If a man's life was summarized by everything he does then Marone's life would be quite a depressing one since he mostly worked with either unbearable hot fires and bones of the dead. Especially the dead which met violent ends in Sunberth. In other words Marone's life can easily summarized as him being in hell for most of the time in his life.
It was the reason why Marone would now spend the afternoon at the park. Even if the Riverside Isle Park is used by the Daggerhands he disliked so much to demonstrate their power Marone figured if he wasn't caught as a member of the Sun's Birth he shouldn't be harassed too badly. He has also visited the park a few times before and never met any trouble before.
The park is quite the calming place to be in all things considered.
And the most calming part of the park as Marone has found was the wading pool. It was there where Marone sat with his feet dipped in the water while he watched the population which came to enjoy the park. As a force of habit Marone was looking at them for signs of weapons. He was a weaponsmith after all.
The habit was both to assure himself of his own safety and to catch up with the trend of weapons used in Sunberth which he might dedicate himself to making. His eyes moving from person to person he saw the common weapons. Swords, daggers, axes. Some even had bows on them. These of course were the ones obvious to him. It wasn't a bad thing to do. Showing a weapon might dissuade someone from trying anything funny.
In his observations Marone's eyes caught something curious. At first it was because he was looking a sword with a very interesting design and when he looked down to its tip he found something small scurrying by it. It looked like a tiny little statue but the strange part was it was moving. Marone didn't know what to make of it but he immediately stood up so he could get a better look at it.
Maybe one day if he wants to go beyond carving crude weapons he could move on to something like that. He only needed to know the secret of how to make a statue move.
The secret in making the statue move wouldn't be the only reason for Marone to be curious about this statue. It was also for knowledge. In essence knowledge is power and in expanding his knowledge Marone would be able to be more powerful. Especially in how he could use his malediction. In the ways he can bring out the latent power in the remains that he can acquire.
He would never know when one of these statues could get into his hands for him to test his malediction on. Especially in Sunberth. It was only a matter of time.
Marone eventually was following behind the statue as it was trying to get through the other people at the park. Because Marone had no reason to actually confront the creature he decided to do it subtly. Walking just like the other onlookers which took a look at the creature and ignored it as they went on their way as if it was only a passing curiosity Marone followed behind it. Keeping his feet gently so he wouldn't make a sound when his feet touched on the ground.
Probably the only reason why Marone would stand out from the reset of the people around the walking statue besides his attempts in keeping quiet while he shadowed it was because he was paying a whole lot of attention on the statue compared to everyone else.
Just got a new job. Will be trying to keep the stuff which I'm doing going at the very least so no one has to wait.
