Birthplace: Yahebah

The looks

Image Standing 5'7", Ayetah is quite a tall woman with a slender and beautiful figure. Ayetah has very curly hair that's color never seems to be determined. In the bright light of Syna, it is a sandy-colored mess. But when Syna is gone, her hair will sometimes be either a light mocha color or a dark almost dirt colored brown. Her hair falls just to her shoulders in a layer of curls. She has eyes that explode with green and blue color. Literally. Just around her pupil, a minimum amount of blue looks like an explosion happened, following the blue is the green which covers more of the eye then anything else. It's very unique but does not set her aside from the other Benshira people. Ayetah's face is somewhat long with lovely high cheekbones that blush from time to time, a soft pink or rose red. A long and almost perfectly pointed nose that is narrow. Just beneath her nose, puffy pink lips that are always pressed together. Ayetah has dark tanned skin like other Benshira which is smooth to the touch and glistens. She is truly exotic to those who have never seen the desert.

Ayetah is marked by Yahal, so on her back is the gnosis mark known as Ennervism.

Concept

Most of her personality is wrapped up in the god she believes in. Yahal. Through her faith in him, she has found herself to be pure and faithful. She is not only faithful to the god but those who choose to make her a friend and not a foe. As for her purity, no darkness could ever touch her heart no matter how hard it may try and it has tried a lot in Ahnatep. Ayetah's heart has been touched by the god and even toward those she does not know, she will show kindness and a type of gentle behavior that could be mistaken as flirting. Ayetah abides by the laws of the Penita Scroll and does not stray away from it.

Ayetah has a lot of flaws but no flaw is as big as her shy behavior. During her passage to womanhood, she has thrown out all of her childish ways including her outgoing behavior which was mistaken as a trait of a child. If you don't know who Ayetah is and don't make the effort to try, you will not understand why she does not smile often. Yes, she does have a lovely smile but without the right person, it cannot be seen. Another flaw she has is doubting herself. For many years as a slave, she doubted she would ever leave Ahnatep and was too afraid to find a way to leave it. Anyone could make Ayetah doubt herself. But they cannot make her doubt her faith in Yahal for the god makes her feel strong and powerful in a way she cannot understand.

You would think her time in Ahnatep would change who she is and make her forget where she is from but Ayetah has held on to the Benshira in her. Stubborn as a donkey, many believe that it will one day be her downfall. She is charitable and like most Benshira people she has much hospitality. If you get close enough to her, you will see that often. She is joyous and loves to sing for those who care as much about her as she cares for them.

Character History

"I am an old man, blind and unwilling to do what other men can do
I am an old man, yet Yahal has shown me mercy
and gave me a chance to raise yet another child, my sixth child!
While all my children have proved their faith to Yahal, this one...
She will be a bride!
Listen to those pipes, which will one day sing praises!
Look at those eyes, they understand the world already!"

-Malech, from the tents of Akytei, of the sons of Rapa.

ImageAyetah was born to Malech and his second wife, Basalom. After his first wife died from giving birth, Malech did not think he would love again. Not only did he not think he could love again but because of his old age and blindness, he did not think anyone could ever love him. But Basalom, the beautiful, proved him wrong. The woman, who was middle aged by the time she married, loved Malech's aspects and unlike other Benshira men, he did not judge her by her beauty. In fact, he could cared less if she were beautiful or not. Anyways, Basalom was a wonderful mother to all of Malech children from his previous marriage. But she yearned to experience the miracles of birth and to care for an infant (Malech children were all at an independent age). In his heart, Malech new he could not give his new wife what she wanted but he tried. It took them a very long time and sacrifices to Yahal before Ayetah was born. They said when she was born, Ayetah screamed at the top of her lungs. The scream sounded more like a note in a song and the family had hopes that one day she would use her powerful voice to sing to Yahal.

The little girl lived a life slightly different then other Benshira children. Since her father was very old, most of Ayetah's time was spent either with her mother, doing pottery, or with her older siblings. The only time she was with her father was in the early morning, which is when they would pray to Yahal-- her father was a devoted follower-- and at night, which is when they prayed too but mostly told stories of Biyram, his sons and wife and their relationship with the god Yahal. There were times Ayetah would leave the safe haven known as Yahebah with her older brothers and their families to travel the desert and learn important lessons about life as a Benshira. Malech and his wife trusted their sons to take Ayetah into the unpredictable desert where she would learn how to tend to a flock like any other Benshira.

When she would return home, Basalom would coddle her daughter and shower her with love. Ayetah loved her mother just as much as her mother loved her. She enjoyed sitting beside her mother as she either weaved or created pots out of clay to sell in an open market. As Basalom would work, she would sing songs, praising Yahal. One day as she sung, Ayetah chimed in with her own voice and it was very beautiful (she was only five at the time). The family was happy to find out that their predictions about her were true and could not help but rave to the city about her voice.

