Breathe…. take a small step….. breath.
Aliara stood on a branch, arms above her head and eyes closed. She wore a simple white shirt and pair of breeches, and for once had managed to put her hair up and out of her eyes. she was completely relaxed and focused, well apart from the recurring thought that she was hungry. The common castle had stopped selling food 15 or so days and Aliara had already stolen from two people and she was extremely bad at it.
Inhaling deeply Aliara held her breath and counted to five, still in the same position balancing on the the branch, exhaling she took another step. The bark scratched and tickled at her bare feet, drawing Aliara’s focus from her breathing and balancing. She wobbled and squeezed her eyes shut.
“Stay Focused!”
Her mind was her worst enemy, it caused Aliara to not hold her focus. It was amazing she had managed a bell standing in a tree with her eyes closed. Her leg muscled burnt and she was certain that her shoulders were sunburnt. Her stomach growled and Aliara lost all focus and wobbled dangerously on the branch, hearing it crack slightly, Hey eyes snapped open and she swore softly.
“Petch!”
Aliara tensed and spun, attempting in the short amount of time to spin around and launch herself at the trunk of the tree. The tree fall beneath her and Aliara along with it, her fingertips just grazing the trunk. A scream left her lips just was cut off by the sound of her slamming into the ground.
She couldn't move for a while. she just laid there on her side. shooting down her spine and into her head. Aliara had fallen out of a tree, it came back to her slowly, the branch breaking and her trying to reach for the tongue. Laying there for few chimes Aliara finally decided she should go home and rest, sitting up Aliara tried to push herself up with her left arm but found she wasn't moving up at all. frowning she pushed up with her other hand, maybe just under a little shock.
Aliara took a few steps before she realized that her left arm wasn't moving, just laying limp at her side. To scared to look at her shoulder Aliara began to run back towards home and the one place she would find help

Tink was walking to the Clinic. Ugh. Not the most enjoyable place to go. Yeah he was able to help people and he earned some Mizas, too. However, Tink didn't know if it was worth it after having to deal with Dr. Petricious. That name sent shivers through Tink's bones. He was a cold-hearted man who experimented on his helpless patients. One time, he cut of a limb of a perfectly healthy businessman! He claimed that it would grow infected, but Tink knew he just liked torturing people. Dr. Petricious said that there were no morals in trying to figure out ways to better help people. Tink disagreed. It's not to hard to look out for the good of your patient and learn something new. Tink assumed that Petricious was probably just crazy.
I don't want to have to deal with Petricious today. Who knows what else he is gonna do to helpless patients. At least I'm not required to help him during his experiments. I would definitly quit if I had to. I wish I didn't have to work with him. One day, I'm going to stop him. Maybe
Tink was walking along grumbling when something caught his eye. This female was balancing hersef on a tree and dancing. It was beautiful. Maybe Petricious wouldn't care if Tink was a few minutes late. He would volunteer to do some extra work around the place. It wouldn't hurt anybody.
Spying on the girl,Tink was enjoyable gazing at her and her moves when she suddenly fell. From several feet in the air, she slipped and fell. He heard a scream anda groan. At least now he had an excuse to both help the girl and for being late.
Running over Tink yelled, "Are you okay? Need some help?" |

Aliara heard the voice before she saw the man, her eyes blurry with tears she sniffled and sobbed. Her arm felt funny and she knew not to go to the clinic, you don't came back the same from the clinic. Clutching her arm up to her chest she sobbed as it began to ache.
She had been doing so well, her balance had been much better than before with only 7 or so wobbles and slips. Aliara looked down and saw the man and whimpered. Her hair was a mess of leaves and knots but it still managed to hold its bun, her clothes dusty with the dust that she had fallen in.
the man began to come clear as her tears rolled down her cheeks, her shoulder arched and she couldn't feel her arm. Looking slowly at her shoulder she realised that it looked odd, something was certainly wrong with it, wrong and painful.Checking her other should she finally knew, it was dislocated. Aliara cursed herself how could she be so stupid!
“My… Shoulder… I was practicing and the branch snapped..”
He was a short man so Aliara dropped to her knees so she could show him her shoulder before slowly and painfully standing back up. Her white blouse covered most of the dislocation but if someone was to look over her, they would clearly see something wrong. Aliara had been up the tree for bells, bells on end and she had never stood on branches that couldn't hold her weight, how could this have happened?
Aliara had always been careful, she wasn't the best climber in she knew it, Aliara mainly just free ran up the tree to flip on it or she just balanced and danced like she had been today. Maybe she had be wrong, maybe the tree today had been dying? or rotting? Turning her attention back to the man Aliara clutched her arm..

The injury to the woman's shoulder made Tinks stomache churn. It was crooked and bent and looked broken. Tink assumed that it was. However, he wouldn't know for sure until he check it out. Which, conveniently, would be very soon. Tink hoped that he would be able to settle the woman down. She clearly looked stressed out. So was Tink, if the shoulder was dislocated rather than broken, it would require brute force from Tink. Along with a good helping of luck. This could get dicey. Atleast, the woman looked like she had and could handle pain.
"I find that it's best totalk during an operation. It takes the patients mind off of the pain and helps them focus on something else. So,tell me about yourself. What do ya do for a living? Where ya from? First, though,I guess we should start with the basics. What's your name, and how old are you? Lay down. That will make my job a lot easier."
While Tink was asking these questions, the woman listened to him and laid down. Good; She obeyed instructions alot better than some of Tink's previous patients. Tink walked over to the woman's shoulder and pulled the sleeve of her shirt down from it allowing him to get a closer look.Feeling it with his hands, Tink couldn't feel a break in the bone. None of the bone was sticking up out of the skin either. That was a good sign, and Tink believed he was dealing with a dislocated shoulder instead. Good. Very tood.
"This must be your lucky day, young lady! The bones not broken. It's just dislocated. I must warn you though,it's not going to be easy to replace the bone. It may take several tries, and it will definitely be painful. The relief will far outway the pain, however."
Time for a gameplan. Tink was far too small and his arms wouldn't wrap around her shoulder anyway. Furthermore, Tink doubted that he was even strong enough to force the bone back in. Dr Petricious claimed that shoulder bones were the strongest bones in the body. Tink hoped that this was another of his lies.
Hmm. How can I replace her bone? I certainly can't just walk away and leave her in this state. Wait. What if I brace her against the tree and ram my whole body into her shoulder. It's not the scientific way, but it should work.
The shoulder was angled toward her neck and was bulging outward in the same spot. Tink figured that the woman was in lots of pain, but wouldn't admit it. He hoped that this would work.
"Hey, lady, I need you to lay on the ground facing me with your shoulder resting up against the tree. I know this sunds weird, but you need to trust me. This is gonna hurt. I promise everything is going to be okay."
Should the lady agree to Tink's plan hewould proceed. The woman was laying down per his instructions. Stepping back about three feet Tink ran as fast as he could and rammed into her shoulder. However, the first attempt did not work. Time to try again. He steped back even farther, nearly five feet, and once again ran. Headed straight toward the bulge in her shoulder, Tink threw his body against her arm, smashing it into the tree. Pop! That sound was music to Tink's ear. It meant his plan worked.
"There! It worked just like I said it would. Now,everything should go back to normal!" |
