Ensei

It was a fine morning. The birds were singing merrily, celebrating a new day in Ravok. Everything was dyed in warm golden. Leiyuu slowly dragged her steps along the cobble stone road while looking around. The street was crowded of people as usual. After walking for a while, She stopped at a fountain and took a seat. From where she sat, one could observe the city's activities well. People was passing by, talking and selling things. Different sounds were mixing together, flying in circles and reaching her ears in grace. Leiyuu softly closed her eyes. A beginning of a perfect day it seems.

She didn't go out for a while. Yesterday, like any other days, she spent her time reading a novel until midnight so she woke up late today. Life was easy. Now, she needed to find a job, something to make money to continue living alone. She was still a kid, so it was quite difficult to find a suitable job. Leiyuu had a lot of hobbies, and she wanted to make a living base on those activities which she loves. A bard sounds like a good option for her. Music made things magical, she thought. She used to pratice singing a lot when she was young. The girl didn't know if her skills could be called decent, but she had to try once to know if she had it in her.

She had a lot of plans. If she had enough money, maybe she would travel to other cities, as it was one thing the girl want since she was young. She wished to see the world with her own eyes, absorb its city's cultures as she visited. Then, she could go on adventures, learning how to cook, to hunt and meet people of different faces, background and values. Putting off the hood of her cloak, Leiyuu stood up. Words started to pour out of her lips:

Kanmaii o desta ii mente
Sanmaraii o tiswo

Kanmaii o desta ii noche
Ei Satarii o tiswo

Faolan Lundgren

Take a walk in the forest.

Faolan had come quite a ways from his home in Zeltiva. In fact that was a little bit of an understatement. He thought that they were just going to one of the closer settlements but he ended up staying with the merchant caravan until the end of their route at Ravok. He wasn't opposed to being far from Zeltiva, but this was all new to him and he knew next to nothing about the city on the lake. He had asked some of the merchants he was traveling with about it but they had been unhelpful. Now he found himself stepping off the ferry and onto the streets of the city where he would have to find his way on his own.

Pulling the hood of the cloak a little further up so his face was cast deeper into shadow he walked forward down the street in front of him. Sometimes being lost wasn't a bad thing he figured, he could learn the streets on his own, after all how much trouble could he get in? As long as he kept to himself he should be fine, right? Right, maybe. He wasn't quite sure since he didn't know how this city went about it's business or anything else, but he had a feeling he'd be finding out pretty quickly.

Wandering the streets for a while he found a couple of shops that he would have to return to later so he could view their wares, if he could remember where they were that is. Meandering through one area the sound of a girl singing caught his attention and he navigated towards it as best he could. Stepping out into a little area that had a fountain he found that he was in what appeared to be one of the main thoroughfares of the city. He glanced around at the people that were passing by and then scanned his surroundings looking for the source of the singing.

Spotting the girl that was singing he stood where he was since he was out of the way and listened to her voice ringing out over the area. He examined her carefully and then decided he would go ahead and approach her, after all he was curious as to what she was singing about. Walking over to the fountain he sat down nearby and pulled his bag around to sit in his lap. He held it against his stomach as he listened to her sing. When she was done he turned towards her a bit and tried to come up with something to say.

"Hi." he said softly, fidgeting with his bag a little bit. "You have a beautiful singing voice." he complimented her with a faint smile.

First Encounter

Postby Leiyuu on August 15th, 2014, 6:08 am

After Leiyuu had finished her song, she looked down to the coins which were thrown at her feet. One, two, three... She silently counted them. It was good for her first time. If she could earn this much each day, changes that she would had enough to live alone. There was a new crowd formed around the fountain now, and they was waiting for her next song. Whisperings were poured into her ears from different direction, some were loud, some were so soft that you barely heard them. She didn't notice a man coming and sitting down near her until he spoke up. He complimented her with a faint smile on his face. He had an oval face and thin lips. The hood of his cloak covered his shaggy hair, which fell over and hid one of his eyes. He seemed to be friendly.

Leiyuu tilted her head and softly replied: "Thank you."