As she got older, Ayetah's faith and loyalty to the god, Yahal, grew more and more. Barely a girl of twelve years, she became very wise and began understanding why her father was so devoted to the god. She too became devoted to Yahal and did right by him. In the morning, she still prayed with her father but instead of in a tent, she would drag him out to the temple where they would pray for many belles and after they would pray, she would sing. All of Yahebah would come to the temple and listen, moved by how the Shiber would flow off her tongue in harmony. Not only was she a great singer but by the time she was ten, she became a very good reader(thanks to her mother). Memorizing just small parts of the Penita scroll, she would speak the words of Yahal to those who would listen. Like song lyrics, the words of the scroll would flow like a river from her mouth to the listeners.

Why her belief became stronger"Can so!" A stubborn little girl said to her older brother, crossing her arms and pouting. As she argued with her brother, he couldn't help but chuckle. He knew that none of his siblings were like his youngest sister. Ayetah was fierce, ambitious and hardheaded. No matter how much her older brother, Akilam, tried to tell her she would not listen.

"Tending to a flock is not a game little Ayetah, you cannot command these sheep to do whatever you please without expierence." Akilam spoke softly to his sister who was twenty years young to his twenty-nine."I will teach you, so one day you can-"

"I can do it big brother! When I sing, the sheeps listen. They hear me!"The nine year old cleanly cut her brother off in the middle of his sentence. There was much excitement running up and down the little girl's body, you could see it in her little dance. Those beautiful curls of hers, which were sandy-brown in the bold light of Syna, bounced to the rhythm of her feet. As she jumped from feet to feet, she clapped her hands and sung her brothers name,"Akilam, Akilam, please please."She had given him a big and beautiful grin, one she knew he could not say no to. Ayetah was nine but her face told you a different number, one much smaller then nine.

She pranced around him until he had given in,"Alright! Alright!" Akilam said in shiber, throwing his hands up."Take my stick," he handed her a stick,"And my slingshot." He handed the little girl a slingshot and a few rocks."Listen closely little sister as I tell you what to do. Since the cattle and sheep do not mingle, they separate themselves once we've reached a part of the land with green grass. These herds will stick beside their own kind at all times, but if things get out of hand, raise your staff and let them see that you are their leader and they will follow. Got it?"

"Got it!" Ayetah told him in a very loud and powerful voice. Akilam chuckled once again and began walking away from Ayetah. He has been watching the herd for many belles now and suspected nothing will ever happen in his absence.

Ayetah did very little watching and more playing. In her brother's absence, she bothered the sheeps as they ate with her constant petting. She ran around the sheep several times, spooking them as she screamed,"I am Ayetah, hear me roar!" It had taken awhile for her to settle down and even when she settled down, she was still playing, pretending to be a prophetess of the sheep.

The game lasted only a few chimes because Ayetah had grown bored of playing on her own. Watching over a flock wasn't as fun as she thought it would be. How did Akilam do such a thing? She thought to herself. The little benshira then decided to separate herself from the animals, walking toward the only protection from the hot sun the land had to offer, a shriveled tree. She sat underneath the tree and took small glances at the flock of sheep and the cattle. All was well as they munched away on the grass. There was plenty of it and the herd new as well as Ayetah that they better eat as much as they can, for only Yahal knows when the next time they will be able to eat.

Ayetah's tiring eyes moved back and forth between the group of cattle and sheep. When she looked back at the sheep, she had noticed a lamb beginning to stray away from its mother and smiled. Finally! Some excitement! Ayetah watched the lamb stray farther and farther away before finally getting up and chasing after it.

Surprisingly, the lamb was faster then the girl who had much energy to burn off. Ayetah had to go even faster then she already was to catch the lamb. When she finally caught up to it, she wrapped her arms around him and bellowed,"Gotcha little one!"

She laughed and took it back to the rest of the flock, reuniting it with its mother. Ayetah sat back in her spot underneath the tree again and carried on with the new routine she had developed. She would look at the group of cattle then the group of sheep, group of cattle then sheep and so on. She did this several times until a noise from a near by bush distracted her. The noise stopped and she turned back to the flock. Then it happened again.

When it happened again, she was convinced that it was some predator after the flock. Ayetah took the slingshot out and held it in a certain position her brother told her to hold it in. She held the slingshot tightly with one hand and with the other hand she would control where the slingshot slings and hold on to the rocks she would need to reload it. The bush continued to move noisily. There was a lot running through Ayetah's mind. What was behind this bush? Would it kill her? Should she go get her brother? The last question was pretty clear to her. No, she couldn't. By the time she got her brother and came back, something could of happened to the herd.

