This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Summer 44 514

On the later day of the forty fourth of summer it was seven bells after midday yet on that day it was hot and humid but as the day started to end it got colder and more manageable then it had previously. At this time Solis vihl had been off work for two bells but Solis had changed from his regular leather armor to his common clothes he had also put away his regular weaponry which consisted of a light crossbow and its bolts but Solis always carried his bastard sword with him. Solis had left his home on the freeborn part of town he wanted to go look around the town a bit more to see if anything interesting was happening if he was lucky maybe he would find a store he never noticed before or anything that was particularly of any use to him. Solis walked around kenash for twenty chimes before Solis spotted a broken down dock well if you could call it that all that was left was a few poles sticking up out of the water but around the poles was a ship. Solis had not seen a ship before except for the pinnace that he paid to bring him along on there trade route to kenash so to Solis the ship in front of him compared to the large merchant ship that took him here this ship was small. Solis did not see anyone so he looked at the ship for a few more ticks "that ship is just small..."Solis said his thoughts out loud before he turned and walked back towards the streets of kenash.

(sorry its so short I had no inspiration this afternoon)

A Mistaken Insult [Kel]

The blazing orb hung in the sky, sending its tendrils of heat down towards the wetlands below, light reflecting brightly off of Laviku’s domain. Two casinors bobbed quietly in the azure sea, each vessel securely fastened to thick beams of wood jutting out of the swirling water.

Less than fifty feet away laying on the shore, two figures lounged lazily, sharp rocks and worn glass shifted aside to form a small divot in the seashore to allow room for their relaxation. A large pile of stone and broken glass that the beach was named after, sat in a mound directly behind them, creating a makeshift backrest as well as forming a barricade from the wind.

Relaxing in front of the barrier, a small sea otter rested peacefully atop the man’s chest, his chestnut tail curling languidly around his small form, face tilted up towards the sun. The Svefra underneath the furry animal lay contently against the incline, one hand draped over his tavan, the other wrapped loosely around the hilt of his trident.

Having arrived in Kenash only days before and interacting with the locals, combined with the long journey from Riverfall with Tydus, took its toll on the two. The two had earned a break from the culture shock and general unpleasantness that Kenash portrayed towards them. But being looked down upon wasn’t a new concepts to the Svefra. He had always been an outsider and didn’t expect that to change anytime soon.

Kel and Jenkins had spent the majority of their afternoon undisturbed, left alone to enjoy one another’s company in a world that would rather spit on them, rather than allow them into their posh ways. But they preferred it that way. The comradely silence stretched on between them, the soft lull of the ocean waves slowly easing them into slumber.

But then the silence was ripped asunder, five simple words, innocently spoken, but unleashing hellish fury from a Svefra scorned.

Kel’s eyes snapped open, sapphire orbs flashing heatedly. The man jerked upright, sending the small mammal tumbling to the ground in a startled ball of fur. Jenkins chittered irritably but the Svefra ignored him, planting one hand on the ground and gripping his other tightly around his trident, shoving himself off the ground.

He stood bare-chested, boots planted firmly in the rocky beach, his black sash snapping wildly in the wind, glaring defiantly at the figure who dared insult his beloved vessel. Jenkins scurried up the large mound of loose rock and perched on it, staring at the lone figure that had begun to walk away. Kel shouted after him, his rough voice ringing out in challenge.

“Aye! Yeh’ posh, pretty bohy! What’d yeh’ be sayin’ ‘bout me ship?”

Kel spun his trident around him in a figure eight defiantly, fire blazing in his eyes. His gnosis tattoo swirled on his chest, his pod tattoos shifting as his muscles flexed.

“Yeh’ wanna’ say that again teh' me face?”

No one insulted his casinor and got away it with.

A mistaken insult (kel)

Summer 44 514

Solis had turned towards the crowded streets of kenash, Solis was ready to leave the ships when he heard a voice bellow from nearby it took Solis a moment to understand that this voice was addressing him. Solis turned around and he looked towards the man on the pile of loose rock, Solis watched the person in front of him clearly infuriated with him he saw the trident. Solis knew a fight was immenent, he took a quick glance down at his own sword then at the svefra standing on the beach, then he looked towards the two casinors floating in the lagoon. Solis took thirty ticks to respond the the sverfa "your ship is small "Solis said to the sverfa without fear.

