A Day of Training for a Reimancer

4th day of Fall, 510 A.V.

Having had a decent meal the night before and something even more of a god send, a warm dry place to sleep, Jonas was up before the sun was. Though as he walked through the Icewall Gates, leaving the city, he did surmise that at this time of the year around here it did not a great deal of sunshine until much later in the evening then what was normal for places located further south in Mizahar then this place of eternal winter. Why his family had decided to migrate here he had never known.

Jonas kept his head facing down yet again, the occasional breeze serving as a deterrence to raising his face. He however did not need to completely avert his gaze from the train for he remembered passing this way the day before and he remembered a large clearing but a few hundred yards outside the city. For what he had planned he had to be outside the city lest the Icewatch decide he was causing trouble. On top of that it had been years since he had been to Avanthal, and there for had no idea about their views on magic or Reimancy itself for that matter. Outside of the faint sound of the city at his back, Jonas could hear no noises outside the occasional crash of snow as a branch became to leadened with the stuff and gravity took over, clearing the branch of its unwieldly burden.

It didn't take long for Jonas to reach his destination, the spot being a clearing just off the road but close enough he could reach it in but a few moments if need be. Jonas slowly strolled over to a small tree, deliberately clearing off as much snow from the lower branch as he could, before stripping off his winter cloak and laying it on the branch. Despite having worse two rather think shirts and trowsers to match he felt a sudden bite of cold as the a gust of wind seemed to rip though him again.

Jonas had made his way to the center of the clearing moments later and sat kneeling in the snow. His breathing had slowed, he sat there almost as if death had claimed him. This was not meditation however. Jonas was preparing for what was to come, the pain, the pleasure, the exhilaration. Jonas let out yet another breath, the difference between his internal heat and the cold surrounding him causing the breath to come out as a thick white mist. His mind how ever was on other things as he sat there concentrating on his hand. Soon he felt his inner Djed swell, responding to his will as a green mist began to form over his his left hand. Only a speck at first but gradually more and more of the unnatural stuff appearing floating a mere hair's breath above his hand, appearing to take no natural form.

A sudden jerk from his right hand and his eyes snapping open however did not allow the Res to be formless for much longer. With the sudden movements of both his eye lids and his other hand the gas's inner working seemed to solidify to a near liquid, the outer layer continueing to be a gas. As Jonas gestured yet again with his right hand the Res elongated keeping its inner and outter condensites as it did, becoming long and tendril shapped. With one edge still mere inches from his hand and the other stretched out into the air like a constricting serpent, Jonas brought his middle finger to his thumb and with a sudden jerk causing a snapping sound. As if on que the outter gassy part of the res ignited, with the center keeping its almost liquid emerald sheen. Making sure not to ignite the center Jonas began moving his left and right hands in curcuit, the trendil beginning to wither truly like a serpent now. Moving his hands faster the serpent of flame withered its way around him and into the adjacent area surrounding him doing intricate flips and swirls before flying high into the air. After pushing the serpent to the very edges of his control, before moving both his hands in a downward sweeping motion. The flames no longer resembled that of a serpent but now that of a spear, speeding for the snowy floor.

Instead of burrying its way into the ground as one would expect from something so resembling a a spear the instant the green insides of the spear of flames hit the ground it burst into a new large cloud of green mist, the flames that had been surrounding it causing a hissing noise as it came in contact with the snow and was extinguished.

A Day of Training for a Reimancer

Postby Kaori Frostfawn on October 31st, 2010, 3:49 pm

The wind-beating sound of flapping wings outside a frost covered window had Kaori awake and watching an unusual bird hovering outside in the snow. She sat up in her warm, quilted bed and watched for a couple more seconds at the creature before deciding to get into some warm clothes and snow boots to follow it outside. Never seeing this type of bird had her curious as to what it was doing here. She had lived in Avanthal her entire life, so seeing a new creature was unusual for her and she wondered if it was just her imagination. The rest of the hold was still asleep so it wasn't difficult for Kaori to slip out the front door into the barely-illuminated snowy morning. Following the house around to where her window was, and where she had spotted the bird, Kaori saw that it wasn't hovering there any more, but instead it was flying towards the city's gates.

As she was following the bird she realized that, once the bird had stopped flying and landed in a tree, she had wondered outside of the city. She wasn't far, so she didn't worry too much about going back, instead she walked to the tree the small bird had landed in. Just then she noticed that this bird was actually a common one, but had a pink rose petal attached to its wing. She let out a small laugh and looked around at where she was. Never before had she actually wondered out of the city, although she had always wanted to, and she grew curious of what was out there. Trailing through the snow, she walked father from the gates into the snow covered clearing just outside the city. Everything around her caught her interest and she studied all the small animals and flowers she hadn't seen often inside the gates. A glimpse of a green light had Kaori walking towards a dark spot in the snow she guessed was a person.

A Day of Training for a Reimancer

Postby Jonas on October 31st, 2010, 4:46 pm

Jonas let out another deep breath, the warm air crystalizing mid air to form the white mist that washed over his extended hands. A small trickle of sweat began to roll down his temple, sliding onto his cheek and finding his scar, using it as a way of moving down his face at a quicker pace. Moving one of his hands up he slowly wiped the cooling moisture from his chin. As he moved his hand back to its previous position he was forced to bite his lip slightly as the urge to call on more Res nearly over took him. Temptation was one of thing Reimancers were forced to struggle with every time they called upon their magical powers. The risk of overgiving and causing injury were always there and for most Reimancers an all too real threat. With the urge to summon more Res quelled he turned his full attention back on the green mist floating in front of him, still suspended in the air, still unmoving.

Once both his hands sat parallel once again he made another gesture he caused the mass of green mist to start falling in on itself. Slowly at first then quicker the green mist folded, swirled and folded again. Soon where there had once floated a large wall of mist, now floated but a small sphere the size of a man's head. Grinning slightly he snapped the fingers on his right hand again, the outter layer of the sphere obeying his command and igniting. The grin became a full out smile. Its not that his Res needed a snap to ignite. If he wanted to for that matter, he could cause the Res to ignite from his will alone. However using a snap to cause sudden changes to the Res made him feel more in control, that was a feeling one very much needed when using Reimancy. If one were too careless and forgot even for a moment just how dangerous overgiving was it would mean certain injury. Jonas had however completely stopped concentrating on the the fire coated ball of Res floating above his hand. A sharp burning sensation brought him back to the moment, the skin covering his left hand red and steaming slightly in the cold air. Cursing himself under his breath he motioned sharply with his right hand. The Res core within the flames abruptly took on a clear quality and burst out from the center of the fire in all directions, pelting Jonas' face with a freezing gust of air, the fire long since extinguished thanks to the Res formed air created within.

It's odd how odd I am...
