AV 514, Fall 33rd

It was just another tiring day at the job. Working in Riverfall and in Sunberth was just totally different. She had a nice place to heal and take patients, she had equipment so she wouldn't have to worry about anything. But the patients were different, much different. They were almost depressing and desperate. It just didn't help her work too much, she had to stay cool and happy. The usual things she did in Riverfall, but it didn't quite work out here. Giving advice if could, smile and giving positive thoughts.

Payment was all in order, a mother with two sick children came. She was also depressing, even a bit paranoid perhaps. "Please! Please! You can save my children right? You are a healer! You have to! They can't die!" She was begging to the Konti who just smiled awkwardly and was nodding. She had to check the children first. She couldn't fix any illness. She hoped it was not serious though by the mother's asking they might be. She didn't know for sure.

The two children looked really sick and pale. They were also sniffing much. "Hey you two, just sit up to the table and I check you." But she had to realize they were too little for that. Rather she helped first the little girl and then the boy up to the table. She was praying inside to Rak'keli. Praying that the problem was just looking bad and it was actually not. That she could mend them with her power. She was praying with all of her heart.

S'Essy stepped closer to the girl and was still smiling. She couldn't show fear, she didn't allow herself. It was a rule for her, if she showed fear, the patient would be more terrified than necessary. She placed her hand on the girl's forehead. It was burning just as she suspected. With her other hand she checked the boy's temperature. Same, his forehead was hot also, so surely they had fever. Before she could continue with the check-up the girl started coughing at S'Essy.

"Sorry."Just what she needed. She automatically moved away, one of her eyes closed, her arm in front of her. The girl just spitted on her face. She sighed and tried to imitate a laugh. It's alright, it's alright. She kept saying and quickly was searching for her rough. She wiped her face. She saw the mother was biting her lips. She had to continue with the check up. She was confident that she wouldn't get it, she had to keep herself fit. Now for two also. She couldn't afford and didn't have time to be sick.

"So can you tell me guys what do you feel? What is hurting maybe?" She was looking both of them. The boy was speaking first. "My nose is full. I hardly breath." It explained the sniffing. "And I feel cold." S'Essy nodded and the girl also added. "Same, same. And my throat, my throat hurts a bit." The situation wasn't as bad as she thought or as the mother made it to be. Just last little checks. "Can you open your mouth please? Both of you." The kids did as she said and she checked their throat. The girl's was red, the boy's was not as bad though. Last checking, she placed her ear on the girl's chest first. She didn't hear any unusual in her lungs. Then she placed on the boy's. It was the same.

The Konti's smile was bright and hopefully."I'm sure now it's just common cold. I'll fix you guys in a chime." Her hand moved to the girl's forehead first. She was focusing on her powers and let Rak'keli's power to mend the girl's cold. The healer then placed on the boy's forehead and repeated the process. When she was done she was looking at both of them. They were all getting some color finally. "How do you feel? " Though she knew the answer, but hearing was better. The boy happily jumped off from the table. "I'm fine! I can play!" The girl was about to follow, S'Essy helped her taking off from the table and they ran to their mother, who were hugging them and was kissing them. "Thank you! Thank you Healer! "

S'Essy was just smiling and bowed her head. "It's always pleasure. Still be careful and keep them warm." After all they couldn't afford to come back always, but she didn't want to add that. They left and she let out a big sigh. She still got work to do. Not sure how much she could do for today. She opened the door and stepped out who would be waiting. Her eyes widened a bit and she was surprised. An Akalak! She stepped away from the door so he could come in. "Come in!" She said in tukant. Her pronunciation was not that great. She only knew a few in tukant because of Riverfall and because of the place she used to work.

Healing can be painful (Dor'gen)

Fall 33, 514 AV

Upon until this very day, the Quay was a location that the Akalak had never seen before. In fact, during the whole of his time within the sordid city, he had never heard of this rather fortified portion of Sunberth. However, despite his ignorance, the will of Lhex would have it that his eyes be opened to the existence of this compound...and that the very fate of his life would come to rest in the hands of one who resided there. The tale of how this painful and excessively dangerous situation began was unextraordinary. The Giant, known as Dor'gen, had been hired for a seemingly simple escort job. He was to accompany an elderly woman whilst she transported a crate of dried food from one end of the city to the other. However, circumstances unfolding within Sunberth at the time would have it that simple, dried fried and meat would become more valuable than gold.

'Twas due to this shortage of food that the Akalak was even hired; and as such he took to his role dutifully. Initially, the job went well until both he and his client were beset by thieves intent on making off with her crate. As such, Dor'gen staunchly defended his client and claimed two of the three lives that opposed him. However, in the process, he suffered a relatively minor dagger wound (that was unfortunately placed), on top of Overgiving. Of the two consequences of this encounter, the damage wrought by the Overgiving was the worst: for it literally dislocated his shoulder out of place. Such was the price one had to pay when tampering with magick; and as such Dor'gen was in dire need of a healer. Upon receiving directions to a seemingly wonderful healer located within the so-called Quay, Dor'gen immediately set off find this location.