She turned her head around and sang one more song before collecting the coins and sitting down. She took her seat and sighed in relief once it was over. She thought she had to take a break before she continued. The crowd, after waiting for a long time, began to continue passing by each other or returning to her work. She slowly closed her eyes and started to pay more to her surrounding. Noises were flying its way to her direction.

"What do you think?", it was the sound of a man.

"Hmn, I think it was okay. I bet the new fairy could sing better than her. Have you seen her? She had the face of an angel. Let me tell you what I think, she must descend from the Gods!" This time, it was the sound of a different man.

"Really? I must pay a trip to the House of Immortal Pleasure then!"

Leiyuu opened her eyes and observed the two peoplte who were discussing about a new beauty. An idea popped into the little girl's head. She had never met a prostitute before, and she seemed to be a great beauty. Maybe she would pay the brothel a visit and check out if the rumor was true. After standing up and stepping close to the pair, she said:"Excuse me, could you tell me where the House of Immortal Pleasure is?"

The first man began to stare at her, sizing her upside down before laughing out loud. A little girl wanted a way to get into a brothel. A weird idea, she guess. The second man just simply snickered and raised an eyebrow.

"It's in the Plaza of Dark Delights. It seems that you are curious about the new whore, kid?"

Ignoring his teasing question, she simply thanked him and returned to her old seat. She was going to have her curiosity fulfilled.

Faolan Lundgren

Take a walk in the forest.

"You're welcome." Faolan murmured before she launched into the next song. He stayed seated and watched her sing, not interested in getting up and resuming his wanderings just yet. He was happy to have found someone of interest already, perhaps this city would prove to be more intriguing than he had previously thought. When she was done he sat quietly as he listened to the people dispersing around them discussing different things. He picked up on the conversation she was listening to and looked at her with a curious gaze as she asked the men how to get to what sounded like a brothel.

"Why do you want go to a place like that?" he asked curiously once she sat back down. It didn't occur to him that it really wasn't any of his business and she would probably not actually answer his question. After all he wasn't exactly the most socially adept person ever and he usually ended up getting scolded or being told off for asking questions that he had no business asking. Mostly it was his curiosity that caused him to ask such questions anyway, he just wanted to know her reasons for wanting to go to such a place. She didn't seem to be the type who would just wander around an area like that, especially alone and being young, it seemed a rather dangerous venture and he wondered if she would allow him to accompany her. At least that way people may not mess with her, then again for all he knew she could probably handle herself.

He offered her another small smile as he studied her curiously and waited for her answer, if she gave him one.

First Encounter

Postby Leiyuu on August 16th, 2014, 11:41 am

The man sitting next to her turned around and asked her the reason why she wanted to visit the brothel. She fell silence for a moment then replied in a soft voice:" I'm just curious. Beside, I have never visited a brothel before" The answer was honest. Prostitutes were the ones who succumbed into the darkest corners of the world. There were people who enjoyed such sinful things, but there were also people who lost the game of life and drowned themself in burning ashes. Leiyuu sighed inward. That's a part of reasons she wanted to see a prostitute. She wanted to see the living example of corruption, bound by threads of fate. That low creature would become one of the faces Leiyuu came across and make a mark in her mind.

Walking alone to that place seemed dangerous, more so in her case. However, the thought never came to her. Sitting down, Leiyuu continued to count the money she had just earned. This must be enough for a fine dinner. The money she inherited from her parents was still enough for her to live in luxury for a couple of years. However, she thought that making her own money was a better idea. Leiyuu didn't want to be a freeloader. There were a lot on her mind right now and it was hard to think clearly.

Faolan Lundgren

Take a walk in the forest.

"Curiosity can be a double edged sword." Faolan murmured softly as he examined her carefully. "Do you have anyone who can accompany you? It's dangerous to go alone." he said as he fidgeted with the bag in his lap. "I'd hate to see someone with such a wonderful gift get snatched up and prevented from sharing it with the rest of us." he said softly, a small smile on his face.

He was getting hungry and so he was getting more restless. He had a decision to make. Would he eat in the city or would he take the ferry back out to hunt? It didn't make much sense to leave the city so soon after arriving so he figured he would just have to part with a bit of money to eat. Standing up rather abruptly he looked around with a little frown.

