“thanks for yer patronage.” the blacksmith yelled after him as he walked out of the forge. Uneasily holding his new weapon and turning it over in his hands. With the latest cases of voilence in the streets, those freaky water dhani slithering around and who knows what else that was going on in the city these day's Raus had decided to go out and buy himself a weapon. He didn't know the first thing about how to fight with it or even how to hold it. But that could be learned later, a sharp piece of steel was very good at frightening people enough that they decided to run instead of trying to fight him. Sometimes looking as if you knew how to fight and handle things was enough to get through the day. He held it a few times and did a few sloppy practice stabs and swings as he walked through the empty alley. He didn't think it was a difficult looking weapon though, a sharpish point at the end and a single edge that was sharp. Chop and stab.

After that he slipped the weapon in the scabbard he bought as well and started to make his way home. Keeping his eyes and ears pealed as he did. The sky was quickly growing dark, most people where hiding in their homes already and he still had a long way to go before he was safely back home.

Raus felt uneasy as the streets he was walking through were deserted. Yes they were pretty close to the dustbed, but the mist didn't come into town and none of the dhani who fled in there had come out. So there really wasn't anything to be afraid of wasn't there? He started to hurry up slightly. A brisk walk. He didn't really want to chance a run and let something in the dustbed mists or so hear him and decide to pick him as it's next meal or drag him into the mists and do who knows what to him. He shuddered slightly as his mind went to dark places. The sun had already going down and the moon was barely as sliver in the sky. Was already dark enough without his thoughts adding to it. So he shook his head, trying to get the fear that was creeping up his mind away and continued walking. Slightly cursing himself for putting off buying a weapon till the last moment.

Thannis had spent most of the day slumped against a wall in some discarded backalley. Most Sunberthians would not dare to hang ariund the streets like this but Thannis had no fear for mere mortals anymore. In fact it was the saving of these mortals lives he was trying to commit in isolating himself away from the busy streets. He was having a particularly trying day in regards to his urges. He could taste phantom blood on his lips and in every living being he could almost here the pounding of blood in their veins. He'd spent most of the day curled up in a ball. People walking past him probably thought he was some junky lost in the thrall of ecstacy or withdrawal. In a way, he was a junky of a kind. A junkie for blood and he needed it now.

He didn't know for how many hours he had lain there when he heard the footsteps. He groaned. A long, anguished groan of discomfort and mental pain. He could hear the thumping again. The beating of a living heart pushing, pumping furious life. He rolled over and groaned again. He wanted to look. He shouldn't look. Looking would seal their fate. Looking was death. He couldn't help let out a longer, louder groan that almost bordered on a scream. His body stretched out and stiffened as he cried.

He was lying on his front now. His eyes opened and he viewed the sight of a man. A fleshbag filled with juicy, juicy blood. One arm swept over the ground outstretched to the man in what looked like a pathetic cry for help His eyes were filled with pain and he certainly looked like he was in pain. Unconsciously he was in the perfect position to bait his prey. He looked up at the fleshbag. “Heeeelp meeeee...!” He said in huis most pathetic voice. He didn't mean at all to bait his prey. When he said 'help me' he truly wanted help. The help that only his warm, beating heart could offer. “Heeeeeelp meeeee...!

A man lying on the ground, reaching out and groaning in what had to pain. Raus didn't see any wounds, but the guy was wearing dark clothes and blood was rather hard to see in the dark unless the light really hit it in the right way. Who knows, maybe the guy wasn't even stabbed. Getting hit with a club or any other blunt weapon could just break bones and cause internal bleeding. Just as deadly as getting stabbed he heard. Raus took a step towards the downed man before pausing a bit. Did he really want to help a downed guy when it was dark out? Wouldn't he be painting a target on his own back as well? He gave another look at the downed man as he groaned in pain. He scowled as he already knew his own decision. He couldn't leave this guy. He just might die from whatever wounds he had, or whatever was causing him pain even if he didn't die from wounds, he just might get killed by scavengers or the cold and that just let him feel sick. He walked closer to the man cursing his mind for not leaving him alone about it.

“Petching hai. Why are you lying around here? Got mugged? Pissed off the wrong guy?” He gave the man a lookover, he couldn't really see it right in the dark. But the guy looked deathly pale. Bloodloss? Internal bleeding? He didn't know. But he did know that whatever was wrong with him was dangerous.
“You know who you are? Can ya stand? Where did ya get hit or stabbed?” Raus slowly asked as he knelt next to the man. Looking for any blood or cuts on him. He grimaced when he really didn't see anything. So it probably wasn't a stabbing weapon or cutting weapon then.

