Garland gave a small sigh, luckily she had dodge his uncontrolled attack. He was about to go in for another attack, but quickly changed his stance to block the spear going for his chest. There was only ten seconds left. He pushed the spear up, deflecting it. The spear was long so he had to bridge the gap it had created between them he stepped in close, trying to push her down like before, while she's stunned with deflected spear.

Five seconds left on the clock. He had his shield on her chest now, he pushed her down. As she fell, time seemed to slow to a painful snail's pace, the entire crowd seemed to go silent.

Three seconds left. The reality of what just happened just dawned to the crowd, some were starting to cheer, mostly the ones cheering for Garland. Saede was nearly on the ground, halfway there exactly.

2 seconds... The air was tense, but was slowly cooling down, the fight was over. Who would win.

Last second... No time to think. Garland pushed too hard, at least he thought so. He was reaching out to her, hopefully be able to stop her from falling.

Then the bell rang. Saede hit the ground with a thud right after the bell, she had won with 8-5. Garland offered his hand to her. "Sorry, you OK?" He asked a bit worried.

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Postby Sayana on October 17th, 2014, 12:32 am

Even when she chided and teased him, the cloaked man still remained silent. It was almost a little eerie, his intense isolation despite being mere inches away from her. “Bah, you’re no fun,” she said in a huff. Somehow she had managed to get him talking about all kinds of things earlier that evening but now it was like talking to a door or a wisp of smoke.

As the Dhani shuddered from the cold Sayana took it upon herself to wrap a couple arms around the girl. More specifically, her low arm around Lynn’s waist and her high about Lynn’s shoulders. “I forgot how much the cold affected Dhani. It’s not like you’d notice it back home.”

“So what brought you to Syliras?” Sayana asked Suresslynn, genuinely curious. “Definitely not the weather.” It was at that point that the two fighters in the ring were nearing to a close and Garland had made one last desperate attempt to get ahead. The bell rang and Saede thudded to the ground. Sayana leaped up from the bench and began applauding with a couple of cheers. It was almost akin to flailing with so many hands going, but she didn’t care.

“See?” She said smugly to her two companions. “Saede definitely had this match.”

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Suresslynn ignored the byplay between the Eypharian and the baker, figuring that they knew each other well enough to get away with poking fun like that, though when the Eypharian wrapped two of her arms around her, the Dhani smiled slightly. "Thank you. And actually, we do feel at night, but by that point, we're usually inside somewhere." she said, grinning slightly.

As the fight drew to a close, Suresslynn let out a cheer as Garland seemed to knock his opponent down, but then realized it was too late. Standing up alongside the Eypharian, she shrugged at her question. "Nothing, really. Just took to traveling and shored up here for the coming seasons." she said, grinning slightly as the Eypharian started cheering. "Looks to me like it was pretty close." she said with a shrug, before looking back at the largely silent man. "Who were you rooting for, Mr. Baker?" she asked, her voice curious.

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Postby Bakar on October 22nd, 2014, 1:30 am

The fight was over, Garland had wo- No. It was Saede. She had fallen, but it was a second too late. She had beaten Garland. It had been close, they were evenly matched. Luck and timing had just been with Saede this match. Then again, Garland was going 'easy'. He clapped quietly to the fighters.

He turned over to the two from the desert. Sayana had wrapped her arms around the Viper. Seeing this, Bakar shivered slightly, realizing how the lack of movement had stiffened his body a bit. He stretched and closed his eyes, relaxing slowly.

Suresslynn asked who he was rooting for, then once again mistook him for a baker. Damn Sayana right now. He was uncomfortable with correcting her, but didn't want to let it go on, it could make for some awkward revelations later.

"It was a very close match. In all honesty though, I think Garland would have had this match if he wasn't holding back. He was restraining, probably because he knew Saede." He said quietly. He cleared his throat, then spoke a little louder. "A-also, I'm not a baker. M-my name is Bakar. I, u-uh.. I actually work at Li Muata. Th-the mortuary.." His voice once again got quieter as his sentence went on, nearly whispering the last few words.

