Crouching down Khal ran a finger over the name inscribed on the stone feeling more than seeing the letters, the moon hung half hidden behind some clouds, making seeing the etchings rather difficult. Head tilting to one side his eyes shifted to an orange hue before he stood up, straightening the cloak that protected him from the night chill.

Winter wasn't too far off now, not that the temperatures of Syliras winters would bother him overmuch, clasping his hands behind his back the Vanthan wandered further into the garden, taking care to avoid the small dark shapes of other people, mostly those who had passed out from drink or couples sneaking away for revendous.

He let his eyes skim over the night sky, lingering on one of his favorite constellations before his gaze returned earthward and he continued his night stroll.

[The stone Gardens] Night walking (Open)

Postby Nehsmay on October 31st, 2010, 6:31 pm

Nehsmay quietly made her away across the garden, wrinkling her nose at the passed out men in the garden. She simply wished for a place where she could be alone and undisturbed, able to think about her past and future. She knew she would have to go back sooner or later, but she preferred later rather than sooner.

She walked to a relatively quaint place of the garden, where flowers were still in bloom despite the harshness of autumn. She wondered what kind of flowers they were and how they had come to grow during the chilly weather

Nehsmay sat down on a rock and started humming to herself, softly then louder and finally she started singing an old tune her mother used to sing to her when she was young.

I live my dreams in this wonderous place
Blessed by the gods with their holy grace
I pass through the forests of this divine world
Where I hear the gentle rustle of the leaves of gold...

The soft sounds of a song floated languidly through the air and Khal tilted his head curiously to one side, his eyes shifting towards orange as he set off in that direction. His long stride carrying him over the garden through the night as a bird cry overhead drew his attention, he glanced up, looking for the silhouette of the bird against the stars before suddenly finding himself running into the sitting Nehsmay and tripping over her, sprawling to the ground opposite and blinking several times, glancing around.

"Hi, sorry, who're you? Are you alright?" He asked quickly as he sat back up, checking over himself quickly for injuries or missing items before peering quizzically at the human stumbling block.

Nehsmay had just finished the first part of her song when suddenly she felt something knock the air out of her and make her fall off her rock. Her eyes turned pitch black in fright and she looked frantically around trying to see what had happened. She soon calmed down seeing it was a young man who had knocked her over.

"I'm ok." She replied while standing up and brushing her clothes. Her crimson cloak fluttered around her as the wind started blowing a bit, but Nehsmay ignored it. She glanced at the man in front of her with a weird expression on her face and answered "I'm Nehsmay. May I inquire who stumbled over me?" She smiled kindly, trying to show she was not mad and her eyes turned a shade of reddish brown... she was still not comfortable around the starnger.

Khal stood, blinking a few times as his eyes shifted towards orange.
"Oh right, sorry I'm Khal." He offers her a hand to help her stand. "Sorry about that, but you know it was kind of your own fault. Sitting there, minding your own business, wearing bright colours that are easily seen in darkness." He tells her, a smile tugging slightly at the corner of his mouth. "Totally had it coming."

He finished with a smile,
"Nice cloak by the way.”

Nehsmay laughed cheerfully at his answer and smiled seeing his eyes change color... so he was a Vantha as well. She hadn't seen him around in Avanthal, but then again she hadn't left her Hold too much and when she did it was to meet with Shade.

"Excuse me..." She smirked "I should have known that sitting peacefully in one place was inviting trouble." She looked at her cloak when he complimented it and answered. "Thank you. My mother bought it for me from a Kelvic merchant who stopped in Avanthal for a few days. She thought it would be perfect for my trip." She glanced at Khal for a moment then added brightly "Nice to meet you, Khal... I knew I was forgetting something." She frowned and glanced at the swirls of leaves brought up in the air by the autumn wind. Next to her the blooming flowers were shivering in the wind, unbeaten yet by the slightly harsh weather.

"Exactly." He replied with a nod.

"Avanthal..." The conman peered at her closely for a moment, checking to make sure he didn't recognize her. It wasn't terribly likely but when he left Avanthal he wasn't held in particularly high regard by its populace. Satisfied at last that he didn't the man nodded to her and smiled.

"So what brings you this far south? Is it the weather? I have to say being able to go outside at night without being completely covered in furs is refreshing to me at least." Khal told her, "And what brings you out here tonight? To sit around so irresponsibly?" He asked her with a grin.

Nehsmay peered at him curiously as he looked her up and down, probably she thought, trying to determine whether he knew her or not. She wondered what Hold he had come from, but decided against asking since he didn't seem very keen on talking about their home town.

"I'm traveling..." she said with a slight pause in her voice. "I'm only remaining in Syliras until the beginning of winter then I'll move on to Zeltiva. I'm searching for someone... a friend...Though the weather is nice." Nehsmay smiled happily looking at the golden leaves. "I didn't know the leaves can have so many pretty colors, I've only heard about them in songs."

She bend down and picked up a reddish brown leaf as closest to her eye color as she could find and started twirling it between her fingers. "I came out to see the garden..." she said "I wanted to see flowers and bushes that aren't covered in a thick layer of snow." She admitted feeling a bit silly about the whole thing.

"Oh?" Khal asked curiously, "What's your friend's name? Maybe I know them."

He nodded his assent about the colours of the leaves.
"It is a bit of a change, although I've been down south for a few years now so sad to say I'm somewhat used to it."

"It is a nice garden I must admit. I prefer seeing things like this at night time, it just feels better. Also there's less noisy children around to ruin it." He remarked with a small frown.

"So you came all this way for a friend? Did she run away from home or something? That's quite the journey." The Vanthan observed.

Nehsmay smiled as she thought back at Shade. "I don't think you know him..." she said calmly wondering where could her friend be at the moment. "His name is Shade... He is a Kelvic... his mistress died... I wasn't good enough to fill that place in his heart." She smiled sadly and turned her attention to the garden surrounding her.

"I'll find him one day and I'll knock some sense in that stubborn leopard head of his." She laughed as she thought how surprised he would be if she'd actually do that. "But I think that doesn't really interest you." She turned towards Khal and asked with curiosity. "What are YOU doing so far away from home? And for such a long time? Don't you feel lonely?" She blushed noticing she was going too far.

"I'm sorry, you don't need to answer, after all it's your business what you do. You don't even know me, why should you even answer?"