“Petch.” He muttered underneath his breath. He didn't know the first thing on how to deal with internal bleeding of any sort. With a stab wound he could have made a flimsy bandage, but now the only hope was that he could get this guy to a doctor before he completely bled out. He just hoped that the guy kept talking and didn't fall unconcious. He had heard that was very bad. “Just keep whining about how much it hurts.” He bruskly said to the fallen man. “We gotta get you to a doctor and get a look at ya. You look petching pale, so stay with me okay?” He said as he grabbed one of the man's arms and started to pull him to his feet without aggravating his wounds. Without much succes.

For a moment it looked as if the man were going to leave him but then he came closer. His beating heart was louder now. Thannis closed his eyes and groaned again. He couldn't bear the sound any longer. “Ah... Ah... The aaaaaahhhhhhh.... Heelp me...” Was all he could manage in response to the man's questions. He couldn't hear them anyway. The sound was louder. It was deafening. Thump, th-thump thump! Thump, th-thump thumpity thump! Thannis was taking long shaking breaths even though he didn't need to. He was in a state of panic and delusion entirely.

He felt a tugging at his arms. The man was grabbing his arm. He was putting it around his neck. He was trying to help him onto his feet. “Aaaaaaaaaah!” He groaned for half trying to wanr the pesky intruder away. Thannis body didn't respond. Raus had no help in trying to get him to stand. He was trying to refuse for the man's own good. “Nooo, go, stop, I... Aaaaaaaaaah!” He groaned again as the heartbeat got even loader. It was beating so loud. It was impossible. It couldn't beat this loud. He couldn't hear it. No.

Aaaaaah!” Thannis groaned but it was too late. Thannis rose with the man easily. Suddenly his legs seemed able to take his weight and he wasn't breathing anymore. Thannis eyes shot open and they weren't filled with helplessness anymore. They were filled with anger, with hunger; the eyes of a monster. A monster who now had Raus in his grips. The arm across his should suddenly tightened like a vice which would pull the man's head into his body in a headlock. Raus didn't want to be in this headlock or his head would very soon pop like a grap. Fortunately, with a small margin for error, there was time to duck out of it.

“I'm helping I'm helping you delirious bastard.” Raus muttered, that wasn't good. The man wasn't answering his questions and just repeating The same words over and over again. He wasn't moving either. Was this guy a lost cause? He felt really cold. The man began almost to plead him to stop, to go away. Refusing to come up with him. Then all of a sudden he started to yell like something was being ripped out of him and he rose to his feet, without any of his help, then the man's eyes shot
open and looked down at his, those were the eyes of a hungry wild animal. Not of a wounded man.
Was the man mad? “The petch are you doi..” Raus started to yell, but the words died in his throat when the man's arm wrapped around his neck in a clumsy grip. A madman attacking somebody trying to help, that was nothing new. But the force behind it, that strength shouldn't belong to a thin man like him. Heck it shouldn't belong to any human. This wasn't a human. This was some kind of creature straight from the demented mind of a mage. A monster shaped like a man.

Instinct took over and at the last moment before the vice like grip slammed shut, most likely crushing his head like a nut, he ducked, slipping out of the grip. “The petch are you!” he yelled in a mixture of anger and horror. As he straightened himself back out he aimed a punch at the creature's abdomen and then backed away a few steps before the thing managed to get off a punch of his own. If he managed to get a few steps away he quickly tried to figure out his options. Escape meant he needed to turn his back to the creature and run. He didn't fancy his chances yet, he didn't know how fast the thing was. Nor anything else besides that it moved like a human and was slightly able to act like it. He balled his hands into fists and gritted his teeth. Letting his eyes flit over the dark place they were fighting. He didn't see any debris, the ground was just simple dirt, he could use that if he got the chance to maybe blind the creature. the walls were far away, but maybe if he managed to lure him towards one of them he could slam him against them somehow?

That was about all the examination Raus dared to do of his battlefield before giving the monster his undivided attention. He couldn't get caught again, he wouldn't be able to block those punches without hurting himself either. Not unless he managed to find a suit of armor laying about.

No all he had were his wits and his skill in brawling and for the first time in an unarmed fight, raus wasn't really sure if that was enough. Still, it was win or be at the mercy of that creature. So he was going to win this thing! He waited for the creature to make it's move. Let it take the first move and press on every single mistake it makes. And hope he didn't make any himself.

Thannis was in full rage now. His mind wasn't really there anymore. He either didn't feel or completely ignored the punch aimed at his abdomen. His opponent had skipped away too quickly to have landed a heavy hit. In order to do that he'd have to stand his ground which would certainly not be wise. These thoughts were not running through Thannis' mind at that moment though. The only thing that was going through his mind was getting his hands round Raus' neck.