He turned to the fighters, coming back towards them and quieted down again. He nodded to Garland and Saede, giving them a small smile. With them returning, he may be able to slip into the position of wallflower again.
As of Summer, 63, 515, Bakar has a different body! If never met you before, then this doesn't really matter to you, but people I've met should take this into account, as you're really unlikely to recognize me. :P

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Postby Saede Lare on October 22nd, 2014, 11:47 am

After a near-miss with her spear strike, Garland had changed stance. But instead of hitting her, he charged towards her. His shield was pressed against her and he gave a strong heave backwards. For a moment, she was almost able to balance herself. But Garlands strength was too much for her to sustain. She fell through the air, and landed landed on her back - Only a half of a second after the match had ended. Now on the ground, she breathed a sigh of relief. She felt winded for a moment, but grabbed Garland's extended hand nonetheless. Using it to raise and steady herself. She nodded in response to his question.
"Aye. I'll be fine." She half groaned, giving him a small smile to support her claim.

She had won! Excitement rippled through her. She couldn't help but grin as they walked out of the arena, her eyes changing to a deep purple color. As they walked off together, Saede decided it would be best to create conversation.
"Good fighting! I noticed your use of pushing during the fight - It was quite effective for the most part. I may want to try it out."
The phrase was more or less sincere, but it was always better to compliment the other person after winning rather than bragging. Bragging only made enemies, while compliments won allies.

They walked back to their seats, where Sayana, Bakar, and some other girl were. Bakar gave them a nod, and she smiled in return. She approached them, not yet sitting and said,
"Heyy!" I an excited tone.

Garland was glad that Saede was fine. He was worried there for a moment. He looked at her, trying to seeif she had any major injuries from the fight, luckily she seemed great. She had a fit body that could have withstood the attacks he threw at her. They had started walking towards the seats.

He sighed a bit. "Congratulations, Saede. You won fair and square, one of the best fights I've ever had. I've enjoyed being so close to you." He gave a small smile, and grabbed her hand. "I'll teach you how counter a push if you want."

It seemed that Bakar had survived talking with Sayana and... Suresslynn? "Lynn!" He called and helped Saede take a seat. He took a seat close to Lynn. "Lynn, how ya been? Ummm..."

He paused, trying to think of a way to ask this without seeming irrelevant to whatever topic was going on, but he wondered what happened that day. "On the day we met... I think I blacked out, were you okay after that? I was a bit worried." He gave a relieved smile, he didn't have much time to go looking for her to check up on her injuries, but he was happy that she's alright and enjoying herself here at the festival. He then looked over to Sayana, with a little blush. The memories just came flooding in waves. He looked back to Saede

"We still gotta wait for the award ceremony. I hope its something awesome." He gave a nervous laugh and stopped.

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Postby Sayana on October 23rd, 2014, 3:08 am

Sayana couldn’t help but giggle at the “confusion” of Bakar’s name, knowing full well that she started it. Bakar the baker, baking bodies everyday. So silent and shy that he doesn’t want to play. Maybe she’d have a go at him some other time, but for now Garland and Saede were returning from the fight.

“Hey Saede!” Sayana said with a wave as she neared them. “Congrats on the fight. You’ve got some great moves with that spear of yours. I don’t often see someone whose weapon of choice is a spear.” When Garland mentioned his first meeting with Suresslynn, Sayana gave a laugh. “You managed to pass out on the day you met her? Now that’s a telling sign. Was it from her stunning beauty or could you not stand another second with her?” Sayana laughed again as she joked about the squire. She looked over to the sparring ring when he mentioned an award ceremony. It seemed like things were wrapping up and she wondered what sorts of awards there might be. “Do you think there will be any prizes?” She asked in an open ended question to the group.

