Character Concept
On the surface Meredith would appear meek, and painfully shy. He’s managed to gain a good many mental disorders that limit his ability to socialize effectively, and often leave him short of breath when caught in a confrontation or in a large group of strangers. His opinion on himself is quite low, and he doesn’t like talking about his past or about his scars.
Meredith wants to show compassion. He wants to be passionate about something again. He wants to fall in love, have friends, family again. He wants to be liked. But he simply cannot fathom it anymore. He feels empty and alone. He tells himself that compassion and trust are flaws, and that he is strong for distancing himself from the world, but really he’s a coward. He’s afraid to start a new life, because he’s afraid to lose everything again. He’s deathly afraid of change now, and prefers to remain stagnant. He’s content with his little job as a seamstress, where he can hide behind colourful fabrics, and decorations. His dreadfully pessimistic outlook on the world has left him virtually friendless by his own doing.
This personality is almost the complete opposite from what he was as a child. Growing up in a tight nit community of Svefra’s in the Tideskipper pod, Meredith was a rambunctious, mischievous and lively child. Now, his own mother probably wouldn’t recognize him, he’s changed so very much. He is simply out of love for anyone, especially himself. He does take pride in a few things. His love for the sea is still a big part of who he is, and he often prays to Laviku, his god. He also has a love for painting, drawing and singing, three things he used to do as a child in the many Svefra gathering around a campfire on a beach he attended. These things he used to share with as many people as would listen to him, but now his talents remain under a shroud of meekness.
If one were to get through to him, they would find out that Meredith is zealous, artistic, and vibrant with a love for adventure, and hot summer days spent swimming in the sea.