His eyes darted to his opponent and he lunged forward. “Raaaargh!”He cried as he threw his whole body forward surprisingly quickly in a lung to head long tackle his opponent to the ground. He had the speed and versatility of one his size but the strength and weight of one much larger so when he had his victims in a grapple or on the ground he was always sure to win. However Thannis usually caught his prey through the use of trickery or were already so close to them when he struck they had no chance anyway. Raus had the advantage of a clear mind and probably even experience but could that make up for Thannis sheer strength?

The thing roared in anger as it charged at him as fast as it could. His punch hadn't even fazed the creature. Maybe he needed to aim at other spots to get any effect? He didn't have more chance to think about it as the creature was quickly closing the least few steps. Raus dodged to the side and used a basic trick that every brawler quickly learned to use. As soon as he got out of the way so that he wouldn't get trampled by the raging thing. He ducked and kicked at the creature's feet. It was just a quick kick to get the thing unbalanced so that he got a bit of breathing room to think a bit more on how he was going to tackle this problem. But if the creature faceplanted itself into the dirt that would be even better. Weither it tripped the creature or not. Once again he quickly retreated a few steps as soon as he did the kick. Almost scampering over the dirt floor. Taking advantage of the fact he was so close to the dirt ground he scooped up a bunch of dirt in his left hand before standing back up. Glaring at the creature as he thought about what to do next. He was almost dancing circles around the creature now, but he couldn't keep that up forever and who knew how enduring that thing was.

He couldn't count on any help, most would just ignore the fight, especially when nobody else was around. If it was seen at all in the darkness. That only left the walls before him and behind him. Try to lure them to either of them and slam his face against it till it bled. It was a shaky plan, especially since the thing was so much stronger then he was and his head was a bit higher up then was comfortable for raus to reach. But he really didn't have another plan at the moment.

Unbalanced creature or not, he was behind it for just a few moments, moments he needed to take advantage of quickly and deal at least a few blows. He quickly moved up towards the creature. Hoping it wasn't able to turn around or recover in time and gave a solid kick aimed at it's left leg.

By no quick thinking of his own and entirely by chance Thannis was not tripped up the outstretched foot. Instead he actually ended up stepping on it with something of a sickening crunch but his momentum carried him on for a few more steps so he did not stay atop Raus' foot. Thannis whipped around and his eyes scanned the alleyway for his opponent. He advanced toward him slower this time. Thannis didn't have his mind at the moment but he had instinct. Even a beast knew to change tactics when the situation demanded it. His eyes, though heavy with rage, were keenly acute. As acute as one's eyes could be in the simpering shadows of the dark alley.

He suddenly rushed forward at his opponent. His speed and demeanor suggested another charge but as he drew within reach of his target he suddenly lunged to the left as if to run past him except his arm came up and out from his body like a wing so that if he did run past his opponent his arm would collide with their neck. It was not a strike one wanted to land. That was for certain.

OOCIf the stepping on your foot is terribly, terribly heavy handed and godmodding as it may well be please PM me and I'll change it. I don't mind changing it at all.

Raus gritted his teeth as the creature stepped on his foot a pain shot through it. He managed to keep to his feet, so he doubted anything was broken. But each step he took with it send another shot of pain through his foot. Which made walking pretty damn difficult. He still tried to keep to his previous plan. Rush the petching thing and kick it at it's feet. His painfull foot be damned! He barely was able to take a few steps before the beast had already turned around and swung at him with those disturbingly strong arm's of him. Raus ducked and tried to punch back. Only for his bad foot to petch out and raus fell hard on the dirt ground. Still clutching that dirt in his hand as he fell.

He let out a scream as he felt something hard dig into his side as he fell. He rolled away from the blasted creature as his mind finally got jarred out of the old routine of beating stuff up with his fist and stuff lying around to remember that he just bought a short sword and that he probably should be starting to use it now. Sure he didn't have a clue on how to use it. But petch he didn't really have much other choices other then getting pounded into paste now didn't he? Got himself back on his feet, leaning heavily on his one foot that wasn't hurt and drew the shortsword, holding it in front of him as if it might scare of the creature.

“you want some steel ya freak?” He spat at the creature, trying to hide the slight shiver of fear in his voice. Honestly, who wouldn't be at least slightly scared in his position. Hard to move, the petching thing was stronger then him and he only had a single weapon that he barely knew how to use! .. well didn't know how to use at all to be fair.

oocI'm okay with you stepping on the foot. Doubt it'll be broken or anything bad with it though. It'll hurt for a long while though! :)
