Rookery Park. 5th Fall, 514AV
Riverfall suited Jeremy. The city was clean, pleasant. He felt safe, which he had never felt in Syliras. Perhaps that was why, upon his entry to the city, Jeremy felt... confident, brave. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but a pleasant one. It gave the Kelvic an extra bounce in his step, and he found himself talking a walk more often than he took flight.
It was thus more out of laziness that Jeremy had started the day in his winged form. Flight was the most efficient was to see the city, as well as the quickest. Old habits died hard, after all.
It was the squawks of sea birds that caught Jeremy's attention, and the falcon tilted his wings to catch a sweep of warm air from the city. It carried him leftwards, circling above the brown of the sea-facing rocks. There appeared to be only two bird watchers standing at the elongated observation deck, though Jeremy could spot several pale blue huddled forms of young Silk gulls sheltering on the rocks. He dropped a foot or so in the sky to observe more closely.
A startled gull's cry caught Jeremy's attention, and those sharp gold eyes caught the sight of an adult Silk gull in flight. The bird's feet were sprawled forwards, in the same way that Jeremy positioned himself to catch his prey. The message was clear: stay away from the chicks!
Jeremy twisted his body in a tight arc, turning his back to the rocks - and the fluffy young birds that nested there, watching him cautiously through big black eyes. He was a suspected predator, though Jeremy had come here with no intention of such. He let out a high-pitched wail, a noise that made one keen birdwatcher elbow his friend enthusiastically and point up to the Gyrfalcon. I mean no harm.
The gull was untrusting, though eventually the other bird obviously decided that she was in a better position to protect her young from her actual nest, and not from beside this stranger. She left Jeremy, who also navigated his way to the rock face - steering clear of any chicks and the protective beaks of parent gulls. He rested approximately a foot away from the steps to the observation deck.
