The awareness of her twin that had closed around her, sheathing her like a second skin in her panic, slowly faded the closer Sai's voice got to the tent. Kovac was moving around behind her, ripping at the canvas with his dagger but Aidara paid it little attention. Her entire concentration was focused on the awareness from outside their confines as it slipped away. Finally, exhausted with the effort of her concentration and her panic, as well as blood loss and just the rigorous routine of their hunt thus far, Addy found that all she could hear was her sisters actual voice. Exhausted beyond the point of even accessing their connection any longer.
Fired by her now complete disconnect from her sister, Addy rolled onto her back and began to tear with a fierce, rabid cry at the thick tent where Kovac had sliced. Shredding a hole big enough to shimmy through, the redheaded woman shot through it first and stood wobbling in the fresh air, holding out her hand for the cynical Avora. She wasn't aware that he would probably be offended by her gesture, which was meant to be kind. However, as distracted as she was she probably didn't care either. Her chest heaved as if she'd run miles, the crisp air cold in comparison to the sauna the two Avora had been trapped in, inside the canvas cocoon. It burned at her lungs, and Addy hunched over with her hands on her knees, her head dropping between her shoulders as she tried to slow her breathing and catch her breath in a way such that it wouldn't tear at the delicate lining of her esophagus. Still panting, Addy found a center of calm within herself. It was enough to get her from the blind state of panic she had entered towards a more productive state of mind. With a deep, shuddering breath she first turned to Kovac to take quick stock of his okay-ed-ness. He had been in the tent with her after all, and she was okay. Thoroughness demanded this of her, however.
"You good, Kovac? Going to pass out? Hyperventilate? Light headed? Sit, if you do feel such things and put your head between your knees. Try to breathe slow. I can smell the blood on Renol here, and we can't have you go into shock while I'm in my....trance." She hadn't meant to be bossy, or treat him like a child. She was in healer mode, and her natural instincts were taking over and covering all the bases before a problem could even think of rearing it's head. Unaware of the snake bite, Aidara thought she had covered all possibilities with the hunter and turned from him, towards the two Endal in their bloody, quivering heaps.
Addy had lost her hyper-sensitive connection during Sai and Renols conversation, not that she would have been able to hear the words anyway. But she knew her sister was concerned and struggling. She had even called for help. This all came crashing down on the small healer at once, and she sprang into action. Completely forgetting the bear, and quite frankly not even noticing if it had run away or if it skulked at the edge of the woods waiting for a tiny Addy sized treat, the woman dashed to where her packs had hung. A curse as she skidded to a halt, seeing her green bag crushed beneath a rather heavy branch. Taking a deep breath, Addy settled her shoulder against the thickest part of the limb, making sure to completely fill her lungs with air before beginning to push as she exhaled through her nose. Centimeter by centimeter the heavy log lifted from the ground, until finally Addy was huffing with exhersion once more. But it was enough, finally, as she was able to hook the toe of her boot around a strap and yank her bag free. With a crash the branch fell and the woman was off again, towards the wounded.
"Who tied this? You might as well have packed dirt in there. No matter no matter. Sai, please take the cook bucket and run to the river. Try and get the clean rushing water, not the stagnant stuff. With as little silt and dirt as you can manage." Throwing herself to her knees, beside the two Endal, Addy carefully took the materials she needed from her sack and held the top half of Renol's form as her twin eased herself out to hopefully follow through on her task without too much offense being taken. The small woman was in healer mode, and didn't have time to spare feelings when life was on the line. She was eying the makeshift bandage that Sai had tied, and while she appreciated the attempt to keep their fellow Inarta alive, she snorted in distaste as she untied the cloth.
She did it to help... a familiar bossy voice echoed in her head. Ah, so she really did sound like Sai when she was....passionate. Not the time for this! Not the time!
Shaking her contemplations away, Addy sunk deeper down into the calm center that she always had. It was easy to find now, the murky depths that usually surrounded and hid the peace she thought had been blown away by the severity of her situation. She cut through the darkness like a knife, her body lapping greedily at the calm as it tingled through her veins. Her vision cleared and no longer shook. Her fingers became steady as she picked at the knots in the bandage, carefully pulling the cloth away from his wound. Her heart rate slowed and she was able to feel the little string the connected her sister in her mind. Ah, yes. She was coming back with the water. Excellent.
Green eyes turned down and finally focused on Renol's wounded leg. Breath hissed between her teeth in a gasp.
"Bloody...I mean...petching....bear! SERIOUSLY! HOW am I do fix this? Good Rak'keli, Mother above." Whether she noticed the way her eyes rolled to the sky when she said this or not, Addy was moving again almost immediately. Without thinking, the woman grasped at the hem of her shirt, pulling it up and over her head. It wasn't as bad as the motion seemed, as she was still wearing an undergarment. The top was placed on the dirt next to Renol's mauled leg. On top was placed all of her equipment, for dirt would be deadly. But she still needed the water before she could proceed. A quick mental check of the string in her head, a tug telling her that Sai was very close, before Addy took a deep breath and turned to Renol's face for the first time.
