Personality Guide

Ben was raised well by competent parents and shielded from much of the horrors of the world. That is not to say he has not experienced his own losses. He and his family lived through the Djed Storm, which ruined their livelihood and was the main catalyst for his departure from Alvadas. But because of this family oriented upbringing, Ben has very black and white views about such things as good and evil, the undead, the zith, and criminals. His views are tempered with ill-informed assumptions.

That being said, Ben is very adamant about such things as loyalty, truth, and his understanding of honor. He values his friendships and pushes passion into his empathy for them. Indeed, his most valued aspects of life are his friendships.

Ben has lived a sheltered childhood, which has fostered a healthy yearning for adventure and excitement with little regard for real threats. Because of this sense of adventure he will sometimes bend or break the rules.
Example: Ben would not steal anything of value, but he would break a curfew.

Emotions: Bennar is definitely governed by his emotions. He likes to think he is a logical being, but he often bends his logic to his emotions. Though he is capable of discerning the difference at times. Ben has a strong sense of empathy and tries to connect with the people he meets.

Social: Ben is a social being. He thrives on his friendships and loyalty, received and especially given, is very important. He will often seek connections with people and ask them questions about themselves, even for strangers. A fast and loyal friend, he also makes a passionate and spiteful enemy.

Ambition: Bennar dreams of making a name for himself. Fueled by his neglect as a third son, he wants people to know his name someday. He has pursued magic and it’s many uses as a means to this end. (This may change as he matures and finds new goals).

Religion: He has not been strongly affected by religion or the gods growing up, though he has a healthy, if distant, appreciation Eyris and now Zintila. Ben is not prone to devotion when it comes to the gods, but will give a prayer to any god if it suits him.

Magic: The prime enticement. Magic consumes much of his thought and time. Bennar both fears and loves it. He hopes to someday be a powerful wizard in Lhavit.

Introduction: Ben was taught Reimancy after his introduction into the much more docile Shielding. Reimancy was much more personal and traumatic. The ritual of initiation cost him his best friend and ultimately his family. The scars that event caused went deeper than the physical.

Opinion: Because of the horrid first impression of the magic, Ben has the most personal trepidation when performing Reimancy out of all his magics. But he feels that understanding the magic will help him conquer his past with it, and his fears of it. He understands that is it his strongest magic and one he needs to hone and build upon.

Techniques:

• Finger Flame: The wizard exudes a small amount of Res from finger and balls it up at tip, giving a bit of space. After Res is in place, ignite flame. USES: To light a fire or candle, source of light. Novice level(Fire).
  
• Pebble: The wizard creates a ball of Res the size he wants the pebble and turns it into stone/marble. USES: Sometimes weapon, mostly novelty. Novice level(Earth).
  
• Earth Spear: The wizard creates a pointed shaft of Res the size he wants and propels it at the target, in the last moment transmuting it to soil/clay. USES: Sometimes weapon, but mostly mischief. Novice level(Earth).
