12 Bells through Autumn 85th - 514 AV (Zeltiva City) |
It wasn't an honestly bad day, in Alen's eyes. At the very least it wasn't a rotting cold as he'd experienced many times before on the sea road to Zeltiva. It was something of a relief to see buildings that weren't merely temporary huts for bandits or random and small Pycon shelters. As the boat pulled into the dock, and Alen took in the aesthetics of the town, he couldn't help but also notice the eerie similarity it held to his previous home. He supposed that it could be expected, with both towns being heavily oriented around the bodies of water they resided on - he noticed the East Wing almost immediately, and the shadow that seemed to be cast over it by the lack of attractiveness (or lighting) in buildings, despite it being only midday.
Eventually, the boat came to a stop. The man that had helped them on their way wanted a word with someone else from the boat before everyone left. Alen couldn't really care who it was that he wanted to speak to, and so proceeded to say goodbye to the shipmates that would be continuing the journey to other cities beyond Zeltiva.
"It was good," Alen spoke out to the taller man that had shared so many conversations with him before arrival. Alen threw some nearby candles into the deep pockets of his jacket, this was un-detected, as far as he was aware, and he did this as his 'friend' responded.
Alen had proclaimed his riddance of the rest of the crew, as much pain as it brought him to do so, and detached himself emotionally as best he could. Then, without allowing distraction to grasp him, he hopped over the side of the boat (Alen didn't know or want to know what any part of the ship was called, he just referred to them by directional gestures), and onto the lovely wooden pier.
It was a strange feeling, landing on something that didn't want to make you adjust your feet to its trajectory, and so Alen slipped and landed with his face to the ground seconds after hitting the pier. The sailors and workers that were sharing the docks laughed slightly, as this was an amateur function, and something they no longer had to put up with - though they saw a lot.
One of the sailors even added, "Welcome to Zeltiva," Before chuckling to himself and moving some crates away into the distance. Alen didn't know whether or not his brother was right behind him, as he was too busy restoring himself to his feet and waving goodbye to the others that had departed here. Suddenly, Alen lifted his head to gain a view of the whole city from the pier, and a smile tore into his face with no delay.
Alen didn't take a single breath, the town seemed to sweep his vision as if in panorama. Citizens bustled in the streets and the waves lapped up against the shore as they hadn't done back in Ravok. Several flocks of the local birds were circling the extensively tall mountain range and the hills beneath them only layered the town for more impressive dynamics.
A building caught Alen's eye, tucked away behind the major streets of the culture. It was an impressive building, though Alen knew not what for - surely people only come to towns for the entertainments and businesses? This building was neither. It was in fact the University; Alen, however, had little need or interest for knowing that.
Before long, he'd adjusted to being on solid ground, and so decided he'd take a small gander at what else was on the pier. Shortly after stepping forward, however, something made lurch back in alarm. A homeless man sat innocently yet suspiciously where the pier connects to the land, and he made eye contact with Alen. Alen turned to the boat from where his brother should be coming from, and pretended as though he needed to shout him for something... SPACE |