The Harvest Festival (Part 2)

Postby Suresslynn on October 30th, 2014, 3:28 am

Suresslynn looked at Bakar as he clarified Sayana's mistake, then grinned slightly as he mentioned his actual job. "Sounds rough, working with dead folk all the time. Would get frightfully boring, I would think." she said as the two combatants walked up. Waving at the woman, she blinked at the sight of her eyes changing color, then shrugged it off, figuring it wasn't particularly important, though if she got the chance a different time, she'd have to ask about it.

When Garland greeted her, Suresslynn waved at the squire before nodding at his question. "Yeah, I was fine. Better off than you, really. I don't think that heavy gear of yours helped you at all in that fight, just made you slower and easier to hit." she said, giving the armor a curious look before breaking out laughing at Sayana's comment. "Oh, it was definitely my stunning beauty." she said, still laughing. At the mention of prizes, she shrugged. "Eh, I would think the thrill of the fight would be all you'd need, really." she said, giggling slightly.

I promise I'm not that scary..

Suresslynn didn't seem too appalled by Bakar's job, surprisingly. He welcomed it though, as it was nice to have some form of acceptance from the stranger. "It's not that bad, actually. I get to learn more of the various races and their biology. I'm assuming.. it's honestly only been humans there since I started. There's not a lot of others in Syliras.. b-but no, it's not too boring. It saddens me, sometimes, but it's nice to know that I'm helping them pass on to a better place.." He stopped, feeling awkward. He cleared his throat and lowered his head, tucking his chin into his chest.

Garland seemed to know Suresslynn, having met her before. When she.. knocked him out with her 'stunning beauty'. He had to admit, she was a little cute. When he thought it though, he felt quite strange. He was 50 years old. 74 if you counted the time before his changing. He had been living since long before she was even born. But.. he never seemed to grow up. His mind was still the same it was the day he changed. Well, that was a lie. He was darker, quieter..lonelier.. but his maturity didn't increase. He had the mentality of a man in his mid 20s. Either refusing to grow out of it, or just being immortal made his sense of time a little slower than it was.

He shook his head, trying to clear these thoughts out. Being as he was there was no point in even thinking such things. He was all but guaranteed to never be in a relationship, Nuit being feared and hated, the immortality. They would grow old and pass on. And he'd probably be the one to prepare their body. "What a grim thought.." he whispered to himself, saddened by the turn his mind had taken. He closed his eyes and surely would have cried, if not for the interruption.

Prizes. They were awarding prizes to the sparing contestants. "I wonder what everyone'll receive" he said as he lifted his head, turning to the small group he had been with.

OOCJust getting around to making a template. It's a little creepy, not at all like Bakar's personality, well, he is creepy, but in a more awkward kind of way. But that's not the point. It's really just to kinda show how he thinks others will see him if they knew he was Nuit. What do you think?

Postby Saede Lare on October 30th, 2014, 7:34 pm

OOCYour template looks fantastic Bakar! I'm impressed.

"That would be great!" She replied to Garland as they finally approached their seat. Countering a push would have made the fight considerably easier, as that was how he had primarily scored points on her. If she could counter it, she may not only be able to avoid it - But to use it against the opponent. She offered Sayana a quick thanks, and did her best to avoid praise, she was worried that it may offend Garland, but it hadn't seemed to. She had no trouble keeping their attention on another topic, as everyone was already wrapped up in their own discussion. It disappointed her slightly, but she ignored it. Saede never caught what their discussion was about, but the discussion seemed to have changed more or less back to the other topic when Garland brought up prizes. She would think they they would have prizes; at least small ones. She hadn't really thought about it when she signed up, but she'd assumed.. It would be a bit disappointing if she didn't get one, but it was just a friendly competition so she wouldn't be surprised.
"Well, if there are any I'd think that we'd get either a weapon or some gold. It'd be unlikely that we should get anything else."
She looked from person to person to see what they would think. Maybe one of them already knew the prize?
