Dinah Appearance Full Name: Dinah Stormsinger, formerly Emberwing Race: Drykas Gender: Female Age: 19 Birthday: 21st Summer, 495 AV Birthplace: Endrykas Appearance: The first thing about Dinah that most tend to notice are her striking blue eyes that more often than not seem as if they are trying to bore through a person with an icy glare. She isn't as tan as some Drykas, having spent most of her younger years working inside the tents rather than out. She's been described as "not unattractive", though Dinah tends to think that doesn't exactly mean she's attractive either. Her brown hair is fairly long, as it typical for her culture, but she is lacking any sort of braiding, having removed them all when her twin left Endrykas under less than agreeable terms. She does however have a single wrap spiraled in emerald colored ribbon that she reluctantly agreed to allow after her marriage. Her life was defined by expectations that she has completely decimated, all stemming from her perception that she failed her twin when he needed her most. She comes off as cruel more often that not, but those that grow close to her soon come to realize it's more of Dinah's way of refusing to handle her own grief and feelings of being utterly lost. Character History Dinah and her twin brother Zhol were born to the Ankal of the Emberwing pavilion, Dardanus, and his second wife Etha. The fourth of five girls, Dinah watched as two of her older sisters were married off with a sense of bitterness that her worth was only perceived in how many children she would one day produce. In an effort to make herself valuable to the Ruby Clan, she learned a craft - pottery, that she initially loathed with every ounce of her being. Her real love was passed down to her by her mother when the woman initiated her only daughter into Reimancy. Water, the element that Dinah gained control of seemed to fit her personality perfectly: constant, steady, mostly predictable, but could become violently dangerous just around the next turn. None knew this nature better than her twin brother, whom Dinah was practically inseparable from since the day they were born. Spurred by her mother's words of "Keep your brother out of trouble", Dinah made it her mission to always act as defender for her twin, though quite often she found herself being kept safe by his equally fierce protective nature towards her. Though she never believed her brother shared the view, she often saw an "Us versus Them" situation in regards to their other siblings. At the age of sixteen Dinah felt guilty more than elated when she bonded to her strider, Niamh, when her brother had yet to be chosen. Though it was nothing compared to the guilt she would feel one day in the Summer of 512 AV. While out riding with friends, Dinah returned to find the Emberwing pavilion burned to nothing but ash and just in time to watch as her father cast Zhol out of their family for the destruction, her attempts at objecting silenced harshly. With her brother gone, Dinah grew to resent her father, finding everything she could do to go against his wishes, even considering leaving Endrykas entirely the way her oldest sister had. In the end though, it was the kindness of a retired hunter of the Emerald Clan, Oberys Stormsinger - an Ankal of his own ailing pavilion - who suggested a marriage between Dinah and his youngest son, Mandan. Having been friends with Stormsinger's other suriving son, Orxan, Dinah agreed to the match. Dinah's father, however, was not so pleased by the idea and refused to provide a valatia. The marriage happened anyway, the Stormsinger pavilion being more than pleased to welcome the girl. The resulting confrontation between Oberys and Dardanus is still spoken of among certain members of the Emerald Clan to this day. Since becoming a member of the Stormsinger pavilion and part of the Emerald Clan Dinah has dedicated herself to learning how to become a hunter, often working alongside her brother-in-law. She still fights with the concept of being a married woman, but otherwise has settled in with her new family rather well. Niamh is often fiercly protective of the Drykas girl and can often times seem maternal in a way; pushing Dinah to do things she may not necessarily like but are often for her own good.