There was a jolt of excitement, mixed with a little fear. She was excited because she would be able to spring into action. But she was also fearful because she was a little afraid of what was behind that bush. She moved close enough to get a good hit. Quickly, she loaded the slingshot with a rock and began pulling it back along with the elastic part. When she pulled it back as far as she could, she let it go and listened to it whiz through the air before making a loud SMACK noise.

"OOOOOO!" Whatever behind the bush roared, sounding like a lion. Ayetah panicked and put another rock in the slingshot and shot it, then another and another until she was all out.

"Akilam, help me!" She screamed and cried as the bush still rattled. Ayetah cried and cried until the bush finally stopped. The little girl paused and listened to make sure it was finally finished.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, she moved slowly toward the bush until she was at arm length with it. She reached out and separated the branches so she could see what was behind it. And to her surprise, it was not a monstrous beast but a man, dead. He was not a benshira and his final resting position was hovering over a pouch. Ayetah scanned his body to see what had killed him and when she did see it, she gasped.

"Oh no!" Ayetah screamed.

The man's left eye had been pierced by a rock. Her rock. Another one had cut his forehead and the other ones she had shot didn't even touch him.

Guilt. There was a whole lot of it. Ayetah did not mean to do it... she was only protecting the herd! She had began to sob and tell the dead man how sorry she was. Sorry for killing him, sorry for thinking he was a predator and sorry for being an ignorant little girl. She dropped to both knees and closed her eyes as hot tears fell down her cheeks.

"Wipe your tears child and let me put you at peace."
The words were soothing and had come from a man in his youth.

Ayetah opened her eyes to see that she was not in the field of grass but the sandy desert she was very familiar with. In front of her stood a handsome young man with long brown hair. She dared not to look him in the face, for she knew who he might be. Paintings of this very god were seen many times by the girl, so when her tears had dried, Ayetah whispered,"Yahal..." Her voice was strong yet unsure.

"It is me little one and what you've done shall put minds at ease. I know you did not intend to kill young Jacob but it will put his widowed mother, one of my loyal followers at rest."
The god paused and touched Ayetah's face. She still did not look him in the eye, afraid that it would be a sign of disrespect.

Yahal gave the same chuckle as her brother to relax the girl, who was like a skittish animal at the moment. "Your father has taught you well. The blind man is wiser then those who can see. He has taught you how to respect a god and even you, at such a young age, listened closely."

"Anyway, I have come to tell you of your act which was not in vain. Jacob was a thief, a liar and an addict. He has stolen from many people including his mother who has tried her best to turn him on the right path. His mother has worried for many years about her son's addiction. She was afraid that he would dig his own grave too deep."

"Tonight, Jacob's mother's worries will be put to rest. You have saved him from dying in the hands of drugs or someone he has cheated. You have proved yourself Ayetah. You have proved yourself."

When the god stopped speaking, Ayetah felt the fresh mark of Yahal being created on her back and began to cry. But not for the same reason as last time. She cried because she finally understood her father. She understood his love for Yahal even more then she did before."Praise be to you Yahal!" The little girl closed her eyes began a silent prayer to the god and when she was done, she opened her eyes, only to see he was no longer there.

While Ayetah enjoyed her life in Yahebah, singing in the temple and reading the Penita scroll when she got a chance, it did not last for very long. A day after her twelfth birthday, she and her sister went to the market to buy Ayetah's first camel. While at the market, two men approached them, both benshira. They bought the camel and invited the two girls out for a ride outside the walls of Yahebah. Ayetah wanted to refuse but her sister did not. So they followed the men out of the city on their camels. It felt like belles of riding the camels and the young girl grew worried, for each time she looked back, she could not see her beloved city. She was right to be worried too, the men were not true followers of Yahal but darkness. When out of the city's reach, they tied the girls up and put bags over their heads.

It was several days before the bags were taken off both Ayetah and her sister's head. When the bags were taken off, they were introduced to new faces, Eypharian slavers, who would take them to Ahnatep and sell them to the highest bidders. After very long days and nights, out in the scorching hot desert with very little food and water, the slavers and soon-to-be slaves arrived in the sinful city. The minute they arrived at the slave market, Ayetah was sold to the highest bidder, an Eypharian man named Ashab and she was separated from her sister.

Ashab was a very smart Eypharian that dealt with the matters of the palace. He was very wealthy and very kind to Ayetah. He purchased the young girl to take care of his young child, who's mother ran away with an Akalak. Ashab was gone most of the day and had no time to even say hello to his son. Ayetah had to cook, clean and become the little eypharian boy's mother. Though she was very mature for a twelve year old girl, she was not a mother and didn't have the instincts of one. It took time for her to develop any and by the time she did, she looked at the Eypharian child as her own. She called him Hirem, the strong but the boy's real name was Rykell. Ayetah taught him the way of the Benshira, she told him about Yahal. She raised him to believe that the Eypharians lived a corrupted life, only caring for themselves and never doing anything out of the kindness of their heart. Now, when Ashab found out about what she was teaching his son, he grew furious. Ashab approached Ayetah about what she has been teaching his son and she did not deny it and told Ashab that as long as she was enslaved in Ahnatep, she would never stop speaking about the wrong of the city. The Eypharian man couldn't stand having such a slave in the house, so he took her back to the slave market to sell her for much more.