"I know you're brave, and strong, but this is going to hurt. Renol. You need to use everything you have to not move. No matter what. That is, if you don't pass out from the pain first. I'm hoping, personally, that you pass out. It'll save us all a lot of trouble, right?" Not nearly as comforting as she normally came across, Addy found herself glad of Sai's presence as she sprinted through the edge of the trees, bucket in hand. The appearance of her sister had forestalled any further awkward rambling on Aidara's part. Without another word, Addy took the water with a grateful smile to her twin and moved to the wound. Kneeling down in the dirt, she first took a clean bandage from her stack of supplies. Unrolling and dipping the fabric in the water, Addy then twisting the sopping material over the Endal's broken flesh, trying to wash away as much dirt as possible, as gently as possible. She could see it was no use, however, and steeled herself. There was a particularly dirty spot where she assumed Renol had originally landed when attacked. It had to be cleaned, there was no if's and's or but's about it.
"Get ready..." And with no other warning but that, Addy plunged the cloth back into the water and pushed herself from a kneel to a squat, leaning over his leg to get a better look. A deep breath in through her nose, and she held it, her lips pressed into a tight line. There was a
lot of blood and it wouldn't do for the thick metallic smell of it to make her heady and unfocused. Wrapping a bit of the cloth around her finger, she moved her hand carefully to hover over the spot. In a quick, precise dabbing motion Addy plunged her finger towards the dirt she saw there, picking up as much as she could with the wet cloth, washing the rest away simultaneously. She had held the rest of the cloth in her hand, and squeezed the water from it to flow over the wound in the wake of her finger. It was quite effective, maybe a little over a minute before she sat back on her heels. Brow furrowed in concern, green eyes swung to see if her patient was still conscious.
"Renol? You doing okay? I got the worst of the dirt out. I can deal with the rest another way. But....this is going to be the hardest for you...here..." Glancing around, Addy saw a perfectly sized branch near by. She moved quickly hopping to scoop it up before returning to her spot beside the bucket of water. Nimble fingers peeled the bark away, and she quickly dipped the stick in the water, cleaning off any dirt or debris before snapping off the sharp, unsafe ends. What she was left with was a softened, finger sized stick. Moving back to Renol's head, she eased his mouth open and slipped the stick between his teeth.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, we don't want you biting off your tongue, now do we? Who will woo Sai into a complete and mushy lump of Endal goo if you cant whisper sweet nothings in her ear?" A bit of her humor was back, though if anyone thought she was funny was beyond her point of caring. Focused and determined, she didn't want for a response before moving back to her supplies.
"Needle...stitches...where are you....ah! Renol. Be calm." Her tone held no part of suggestion. Taking the needle and the stitching, she tried to thread the one through the other, and found her hand shaking too much to do so. With a ragged sigh, she felt the exhaustion she had been attempting to stave off start to creep back in while she wasn't paying attention. Closing her eyes, Addy reached for that warm, bright white calm that she had connected too, drawing more of it into herself and letting the calm wash through her veins once more. It was her form of meditation, that she'd done since she was a child. The urgency of the situation allowed her to access this calm quickly, when normally it took close to an hour to reach the state she was in now.
Needle was quickly threaded now, knot tied and secured at the end. There was no witty banter from her now as she was completely focused on the delicate task before her. There were three long strips of flesh spaced out between four deep gouges in his skin. Fat and tissue laid bare to the light and air, and if she had not seen such things before the gruesome look of it all would have made her loose her breakfast. Starting on the cut closest to her, Addy started down by his foot, quickly poking the needle through one side of the split flesh into the other and tugging gently until the knot at the end of the thread was flush against his flesh. Gritting her teeth, Addy glanced up at Renol with an apologetic expression and began to pull the two halves of his skin together as far as possible. Holding it there, she went back through the other way, pulling tight each time as she literally knitted his skin back together. The red tissue and the yellow of his leg fat slowly disappeared as a line of black stitching followed in the wake of her hand.
She took a moment to look up as she tied off the knot at the end of the first claw wound, biting off the end of the string to free the needle for another piece of thread. Addy wouldn't have been surprised if Renol had passed out. He was staying wonderfully still and she hadn't heard a peep from him...well, that wasn't fair. He could have been screaming bloody murder and in her concentration she wouldn't have heard a bit of it. Her eyes flicked from Renol to Sai, and from Sai to Kovac. She idly wondered how they were dealing with this as fingers threaded the next bit onto the needle and she began the process again. And again. And again. All four wounds were closed and she was sweating, and very nearly shaking as she lost her grip on her calm. All in all it had taken but a quarter of a chime.
"I...need a second before I can finish this. I need to be able to concentrate..." And she slumped onto the ground, her head in her hands as the situation finally overwhelmed her.