Solis saw that this was going to end with a fight Solis put his right hand on the handle of his bastard sword he slowly drew his sword before pointing the blade toward the sverfa "I'm sure there is no way around this"Solis said looking around momentarily to find better ground for a fight to be on. Solis looked at his opponent he knew he wanted to make the first move if he was going to win this against his daunting opponent, Solis started getting second thoughts as he looked at the sverfa in front of him who was a great deal taller than him. Solis's grip on his sword tightened as he looked at the sverfa, Solis took a few steps towards the sverfa each step Solis regretted his decision to draw his sword as solis drew closer to the mad man in front of him Solis let out a large breath of air as he brought his sword up ready to fight the sverfa. Solis pointed athim with his left arm that was the shade of dull jadeite "before we start I want to know who are you"Solis said watching the svefra waiting for him too make a move.

The lack of fear that this petcher showed so blatantly, irked the Svefra. His calm demeanor and the casual way he insulted the Tempest’s casinor caused Kel to tighten his grip on the hilt of his weapon, knuckles turning white. He grit his teeth and glared at the ignorant land dweller. The little shyke refused to admit his fault and instead of taking it back, repeated the insult.

“Me ship is NOT small…tis’ a casinor…thirty feet of top notch Svefra craftsmanship…”

The offensive man lifted his hand and placed it on the hilt of his sword, slowing drawing it from its scabbard. A dark grin crossed Kel’s face as he watched the intimidation tactic, his Laviku blue eyes flashing with anticipation. Good, the pretty boy was willing to fight. Kel shot a glance up towards the city; they stood on the shore right next to the water, far enough away that they shouldn’t be disturbed if someone saw them.

Kel eyed the man skeptically, noting his vertically challenged state; he had to be at least a foot shorter than the Svefra. He held the sword as though he had some inkling of what he was doing so the Tempest figured it’d be best not underestimating him. But Kel was also going to make him eat his words if it were the last thing he did.

No one insulted his casinor.

The Isur stalked forward, blade lifted high, demanding to know the seafarer’s name. Kel laughed rudely, words laced with venom.

“I’ll tell yeh’ me name when I cut yehr’ tongue out fer’ insultin’ me ship.”

Tired of the chit chat, Kel lunged forward, boots digging into the loose rock, trident flashing through the air as it jabbed towards Solis’ stomach.

A mistaken insult (kel)

Postby Solis on August 10th, 2014, 6:21 pm

Summer 44 514

Solis watched the svefra get even angrier from his statement about his ships size Solis didn't think this would end with that statement. Solis saw that it only made the svefra angrier, Solis watched the svefra tell him he would cut his tongue out before the svefra lunge forward. Solis saw the trident suddenly lunge toward him. Solis wasn't expecting the sevfra to make the first move he stumbled back the trident's trips digging into his flesh as he fell back Solis stared up at the svefra. Solis fell back against the beach he looked at the svefra with eyes full of anger and a small amount of fear Solis rolled to the side and stood up looking at the svefra "I'm not going to let you win this your going to end up cut open dead on the beach just waiting for the birds to come and peck out your eyes and eat your flesh I'm sure more will come stray dogs and cats alike the rats especially when I'm done the guards won't recognize you!" Solis said in anger as he backed stalked a safe distance away from the svefra Solis felt his chest. Blood had started soaking into his clothes, Solis knew the tips of the trident hadn't gone far in his chest from what he felt Solis backed to a small hill of dort and rocks he grabbed a large hand full of dirt as he stalked toward the svefra "I'm not going to die over insulting you ship!"Solis yelled at the svefra as he threw the hand full of dirt towards the svefras face before Solisswing his sword toward the svefra's left side.

A surge of elation rushed through the Svefra as the sharp prongs of his weapon dug harshly into the insulting man’s flesh, causing him to tumble to the glass underfoot to avoid being completely skewered through.

Kel spun his trident around, catching it in his other hand as it completed its rotation and held it at the ready, eyes flashing. He expected the man to strike but instead a torrent of words flowed from his lips angrily in one, loud breath. The Svefra cocked an eyebrow up at the man in annoyance, growing tired of the prattling.