Image
By the time she was returned to the market, Ayetah was fourteen and blossomed into a young woman. While there were many bidders willing to take in a young and innocent girl, only one had won the auction and that was an Eypharian woman named Rayne, who's plans was to take her in and make her a worthy candidate for a palace concubine. It was a hobby of Rayne's, she took girls from the market who had a chance and turned them into "the perfect woman" for the garden of concubines.

Rayne had given Ayetah her own room in her home, bathed her and decorated her in art and dyed her hair with henna. The eypharian dressed Ayetah in jewels and fine clothing too. Rayne would spend much time with Ayetah, teaching her the way of a palace concubine. When Ayetah's voice was discovered by the woman, she decided that it would make her stand out amongst the other candidates and made her practice singing each day. While the benshira appreciated Rayne taking her in and not treating her like an actual slave, Ayetah did not what to become a concubine. She told Rayne that too and the woman just laughed in her face and told her that she was a slave and did not know what she wanted.

The Eypharian was also married. She was married to a a wealthy business owner named Salam, who was very intrigued by his wife's hobby. He took much interest in Ayetah and tried to convince his wife that the benshira was meant for their home and not the palace. But Rayne was just as stubborn as the benshira she was training and did not even consider keeping Ayetah as her own slave:

"I have presented many girls to the Pressorah...
Not one of them has been turned down either.
Each girl I present has her own unique beauty and talent.
I can see it in their eyes... they were not meant to be the property
of anyone but the Pressorah! I pray each day that the Pressorah will
recognize my talent."

-Rayne one night to her husband.

Salom did not waste his time trying to convince his wife. He did waste his time trying to woo the young Ayetah. He would try to offer her gifts but each time he did, Ayetah would turn them down. He made several attempts to lie in bed with her but before he could even try, Ayetah would scream for Rayne who would then scream at her husband. This would happen many times and it had gotten to the point Rayne would lock Ayetah's room up at night. Alas, Salam could not be trusted.

ImageAyetah was seventeen during her last day in Ahnatep, a day she's waited to come for many years. It was the day of the festival of Bala. That same day, her last day, she saw her sister for the first time in years and she was changed. Ayetah's sister took residence in the garden of concubines as a palace concubine. It took awhile for her to recognize her sister because she had changed a lot, corrupted by the jewelry and riches of Ahnatep. Her sister had lost touch with who she was. Seeing her sister, who had lost her values and ways, made Ayetah change her mind about being a concubine. She knew it was up to her to lead her sister back to Yahal and hopefully (somehow) back to Yahebah. After the festival, Ayetah returned home and told Rayne she was ready. The seasonal pageant was coming up and Ayetah was determined to get in and win her sister back. After her conversation with Rayne, she had went to bed and not long after she fell asleep was there a robbery. Men came in and took whatever the family had, including Ayetah.

Once again she was kidnapped and taken out of the city of Ahnatep, traveling across the desert. But this time, it was not by followers of darkness. The thieves, who were very wicked and hostile when it came to their occupation as thieves did not treat Ayetah as a kidnap victim. But they did treat her as if she were a cheap prostitute sometimes, pulling the same stunts as Salom. The poor Benshira had to put up with such behavior for forty days and nights until the first of winter (514AV) which is when she arrived on foreign land, full of tents, known as Endrykas and separated with the band of thieves.

Heirloom: This necklace is very special to Ayetah. She received it on her twelfth birthday from her mother and father. Do not be fooled by the shimmering necklace, it barely has value. It is made out of glass. The necklace has much meaning though. It is in the shape of a heart to represent Yahal's purity and Ayetah's own. Now, what makes this necklace special is that when you hold it over fire or any source of light, the symbol of Yahal would be projected along with a few words of wisdom from the Penita Scroll.

Hello there!

I'm Crosspatch, one of the friendly CS Liaisons on Mizahar! I've been looking over your Character Sheet, and I have noticed some minor issues that need to be resolved and fixed. Sadly these need to be done before you can continue roleplaying, so let's take a look at them shall we?

  • Even if your character has traded in their housing they must still state where they are currently living – be this in rented accommodation, a tent, and so on.
  • As a note, Novice skills are 1 to 25, Competent skills are 26 to 50.
  • Please make sure to check your skill totals for consistency.
  • Just a formality, are you sure you do not want a poor language option?

Once these problems have been dealt with, drop me a PM and I'll remove this intervention and approve your CS for you. Also if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to answer!