It took the towering male several chimes to navigate his way through the various twists and turns of the Quarters. He staggered through alleys, trudged through the streets, and ultimately arrived at the fortified residence sometime later. With each step, his body howled in agony; but there was nothing that Dor'gen could do but endure it. The whole of the way over, with teeth clenched and eyes watering, the Akalak forced himself forward. His pace was slow, yet consistent; and upon arrival relief washed over him like a mighty tide. Once he made the final turn and witnessed the rather imposing structure, he was also greeted by the sound of thanks being expressed by a grateful mother. At her feet were a pair of children, who were also thanking a single woman.

Blonde. Pale. Beautiful....This woman was a Konti.

Although the Akalak had seen a handful of members of this race during his brief stay in Riverfall, he never had the opportunity to see one up close. In fact, up until today, the opportunity had never presented itself for him to speak with a Konti; let alone commission her services. Under different circumstances, Dor'gen might have considered this moment special...but the pain which dominated his attention spurned him to focus on the task at hand. He needed help. Her help. Striding forth, Dor'gen kept his teeth together in a tight clench as he made his way over. For some reason, the final stretch seemed to be the most painful, yet the Akalak made it with little trouble. Upon coming to a halt before the woman, he inclined his head in greeting. It was then that he was addressed in Tukant.

"Ah...C-Common please. My Tukant is not very good." he croaked, taking her gestures as an indication that it was alright to come in. "My name is Dor'gen, thank you for seeing me." he began whilst taking sluggish steps into the interior of the Clinic. "I got into a scuffle just now...dislocated my shoulder and got stabbed in the air...Could you help me? I'll gladly pay whatever you c-charge." he said. His words were strewn together as fast as his mouth could form them, for his body screamed for a conclusion to the pain. Turning, the Akalak ground his teeth together whilst gently raising his dominant arm. There, sticking out of his forearm, was a dagger.

It had not impaled his flesh all too deep, but common sense dictated that yanking it out of this spot could potentially nick a vein. In the interest of not bleeding out, Dor'gen left the weapon where it had wounded him and sought help. Likewise, his left shoulder had been forcibly shoved out of place due to the energies produced by his Overgiving. This was a dull, throbbing pain that was continuously grating on him. To say the very least, the Giant absolutely needed assistance...and he needed it now.

She was surprised he was in Sunberth but even more that he couldn't speak Tukant too well either? Hmm she could assume he wasn't born in Riverfall and that obviously not his father raised him up. Strange, but could provide interesting tales for later. And he seemed very polite too, not to mention balanced with his dual nature. The Healer haven't noticed the other soul in him yet, which was a good side. If they didn't fight over dominance even in pain, she could work better. Hopefully that wouldn't change. "Hurry, hurry!"

As he came in, she closed the door after him. It was time to healing again, he already told the problem so she could move on and check with her own eyes and do her job. "Sorry, I prefer Common too, I just thought I would be a bit nice, but let's see what we have hear." First it was better to deal with the dagger. She stepped closer to him. It was pierced slightly into his arm, the wound didn't seem large and the bleeding was stopped by the blade. Smart move, she just had to pull it out and she could close it before he could even lose any drop of blood from his body. This was the easiest part.

She pulled a chair to him, close to the table. "Sit down please." Gestured her patient to sit and if he did she could continue on and explain what would happen. S'Essy always told them what she would do. Being prepared mentally also helped. It's helping her at least. "Okay big guy, I'm glad the dagger is still in, you didn't lose blood. And even if you got a little infection from the dagger, my healing will cleanse it. So in 3 I will pull it out. Ready? 1...2...3!" She grabbed the danger, pulled it out. She didn't even think, on that moment her other hand pressed onto the wound and she mend it with her power.

And it was no more like his injury never happened. She was smiling when she pulled away her hand and was proud of herself. Every little healing was making her proud. "Isn't that wonderful? No pain, no wound. It's better than a mother's kiss to ease the pain, don't you think?" She said all happily. But now onto the not so happy matters. A dislocated arm. She had never had to deal with it in her life. It was odd, but it was time that she would do it. She had to think and come up with something. Maybe she has seen it somebody doing it.

She sighed and tried to think what to do. She knelt down to him, grabbed his arm with both of her hands. She was moving it slightly, trying to not cause anymore pain that he had already and to not cause any more damage. Yes... this was problematic. "I'll be honest with you. I will fix this I swear to my goddess, but it will take me a little time and... tries to figure it out. I have never done it. So I would ask you and your brother to stay calm." She wasn't sure if the other side of him could hear what she was saying but she hoped. "Okay I'm going to say sorry now. Please bear with me."

She was holding his arm and start to move it up, pushing it to go back into it's place. After a few times she had to realize this wasn't a good idea. She was moving it up then, back. No it didn't help and she had no idea in what order she was going. It was just stupid and senseless. She released him and her attention went the table. She walked there and the Konti checked how stable it was. Yeah, it wouldn't collapse. It could take a corpse too.