“Shyke mate, take a breath between words why don’tcha. Yeh’ gonna pass out befer’ we even fight.”

The bleeding prey stumbled to his feet, backing away from the trident toting warrior. Suddenly he scooped up a handful of worn glass and threw it at the seafarer before charging, sword swinging.

Kel hunched, shielding his face, growling irritably as the objects peppered him in the side of the head. The sword flashed as it swung through the air towards his side. Kel snapped the lower half of his trident up, catching the strike on the shaft of his weapon, stopping the blade from reaching his side.

The Svefra would then knock the sword to the side, intending to open up the man’s defenses. If that worked, Kel would spin three hundred and sixty degrees on his heels, weapon twirling overhead and gaining momentum before slamming the trident head into the man’s opposite side.

Summer 44 514

A feeling of dread filled the isur as his blade was stopped from sinking into the svefra's flesh, Solis watched as the svefra spun his menacing trident and was about to sink it into his left side, solis dived to the ground to right side. Solis rolled standing up quickly"that was far to close..Solis thought to himself while he looked at the infuriated svefra, Solis tightened his grip on his bastard sword. As he thought out his next attack quickly, Solis knew he had little to no time to think before the svefra would strike. Solis took a step towards the svefra he brought his left arm up he bent it like he was going to shield himself from something.

Solis made a quick dash toward the svefra to gain speed Solis used his left arm it was ready for use of that needed to happen many isurians used there arm as a shield Solis was ready to do the same. Before he brought his sword to his left side ready to swing and cut the svefra's lower stomach. Solis had his left arm ready to block the svefra's incoming attack

Exultation flooded the Svefra’s senses, his eyes bright with adrenaline and the thrill of the combat. Once again, his attack forced the man to dive to the side to avoid dying at the razor sharp blades of the uniquely crafted trident. Victory flashed in the Svefra’s cerulean eyes.

Kel could feel the animalistic nature riling up within his chest as he stalked his prey, a snarl twisting his features, white teeth bared savagely. The feeling of power the Svefra had over those he battled sent chills down his spine as instincts kicked in and tactics swirled through his mind.

In the midst of the chaos, it was as though the remaining shreds of his humanity faded away in the face of death, the feral fury of a predator the only thing to remain of his soul. Battle stripped him bare to what really drove him.

A predator conquering its prey.

And that’s what Solis was, his prey. He could try to fight back but Kel wanted blood. He wanted to humiliate his foe, crush his spirit and make an example out of the man who dare insult the Svefra. Kel was in the beta’s territory. The only way to prove his worth was to take it down.

Hard.

Because in his eyes, he was the Alpha.

Kel’s gaze locked onto the man as he charged, arm held as if a shield, sword ready to swing. Before the man could strike, the Svefra dove, tucking his head to his chest and hitting the rounded glass with a loud thump, sending shards of sparkling rock flying into the air as he rolled under the metal arm.

Feet flipping overhead, arms extended to brace himself as he slid to a stop off to the side of his opponent. Kel twisted his body so he faced his adversary, still laying partially on the ground and snapped the butt of his trident out towards Solis’ feet.

If successful, the leather wrapped pole would tangle in the man’s feet and send him stumbling to the ground.

Solis was surprised as he watched the svefra dive to the ground and Solis backed away a bit before tripping on the end of kel's trident. Solis fell back falling into the different colored rocks, Solis crawled away looking at the svefra as he tried to get as far away from the avefra as he could. Solis placed his hand against the ground as he pushed himself off of the ground standing up and backing away he had to keep his distance from the svefra as he glared at him " I won't fall for that again"he growled at the svefra. Solis looked at the murky lagoon then at the svefra, solis looked down at the exotic almost other worldly looking beach then at his bastard sword he tapped the tip of the blade against his shoe for little to no reason. Solis felt the weight behind his sword he knew if he could just get the svefra to stay still he could skewer him.

Solis looked back towards the svefra, Solis dug his heels into the exotic looking rocks before he broke off into another dash towards the svefra. He brought the sword back getting ready for a lunge as he looked at the svefra in anger he prepared his left arm for the svefra's counter attack but before he was about to lunge he changed tactic bringing his bastard sword far to the right before swinging the blade toward the svefra's legs.
