Shan Mandara Appearance Race: Charoda Gender: Female Age: 17 Birthday: 14, Winter, 496. Birthplace: Charbosi Appearance: Shan has deep blue rubbery skin comparable to an eel without the slimy touch. She does have scales but they are more for show with their slight iridescent coloring and give no hardness or stiffness to her. She has two aquamarine fin-like ears on the sides of her head that shoot straight up before flowing out, similar to an elephant's ears or a butterfly's wings. She also has a foldable fin that protrudes from the back of her neck which looks and acts more like a webbing than a fin. Her feet and hands also have webbing. Her eyes are a pupil-less deep blue and her translucent eyelids make it so that she doesn't blink; her never ending stare is unsettling to some. Like all Charoda, she has three rows of sharp triangular teeth. Besides these racial characteristics, Shan has a heart shaped face that usually carries a soft look and a slight smile. Her expressions show her feelings like an open book and she generally holds the look of youth, one of curiosity, and adventure. She is just slightly taller than the average height of a human female at 5' 7" and is not rather voluptuous, since her race never was made to be, but is still well proportioned. Overall she's a pretty face with a few exotic quirks. Character Concept Shan is a rather curious creature who is a mix of book smarts and street-wise ditzy-ness. She loves water but left her home in the waves to discover a new sea, one of knowledge and other people. After djed storms of 512, Shan realized that coral is not as safe and strong as she once thought, and that something like the Valterian can come again to wipe out all she's ever known. Shan wants to one day return home to Charbosi, a person strong of mind and body and able to defend the fragile and beautiful city she'll always love. Character History Shan had always had the 'little sister' type of personality and was treated as such to all who knew her. Though she is a bit of a hoarder, she's known to give a little more than other Charodae if she felt that they were in need. She always did well in school but is rather clueless when it comes to actually applying her lessons. For the longest time, Shan wanted to visit the world above the waves because, though she loved Charbosi dearly, she knew that there was more to the world than which plants were edible or which animals benefited the coral. It goes without saying that Shan was proven right during the djed storms of 512. While some Charbosi would trade with others above the surface, the race really remained trapped within their own personal bubble under the sea. History had made them cautious of other races, and years of peace had relaxed them. When the storms hit, Shan realized that a life of peace and all the coral in the world could not save them from something of magic, so raw and wild and unable to negotiate. Shan studied for two years, trying to figure out what the strange occurrence that rocked her life could be before she decided to search at the source: on land. Though still adverse to violence, since it had been ingrained in her since birth, she wanted to be able to control some of the magic that dare harm Charbosi and to develop her body to fight in a way her people had forgotten.
