Caera Basics Name: Caera Gender: Female Age: Fourty one Birthday: 23rd Summer, 473AV Physical Description Caera stands reasonably tall for a Konti, at 5’7”, and commands the presence of a room with relative ease. Most humans would consider her an enigma, something to be caught, kept, relished, but Caera is in reality no different to many of her Konti sisters. Like them, she has gills that lie flat on her neck when she is out of water, and scales that inch up her calves and peek out the edge of her hairline. Glinting in the sunlight, it is impossible to see Caera as anything other than one of the Konti, as she gives off a sense of other-worldliness. Perhaps different to some of her Konti sisters, Caera’s hair is not the distinctive bone-white, but rather a warmer pale blonde, blending into her pale skin. Her hair reaches to just past her shoulder blade, though she usually wears it in a bun. She has pale blue-green eyes, like sea-grass. Caera can always be seen wearing a silver Undan around her left wrist, denoting her status as an unclaimed Nakivak. Only once has her Undan been gold. On her right wrist is the distinctive mark of the shimmering swirl in opal, marking her as one of Rak’Keli’s healers. Model :

Gnosis Healing 1 Character Concept Caera has spent her whole life living in Riverfall, and as such, has learnt something of practicality and reality from the Rivarians. While the Konti often have no trouble finding a mate, spending so much time amongst the dwindling Akalaks has made her realise how precious and rare life is. As a result, Caera fiercely defends the rights of those who have true hearts to a decent and fulfilled life. She might be a little more direct than some might expect of a Konti, though she is by no means abrupt or rash in her speech. She simply has no patience for skirting around truths. Caera is pragmatic and determined in all that she dedicates her time to, believing that any job she might undertake—whether that be her work, her creative ventures or even her duties as a Nakivak—should merit her full attention. Caera, though passionate about those she believes in, is not necessarily prone to outbursts of emotion, often preferring to enter into rational debate. One thing that always causes Caera to become emotional and hot-headed is the plight of the Nakivak in Riverfall. As one who entered into their service voluntary, she has felt it her duty as a woman of healing to look out for those who have become enslaved or may be abused by some of their Talvis. She is no fool—she understands why the Nakivak system is in place, and has no compulsion to try and dismantle it. However, few things make her more angry than the abuse of her Nakivak sisters. She will forever in any way she can offer assistance and guidance to some of the weaker Nakivak she comes across. Caera is intensely faithful to Rak’keli, thanking her for her gnosis mark bestowed upon her from birth. Caera has always viewed the mark as both a blessing and a symbol of duty, believing that those who have the ability to help have an obligation to do so. She views Rak’keli as a benevolent, guiding goddess, and aims to do right by her at all times. This is why she has, until now, resisted learning any form of weaponry, but Caera, as she grows and becomes less naïve about some of the darker things that happen to women in Riverfall, believes the time may soon come when she has to change that. Konti Gift When Caera touches another person, she can feel which muscles in their body hold the most tension. She feels this in the way of her own muscles warming up where the other holds the most tension. It is a pleasant, warming sensation; however, with prolonged contact, her muscles start to ache and tense up in the same way the muscles of the one she is touching are tensed, Character History A young Konti girl was born in Riverfall to a Nakivak Konti and a slightly displeased Akalak. The pregnancy was an easy one, with a simple birth and no complications, and her mother, having no obligations to hand over the child, named her Caera. Swiftly after her healing seasons had passed, Caera’s mother, Kira, entered into a second arrangement with the same Akalak, Valkis. Her mother moved Caera and all their belongings into Valkis’ home, and though Kira and her Talvis slept in separate rooms and led mostly separate lives, they were close friends with a functioning relationship. Three years later, Kira bore a son, and Valkis, smiling, released the Konti from his service. Kira and Caera moved from Valkis’ home, though throughout their lives, maintained contant with Valkis and his son, Kalit. Caera grew up a healthy child, living in her mother’s apartment after Kira had been released from her contracts. Kira took up sewing, creating gowns for the women of Riverfall in her own apartment, working by commission. Occasionally, Valkis would stop by, pat Caera on her head kindly, and drop a few mizas into her mother’s pocket when she wasn’t looking. It was in this easy way she grew up, playing with her brother when she could see him, learning to speak her race’s language from her mother, and tripping through Riverfall happily. Of course, for a woman in Riverfall, there is an unspoken expectation. When Caera turned twenty, and was confirmed to be fertile by a friend of the family with a gift of fertility-seeing. She realised she had a choice to make. Up until now, Caera had been quite happily working with her massage skills and using her gnosis in Riverfall, and still, she had no desire to change that aspect of her life. But she couldn’t deny that the extra money would be nice, and it had worked out fine for her mother. In 495AV, Her mother, in an attempt to help her make a choice, took her to her birthtown of Mura. While in Mura, Caera learned from her Konti sisters, saw what they could do with their goddess-given gifts. She could not deny they were awe-inspiring, that the city itself was beautiful, but after the hustle and bustle of Riverfall, with the hodge-podge of races and the variety of people walking through the streets, Mura seemed a little slow. Perhaps a wonderful place to learn about herself, but not one where she would like to stay. However, Kira had begun to settle back in to the town that she had not seen since she left on her Call, and Caera could not begrudge her mother the time here. She remained in the city five years in total, learning her arts of healing, learning of flowers and scents and the goddesses, but each year that passed, Caera could not help but ache to return to Riverfall. Promising her mother that she would write, that they would see each other again, she returned to the bigger city in 500AV. Two years later, at the age of thirty, when she would truly be considered a woman by her sisters, she entered into a voluntary Nakivak contract. Desiring a modicum of freedom, Caera decided that she wanted some control over her contracts, taking a small stipend but in return for the right to choice. Even as she felt the silver Undan clasp around her wrist, she felt no form of regret. When she was thirty four, she bore an Akalak by the name of Radron a child—though a daughter. She named her Konti daughter Ra’dae, and desiring her to know more about her sisters, sent her to live on the Konti Isle with her mother. Caera has not borne a child since, though she remains a Nakivak in Riverfall. She practices her art of massage, and waits to be chosen. In the meantime, however, she looks out of the corner of her eye at her Nakivak brethren, and does all she can to help. Skills, Lore, Languages Skills
