Personality
Shamus is always calm and usually smiling if there is any reason to do so whatsoever. He is quiet, a bit reserved but not necessarily shy. After bridging the gap from acquaintance to friend many will find him much more talkative.
He is also often aloof, clueless to what is happening around him even if it could possibly affect him. Once he has a goal set in mind most of the other things in the world seem to vanish, the goal itself the only thing Shamus can see. His goals are like a light at the end of a tunnel, his only destination. But these goals are often small and simple tasks, like buy some lye, or make someone happy. It is only through these smaller tasks that Shamus accomplishes anything throughout the day.
Many may find him to be a free spirit if they catch him in the right mood. He can also seem very spontaneous at times, although those who know him well can predict his exact words. It is these people that Shamus likes to spend time around, for he knows they accept him, and it being accepted that he strives for. It is the people that hate him that he strives to please most.
Shamus cares greatly for others, even strangers, and will treat them with respect and kindness. Although his versions of respect and kindness may be twisted a bit. But when others are in the way of his goal he will roughly push them aside, for everything he does is riddled with passion. Appearance
Shamus stands out from the crowd. The thing that mosts sets him apart from others are his eyes,a bright golden color unlike any other. The golden iris is circled by a thin black line, like a wall keeping the shining liquid gold from spilling out. He has rather thin eyebrows that barely arch, and a slightly pointed nose that goes with his other sharp features.
A feature almost always on his face is a large slightly lopsided grin, with white teeth that peek out from behind his thin lips. While Shamus does not have any moles on his face he does have some freckles over the bridge of his nose. He also has a small half crescent scar that cuts down from the bottom of his lip, the result of climbing a tree and not so gracefully falling, a branch cutting deep into his lip. On top of his head is hair that flows forward into a crest in the front, and the hair farthest from his scalp begins to lighten before turning near white. Very rarely does Shamus let anymore facial hair than a occasional five o'clock shadow develop.
Standing at 5'11" his height would not strike anyone as outrageous. Shamus has a slender frame weighing in at 155 pounds. Just peaking out from his light skin are his muscles, lightly defined and not very large. He has slightly hairy arms, but most of the hair is blonde, making it impossible to see without looking for it. He is always nicely groomed and clean, the clothes he wears are casual but never ugly. Shamus spends a lot of effort to look like he does not try, but refuses to wear dirty ckothes.
History
Shamus was born into the Lhavit in the Winter, and grew up in an easy life. His father taught him from home as he grew up, the basics of average education. But he also was taught by his mother, who was an experienced philterer. He always preferred his mothers' lessons to schoolwork.
As a young boy he would play with his neighbor, Nathan, for hours on end. He went through more occupations in those few years of playing with Nathan than many did in five lifetimes. Shamus was always the good guy, the doctor, the superhero. He had the good roles. Nathan took on the bad role. The giant squid, an evil Riemancer, the sly dhani that tried to lure him into its lair. It is possible that over time these playtimes molded Shamus into the 'good guy' permenantly.
Even after Shamus and Nathan grew out of playtime they stayed in each others company frequently. Most of the time they were unanimous in decisions, often wandering around Lhavit aimlessly while contemplating life itself. The pair were inseparable, or at least they were until magic came into play. Shamus had always known his father had known a discipline or two, but it never seemed like so,ething he used and his mother always told him to not ask about it. He realized why when it was revealed which one his father did know, hypnotism. It was a slightly looked down upon discipling but still one that Shamus studied with fiery passion after he had the ability to. It fascinated him much more than the auristics lessons that Nathans' dad taught.
Shamus soon registered at the wizard registry like all mages did, and got a frown and warning about not causing any problems with his magic but otherwise no trouble. He soon grew past his childhood and spilt apart from Nathan as his own father grew deathly ill. While Shamus would sit on his fathers' bedside he would recieve phrases and basic lessons of the ancient tongue from his father, who had nothing to do but pass on his knowledge while he waited to die.
His father passed soon after he had fallen ill, leaving Shamus with a hole in his life that he left home and moved to the apartments to begin starting a search for what would fill his fathers absence. Ethics
Shamus has layer upon layer of things he considers 'right', but there are also holes in his morale, where most might find something terrible he may see only a act of artwork. Shamus believe in not harming people, for he sees no reason to do so. But if somebody were to attack him, his family, or his friends he would stop at nothing to make sure that someone or thing is not a threat. But he also exhibits restraint in what he does, for he is accountable for everything that he causes.
He has a passion for taking care of people, and if he sees someone in need he will help them, for he considers it wrong to not do so. By helping others Shamus has trust and faith in others if he needs help.
Shamus believes in forgiveness, but if you hurt his friends there will be a long grudge held against you, but that grudge will dissipate over time. Surprisingly Shamus does not find lying or deception wrong, he simply groups it with being human. Motivation
Shamus is motivated by helping others. His sole goal nearly every day is to help someone, and he knows there are many ways to do that. Lately he is motivated to open a spa, but knows everything will come in time. When not attempting to help Shamus pursues his craft, philtering, which he some day wishes to master.
He also simply wants to live every day to its fullest potential, for to not do so is a crime to himself and the life he was given. Fears
[size=85]Shamus biggest fear is to not be able to help. This originates with his father, he could not save him even as much as he tried, and it near killed him when his father passed away. He had failed someone then, and felt he could never do it again.
The second fear is to be alone, isolated, or looked down upon by others. He needs attention and recognition to keep him going each day, without it he is a shell of himself. |
