The Courage to Forgive

Kendhl went on to be her usual optimistic self, despite her audible tears, leaving Gale with his thoughts. Everything was going to be okay, it's okay, we can do this and that. It's all the same, it's always been the same. No matter who it what or where you were, it was always going to be alright, it was always going to be fine. Well where were they all when he was getting his fingers ripped off and amputated? Where were they all when he jumped into the ocean? Where were they petching all when Kendhl died.

It wasn't going to be okay. It never was.

People can say it all they want but it didn't change the fact that it wasn't. It didn't change time, it didn't change the world, it doesn't even change someone's petching mind. That bloody kelvic didn't change his mind. Ricky didn't change his mind, heck, it didn't even change his own mind. So what was the point in saying it was all going to be okay?

Even she knew it wasn't.

His chest tingled with a familiar sensation as he sniffed, allowing her to continue on. It would be nice to have someone take care of Martin and Fenvour, but he didn't take care of them anymore. Ricky and Telion were back and with no intention on leaving again any time soon. Whether should could actually help or not was also a question. But what if she turns like that again and scares him, or scares Ricky and Telion? What if she did it again with him?

Why did she do that in the first place?

It just didn't seem to make any sense. Was she that oblivious to the situation to not know how seeing her dead made him feel or was it something shouldn't control? Did she do it on purpose to scare him or just to be cruel? He didn't know what to think about it. He didn't even know what to think about any of it. Didn't know what to think about her right now, as a ghost. He didn't know. What was he supposed to think?

Once Kendhl was finished, Gale took elongated deep breath in, letting it out as slowly as possible. He then folded his hands together and looked back at her. With his blue eyes trying to blink away the water, he spoke with his voice wavering briefly,"
Ricky was the one that buried you." his gaze fluttered away, looking out the window. The sun was almost done setting over the horizon. "I forced him to bury you. " He sniffed again, wiping his nose with his wrist. "He carried me to the Infirmary and he got rid of that dog's head I brought back with me." He shook his head, now looking at the floor. "He listened to me reject him and abuse his comfort." He chuckled, still shaking his head. "He gave me a home when I had nowhere to belong, he made me- I'm Martin's Godfather for Ssena's sake." Gale leaned back in his chair, putting his hands in his lap. "That man has done absolutely everything for me. There is no way I'm asking for him to do more." He then simply looked at Kenny. This whole thing started with that question. He might as well answer it. After all, he didn't know what else to think.

The Courage to Forgive

Kendhl straightened at his words. Her mind raced. Ricky was the one who buried her. Ricky had risked his life, going out in the Wildlands to bury her body. For Gale. He'd been the one to take care of her bondmate while she was gone.

"I have to go thank him." She looked at him with a peculiar expression. "Gale, I have to thank him."

The ghost ran towards the door and skidded to a halt. She turned and ran back, materializing for a moment to peck Gale on the cheek. "Love you," she said. "Don't hurt yourself while I'm gone."

She dematerialized and turned again. Her steps were soundless as they carried her through -- not out of -- the door. The wind immediately attacked her Soulmist and pulled her off balance. Despite her being intangible to the living, the elements still affected her just as magic would.

Kendhl's arms windmilled for a few panicked ticks, then she regained her footing and kept running. She'd have to look for Ricky for a while; Zeltiva was big, and she had no idea where he lived. She didn't even know where to start.

The Courage to Forgive

It was quaint how she looked back at him with her sudden straight posture, as if to realize something that should have been there all along. He blinked, eyebrow raising ever slightly. Well of course she should thank him. Ricky was the only reason why he was even here. He would have died if he didn't carry him and that doesn't include all of the countless other things.

But, once again, Kendhl surprised Gale as she darted for the door. However, she wouldn't be Kendhl without any sort of affectionate goodbye. Pecking his cheek, which the tingling sensation made it feel like an actual peck of a bird, she finally glided whimsically through the door and out onto the street.

Blinking silently, his head followed her down the street until the spirit was no longer in view. Once gone, he let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, looking back inside the Quill's Rest and at his spilled cup.

What the heck was that all about? Why did he have trouble breathing? His mind flickered to the drowning in his past. It did feel similar to after he was pulled out of the water... He'll get it checked.

Standing up with a weary sigh, Gale took his cup and the dirty rag and went over to the counter. Refusing to make eye contact with the man, Gale simply mumbled exhausted,"
Sorry for the trouble sir." He placed the items on the counter, digging into his pocket. All he had was change from his interaction with his when he first arrives, so he simply put the silver and copper mizas on the counter. "Thanks for the tea."

After leaving the coin and objects there, Gale simply grabbed his cloak and limped his way out the door.
