Then he said:
‘I can see why people drink now! Why aren't you guys drinking??’
‘So that’s how it was’. The man wasn’t looking for troubles. Feonr felt a relief. In the exact moment astonishingly beautifull girl stopped at their table and asked:
“Excuse me I'm sorry if I was interrupting anything but there are no other seats. Do you mind if I have a seat?"
The girl was indeed pretty. Her long blond hair made him feel nostalgic. She was reminding him of … But it wasn’t that bad to have another companion. He slightly averted his gaze and said: “
“Not at all! Let me get you this chair here” he helped the girl and asked with a smile “ What made you come to such a place ?

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Jubilation on July 27th, 2014, 3:29 pm

"Rearing Stallion." Jubilee read before walking into the tavern. Looking around, she could people laughing and talking. People seem happy here, Jubilee thought as she walked up to the counter. She wanted to know what it was about these certain drinks that made people so happy. At least, they looked happy. Deciding on one of the cheapest items on the menu, a mug of Ale, she gave the barmaid one silver miza and looked down at the bottle.

Jubilee was a bit nervous, not knowing how it was going to taste, but brought the mug up to her lips and took a rather big sip. She had expected it to be somewhat like water. But as the liquid went down her throat, she found herself coughing uncontrollably at the fire she felt from the Ale. The Barmaid looked at her strangely and asked her if she was okay. "I-I'm okay." She coughed again. "I'm fine." She said looking at the mug still in her hand. Never again, She thought as she set it on the counter and attempted to regain her bearings, feeling eyes watching her behind her back. Who would make a drink like this?
If I want anything from this cruel world we live in, It is to see the beauty in even the ugliest things. And until that day comes. I will not die. I refuse to die. And you can count on that.

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Aerion on July 27th, 2014, 9:11 pm

Aerion sat there and listened intently to the man across the table from him, then, realizing it's the same thing he had heard many times before, he decided that he would probably never understand what all the fuss was about until he tried it himself. Aerion sighed and then said to the man, "I guess I shall never understand it then, since I do not intend on drinking." He smiled as the man said something he completely agreed with, "Yes, having time to sit and think about things is a very nice thing indeed."

Aerion sat there in silence for a few minutes, looking over the crowd again as he saw an even younger man stumble over to their table, yelling about drinking. Aerion studied the younger man as he contemplated the question. Why AREN'T I drinking? Teren chimed in and reminded Aerion about the drunks they've seen stumbling around like this boy here, and Aerion had to admit the horse had a point. "I just do not choose to." He told the young man, staring at him, wondering why he was affected so by the alcohol.

[Rearing Stallion] To drink, or not to drink.

Postby Acinonyx on July 28th, 2014, 10:41 am

If Aci wasn't a little tipsy, he would have noticed the panicky tension coming out of one of the men. He didn't reply to Aci's question either, instead the other man did.

"I just choose not to," was his reply.

Aci responded heartily, "Ah, well, this is actually my first time drinking, if you couldn't already tell by how damn lightweight I am!" Oh my, Aci thought, I never curse like that normally... No matter! He felt much more social than he usually did, this led him on to talk even more. "Anyway, I'm Acinonyx, friends can call me Aci, so you guys can all call me Aci! HURRAH!" The final yell echoed throughout the tavern but was quickly vanquished by the other chatter floating around. Particularly by that group of merchants who were trying to shout over one another as if it was a contest. Oooh, that seems like fun! A bright spark of excitement brewed in Aci's eyes at the thought, but looking at the two men who were completely sober, he didn't think it likely. Not even his drunken judgement would make him persuade them to drink and have such a contest.

One sound burst through the bubble for a split second. It was a cough! Similar to Aci's cough, but a bit more feminine. Looking around rather loosely, he spied a young woman at the counter, burning her throat out at a mug of whatever. He couldn't quite make out what she was saying to the barman.

"Hold those thoughts, guys, I'm gonna go over to that woman," Aci quickly said. He loved meeting new people, the alcohol *helped* with that. He stood up from his chair, slipped as if the chair's legs were traps out to get him. "Damn you..." he cursed under his breath, before regaining composure. He then approached the woman rather quickly, but with no malicious intent.

"Hey! Is it your first drink too? Same here! We're all friends now!"

OOCShame about Rose. Hope she can get back soon, it's more fun for everyone with more people :)