"Okay let me ask you to lie down on the table please and leave dislocated arm free. I swear, it will be over." She was smiling at him .

Healing can be painful (Dor'gen)

Urgency.

From a duo of sources, urgency was inspired on the part of the Akalak. Primarily, the words of the Konti inspired Dor'gen to put a pep in his trudging step in order to fully enter the establishment...but the pain which characterized his body was also one hell of a motivator. Once fully within the clinic, the woman remarked about her preference for the Common Tongue as well. During normal circumstances, this would have been a point in the conversation making process; but there was a dagger sticking out of Dor'gen's arm. As such, he was not exactly in the mood to talk much and instead put the whole of his focus on enduring the pain. When the woman mentioned taking a closer look at the wound, Dor'gen winced whilst holding out his maimed appendage.

A tick rolled by before he lowered his arm to his side and waited, only to be met with the din of wood scraping against the floor. The healer pulled up a chair and instructed the Akalak to sit down, which he did promptly. However, he moved in such a cautious manner as to not aggrevate his dislocated shoulder anymore than it already was. Now, what surprised the Akalak was what the Konti had decided to address him by. "Big Guy". He had been called a number of things throughout his two centuries of life, but this was certainly a first. Once again, if not for the fact that pain dominated the totality of his focus, Dor'gen would have remarked on this particular first...but kept his jaw fixed so that he might weather the storm of agony.

When the Konti gripped the dagger, ripples of fresh pain shot up Dor'gen's arm. A moderate grunt escaped him, but for the most part he endured just fine. On the count of three, however, the dagger was torn from his forearm and pain momentarily flared. Grunting audibly, Dor'gen prepared himself for the worst...before feeling nothing but a soothing sensation. 'Twas as if someone had replaced all the pain with warmth...and just as soon as it had occured, it was gone. Looking down, the Akalak noticed that his arm looked completely whole; there wasn't even a mark from where the dagger had impaled his flesh! "Wow." he breathed, before looking up to the Konti. Gratitude played within his eyes...alongside pain.

While one injury was attended to, there was still one left to go.

Now, Dor'gen thought he was in pain when he walked into the clinic, but what soon followed made his world hurt. First, the Konti announced that she had never reset a shoulder...which utterly baffled Dor'gen to the core. How the bloody petch did someone operate a Clinic in Sunberth of all cities and not know how to reset a shoulder? One would think that such an injury would have been commonplace! However, the Akalak was smart enough not to say a word of these thoughts; for offending a healer and getting kicked out would have left him in really rough shape. Instead, he simply nodded along...for if anything went wrong, she could always put that Healing power of hers to work, right?

Thus began the experimenting. The Konti took his maimed arm and lifted it every which way, each of which arousing fresh yelps and grunts of agony from the Akalak. After several failed attempts, the healer simply instructed him to lay upon the table and reassured him that success would be reached. With little option left, Dor'gen rose from the chair and did as told. As gently as possible, he lowered himself down upon the table in question and allowed his maimed arm to hang freely. To say the least, the position hurt...but Dor'gen held out hope that the Konti would fix his arm swiftly. "Ready when you are." he said.

Healing can be painful (Dor'gen)

She wasn't the best at it but she tried to help him as quickly as possible. He did as she asked and lied down and left his arm free. She could see the pain on his face, not the most comfortable pose for him. She grabbed his arm with both of her hands and was holding it still, in a straight line. He was really strong but that was not a surprise from an Akalak. How to move it to and what to do were still questions. She started to move his entire arm up slowly. One hand place one his elbow and the other on his shoulder gently.

She tried to remember what she has seen before in Riverfall or Mura. Something was familiar. With her hand on his shoulder, she was trying to tap the positions. Not much of a luck but she had an idea finally. First she was moving his arm slowly, pulling it away from his body then back. Not much happened yet. She was rising it up till she could. With her fingers still tapping his shoulder. It seemed better and she got confident. She pushed at his elbow forward a bit suddenly. Crack. She hoped she made the right thing. She slowly moving his arm around, making circles. It worked! His shoulder was relocated.

"Thank you, Rak'keli!" Came out from the Healer with a big relief. She bend his arm and placed on his body gently. Her smile was bigger and brighter this time. "Sorry for the pain, but I hope it's better. Rest a bit I'll get back, just a moment." She went to her little kit and was searching for some bandages. She needed to stabilize his shoulder so it would not get any further damage. She walked back to him.

"Okay big guy, I would like to ask you to sit up and keep your arm that way." And after he did as she asked, she started to wrap bandage tightly around his arm so his elbow would stay in place. It wasn't broken so she didn't want it that tight. After that, she only had to hang it around his neck. "I hope it's not too tight. I only ask you to rest this arm for 7-10 days at least and leave it like that. You don't want to hurt yourself again. If you think it's too much, you can take it off next day but at least today leave this one. "

Another job well done. She felt tired. S'Essy's job time was over. "Need anything else? And how come an Akalak is in here?" She asked, as she went to pack her things. She needed to rest.
