The Void. A massive dimension far beyond the one in which Anna dwelled, existing outside of her concepts of time and space. It made her feel small really, a speck of dirt in the eyes of the wider universe rather than the all-powerful sorceress she truly was. She knew however, that if she mastered this art then she would master that part of the Universe. Then she would no longer be small, she would stand far above those around her even upon Sahova. She had already mastered manipulating the physical world, now she needed to concentrate upon mastering that which she could not touch or feel.
The tall dark haired Chaon stood within her lab deep beneath the ground floor of the Gug Andjak, wearing tattered and torn rags of clothing and pacing around the main labspace on bare feet. She looked very much consumed in her own world, one of magic and theories and ideas. Her long dark hair was let down around her face and she looked rather haunted to look upon her grey eyes ringed dark, plagued with thoughts the minds of most should never have upon them. Encircling her right ring finger was a silver ring encrusted with rubies, its sigil that of a burning scroll and signified her as the Wizard of this lab.
How did one return to the same place in the Void? This was the question that had long since been upon Anna’s mind, a pondering frequent in occurrence. She had tried scrolls, all manner of Glyphing diagrams, and yet nothing seemed to work how it was supposed to. Glyphs allowed her to store Portals and split them, but still the secret to opening a Portal in the same place in the Void had eluded her. It seemed like such a simple thing to accomplish, but it was causing her to reach the point where she wanted to tear her hair out.
Of course there were the subtle whispers that played with her ears, almost as if something or someone was mocking her. Her gaze flicked unconsciously to the corner of the lab where her staff stood, her eyes narrowing ever so upon it. Recently voices had started coming from the staff, incoherent normally but they had started to affect her thinking and her sleep. Part of her wanted to just toss the thing back into the Void, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. It was unnerving, but little else. It also bore no current assistance on finding the answer to her questions.
She stopped pacing and crossed her arms under her breasts, closing her eyes to ponder the subject a little more deeply. Voiding was a personal magic, it dealt in the user draining their own Djed to keep a bridge to The Other Side open. Therefore perhaps she was searching in the wrong places for answers in looking at purely world magic, perhaps the answer had more to do with her and less to do with Glyphs she could make. Something personal, connecting with something that could possibly Anchor her to the Void on an intimate level.
The best way to do this in Anna’s opinion was to allow her Djed to be placed upon The Other Side, a piece of herself that she could use like a beacon. With this theory now in mind Anna moved towards the central lab table made from stone, the ring of protective Glyphs around it intricately drawn. The sorceress held out her right hand and began to tug at the tapestry of her Djed, unraveling the strands ever so and pushing outwards from her hand. The process was nearly instinctual by this point, requiring about as much effort as breathing did.
A strange purple liquid perspired upon her fingers, the fluid shimmering in the magelight as it was drawn out from her pores. The liquid was moved outwards towards the table, dripping down from her fingers onto the stone table. Translucent purple res formed a pool upon the stone lab table, a puddle of the substance forming and a tingle of pleasure coursing down Anna’s spine. She cut off the generation of res and then willed the substance to begin to take shape, the puddle seeming to move with a mind of its own.
The liquid gathered into the shape of a sphere, growing in size until it would likely fit comfortably in her open hand. From here she concentrated upon the aspect of earth, specifically upon stone in how rock hard and unyielding it was. Anna then willed the res to transmute from the purple liquid to solid stone, the substance hardening and solidifying until a large piece of stone stood in the place of the ball of liquid. It had been created from her Djed, thus Anna would no doubt have a personal connection to it.
Next Anna gripped the ball in her hands, admiring the weight of it before moving towards a chair not too far away. She then sat down with the object in her lap and closed her eyes, admiring the quality of the smooth stone beneath her fingers. Anna needed to Anchor the Portal to one part of the Void, to place it in one place and one place only. If she could accomplish that then it opened up an entirely new realm of Voiding that was limited only by her imagination. It would be a true mark of her skill that only a mere year ago had she started learning this powerful and strange art.
