Questions about slaves

Alija is considering owning a slave, but I can't find any information on it. Any help? (It might be a Kelvic)

1. What laws are there on slaves? Is there anything owners must, or can't do?
2. Where would a slave stay? Alija lives in a one room cottage. Would they sleep there? And would a kelvic sleep in a bed or as an animal?
3. How much would it cost to upkeep a slave, especially Kelvic?
4. Would a slave be able to get a separate job, and so be expected to pay for themselves(or at least a part of it)?
5. How would they be treated? How much freedom?
6. What would happen in a (kelvic) slave auction? How would they go through it?

Please apply all these questions to a companion slave, most likely Kelvic.