"If you don't have anyone to go with you I'd be happy to accompany you." he offered as he turned his gaze back to the girl. He knew it was probably odd for a complete stranger to offer such a thing but he figured he ought to try, after all his own curiosity had been piqued.

"I'm going to track down something to eat, if you'd like to join me." he said before starting towards a butcher's store. He didn't need to track down what he wanted, his nose would lead him right to it. "Although the way I eat you may not want to." he mumbled after he was a few feet away, mainly to himself. Eating raw meat wasn't something that most people could get over and so he was used to eating alone. When he was traveling with the caravan he had eaten his first kill and then made sure to field dress the rest of what he caught before taking it back to the others so it wasn't obvious that a wolf had gotten a hold of the animal. He stood and stared over the selections of meat that were available and pondered how much he was willing to spend on one meal. He preferred wild animals, preferred the hunt, but in this case he didn't have much of a choice. Until he noticed the prices that was, frowning at the prices he turned around and walked back over to sit down again.

"I'm guessing meat is a luxury here?" he inquired of her with a quizzical gaze. "I suppose I'll have to head back out of the city to hunt something down myself then. I am not paying that for some meat." he grumbled, mainly to himself again.

First Encounter

Sometimes, you would have to pay the price to get what you want. However, she thought that he was right. She didn't think about that. Leiyuu didn't intend to risk her life just because of her own curiosity.

"No,I don't know anybody here." replied Leiyuu. Even years ago, she didn't go out much. Most of her time was spent alone. It looked like she couldn't go this time. Leiyuu turned her attention to her toes and pouted her lips in disappointment.

His offer surprised her quite a bit. Normally, people wouldn't go out of their way and offer that. She fell into silence and quietly observed the stranger with a curious stare. A small smile bloomed on her lips. It seemed like she had met someone interesting. She mostly wanted to go by herself, but didn't really mind someone else's presence. In fact, she was happy because someone offered her some help.

"I'm glad to have your accompany, Leiyuu said that while she was beaming brightly as the sun. she observed the man who was starting to walk towards a butcher's store and returned shortly after that. His movement was smooth. It looked like he didn't hestitate one bit. The girl noticed his frown from afar.

"Not really. Something fishy happened and the price went up. About twenty percent, if i am correct. Leiyuu looked up at the sky and hummed softly. Although she rarely went outside, she still found ways to get the latest news.

"How about this... I'll treat you, just count it as a thank you for accompanying me to the brothel.", she smiled.

First Encounter

Faolan Lundgren

Take a walk in the forest.

Faolan's head tilted to the side when she had informed him that she didn't know anybody in the city. He doubted that as she smelled of the city and didn't seem like she had traveled anywhere else, but he didn't question her about it as he knew that it wasn't his place. His expression turned curious when she explained that something had happened to drive the meat prices up.

"Something fishy?" he inquired. He wasn't sure if she meant literally having to do with fish or if she meant something suspicious had happened. He had a feeling it was the latter and not the former and he kind of hoped that she knew something more so that she could elaborate on what exactly had happened. He noted that if meat prices were so high here that he could probably make some easy money by hunting and bringing the meat back to sell. But that would require having to deal with the employment of the city and he was in no hurry to bother with that just yet, he had more interesting things going on at the moment with this young woman. When she said she would treat him for accompanying her to the brothel his entire face lit up with a bright smile, food was one of the few things that could illicit such a reaction from the Kelvic.

"I would really appreciate that." he said in a happy tone. "I'm Faolan by the way. Nice to meet you." he introduced himself, a smile still on his face and that happy tone still in his voice. "Were you wanting to go there now or were you wanting to wait until later in the evening? I know brothels usually become more popular later on so if you were wanting to actually talk to the one lady it may be easier to do so before her clients start to come in." he suggested, turning a little red as he realized what he had suggested by saying that. "Uh, not that I've actually been to one before. I just have been stuck waiting outside for someone at one." he explained hastily. He was telling the truth but he still looked down at the ground and fidgeted uneasily nevertheless hoping that her opinion of him wouldn't suddenly change. He glanced up at her to try and gauge her expression quietly, a blush of embarrassment still coloring his cheeks.

