Strangers in the woods ( Nidae, Seliarus )

Nehsmay shrugged and looked at Nidae. She surely did not mind; after all Dhani or no Dhani he helped her and that counted more in her book than anything else.

"I'm positively sure. We wouldn't travel through cities a long time, just a week here and there and you can always claim you are skittish around others and don't want to converse a lot so there's no danger in revealing your accent." She said hoping he didn't think her idea silly. "Also we don't know what we may encounter on the way so any help would be appreciated." She grinned and added oh so wisely. "And as Nidae said traveling is good for you."

Nidassasyae nodded vigorously. "Of course! If the cover blows... I'll pretend you're my bondmate, break down and wail about it, give you two time to escape, then morph and run away myself," she grinned. It wasn't really a plan, but she had yet to think of something better.

"Well, it's not like you have to show everyone what you can do. Plus, I doubt anyone will want to mess with you," she said, looking Seliarus up and down.

Seliarus sighed. There was no way he could win the battle. The two were just too stubborn to really see the danger. He shook his head. It just didn't made sense.

"You two really are a weird team...Hsshhh...Alight. I'll go with you both, but on your own risssk."

He spoke, a small smile appearing on his lips, but was quite quickly gone as well. He didn't know why, but the two had some sort of a special charm on them. Something most of the people didn't. He sighed, and shook his head again.

"Deal?"

"Deal!" Nehsmay cheered and did a small jump upwards. However, as usual she missed her landing and fell face first in the dirt. "Ouch!" she yelped and stood up trying to look as dignified as possible with dirt all over her clothes.

"Just ignore me..." she muttered and sat back on her rock cursing her clumsiness. Shade opened one eye upon feeling his mistress move and neighed in amusement at her fall. "Traitor!" Nehsmay spat back at him and groaned.

Seliarus didn't laugh. Nor did he find it amusing. His first thought was to check if she had hurt herself, but, when she stood up again, the Dhani simply shook his head at the Vantha.

"Thank you..." He spoke, afterwards. "To both of you. Giving me a csshance like thisss."

"It's nothing." The Vantha said simply "All of us deserve a chance regardless of our race and place of birth. I just hope you won't think us too bothersome." She looked at the horizon and watched as the sun set completely behind the trees. In an hour at most it would be pitch dark so Nehsmay used the time that remained to set up her tent. After she made sure that Shade was tightly tied against a nearby tree so her wouldn't run away during the night she sat back on the rock and sighed. She was bored...She felt like weaving a story, but didn't know if the others would appreciate it.

"Would you mind playing a tune awfully much?" She asked Seliarus. "The one you played before was charming."

Seliarus looked at the Vantha for a moment. He had no problems playing, but, well, he wasn't exactly skilled. Well, she asked, and the least he could do is to do it. So he reached down for his backpack, and took the flute from there. He took a deep breath, and placed the flute between his lips.

He started to play his instrument, trying desperately to get the melody right. It was a plain one, reminding on a lullaby.

Nehsmay closed her eyes and hummed in rhythm with the tune of the flute. She was no bard, that was for the Snowsong Hold, but she could hum her share of notes and make a song or two if needed. Unknowingly she let herself fall in the hands of music and started singing making the words on the spot, though they were hardly fitting with the lullaby like tune.

"Strangers in the woods, met one day by chance
Lost and different, each on another path,
Round by the fire..."

She stopped suddenly and came back to her senses, noticing what she was doing. The words flew in the wind and the song stopped abruptly.

"I'm sorry." She blushed...

Seliarus shook his head. "Pleassse...Continue. That wasss ...Well sang." He said, noting her blush.

"Thank you. I'd continue, but I'm afraid I'm stuck..." she admitted "Maybe one day I'll finish the song and then I'll ask you to accompany me with your flute. But that may take some time... I'm afraid I'm more of a storyteller than a singer."

Nehsmay thought about the song she started singing and noticed the similarity it had to their situation. She was sure that later she would manage to complete it and weave their story into a ballad.