First Encounter

Postby Leiyuu on August 30th, 2014, 9:03 am

"Ah, people had found a monster fish in the lake and it has become a threat to them. Because of that, the prices went up, especially if you use the ravosalas", Leiyuu answered with a far away gaze. Although it was still easy for her to adopt the luxuriant stuffs, she didn't do it. Half a month and all she had eaten was bread with butter, and butter with bread. Now, she couldn't stand seeing bread again. The money she had just earned would make a fine meal for her this time. She wished the prices would go down so that she could afford some cream puffs to go with her tea. And, she didn't have the opportunity to buy some clothes for a change. The girl sighed deeply. Without money, things got complicated. It seemed that she have to work hard to make things easier.

After hearing her offer, the man's face lit up. His bright smile comforted and soothed her. A smile left the little girl's control and appeared. "It was good to hear.Nice to meet you, Faolan. My name is Leiyuu". It was ages since the last time she met someone. She thought, maybe she would go out more frequently after this."So, Faolan, are you a citizen here? The girl asked while looking at the man's bag. He looked like a drifter to her. She wandered if he had just moved to this city."I was born in Ravok and I have stayed here for all my life...I was bound to this place, but not for long. My wish is to visit different cities in the world. I'll travel as a bard to support my stay."She turned around to face Faolan with a gentle smile. She felt comfortable facing this person. His presence may be quiet, but firm and warm. She look down and shook her legs back and forth.

"Is meat your target?, Leiyuu said, looking the direction of the butcher's store."So, shall we go and get some meat then?",Leiyuu tilted her head with a puzzled look."Is meat your favourite? I'm fine with meat, but having a sweet tooth describes me best."The little girl stuck out her tongue."Hmn, how about going after we have finished our meal?". His face started to turn red. It confused Leiyuu. Not until he had explained to her did she realized what embarassed him. The girl giggled at his expression, gradually it turned into a bell like burst of laughter. She wiped her eyes with her long sleeves."It's okay, i trust you."She said, a playful smile was still on her lips.

First Encounter

Faolan Lundgren

Take a walk in the forest.

When the girl explained to him that there was some sort of monster fish in the lake he seemed to contemplate that idea, wondering how such a thing could come to be. It was no wonder the price of meat had skyrocketed then, if the city was in a crisis then they would be raising prices on such things as they would be in short supply. He wondered how that would affect his chances of hunting later on. He already knew that he would have to do some in order to earn any wages so that he could afford to live in such a place, but he hadn't expected there to be competition due to shortages.

"I'm happy to meet you Leiyuu." Faolan said with a smile, enjoying that he could make her smile in return. When he was asked if he was a citizen here he shifted a little bit uncomfortably, knowing enough of the city to know that non-citizens were not afforded any protections here. "I'm not from here. I'm from Zeltiva." he said softly. "I like to travel, I have nothing to keep me in one place for too long so I just kind of wander off after a while." he explained with a light chuckle. "I think you would make a decent amount of money as a traveling bard, after all you've got a lot of talent. You'll just want to make sure you're traveling in the company of honorable people." he advised with a smile.

"Meat is definitely my favorite." Faolan said with a grin. "If you don't like it then you don't have to get it if you don't want, after all it is your money going towards it." he said with a concerned tone. "I don't want you to spend your money on something you won't enjoy." he murmured. "Sweets are nice too." he added. He didn't particularly care for sweets but that was his own tastes, this little girl should get to enjoy her sweets when she can. "Leaving after eating sounds like a good plan to me." he said with a nod.

When the girl giggled at him for being embarrassed he turned a little redder before chuckling softly as well. He couldn't help but laugh at his own awkwardness, especially when someone else was laughing at him too. When she said that she trusted him his expression turned quizzical and his head tilted to the side slightly again as his blue eyes examined her carefully. "Why do you trust me?" he inquired. He didn't understand how someone so young could trust so easily, especially when he had just admitted that he wasn't a citizen. He didn't quite trust her but he liked her and he felt that she was a kind person and so it made it a little easier to forget that he didn't quite trust her completely. Standing back up he slung his bag over his shoulder and waited for her to accompany him.
