Lorden stepped into the dimly-light hall of the Dyres District, closing the hardwood door with his left hand, as he turned away from it. As the knight shut the door, he heard the shuffling of claws against the stone flooring. Smiling, Lorden looked up.

"Sarorus boy, sorry to keep you waiting," Lorden announced; looking the white Deerstalker, that was lumbering towards him slowly, right in the eyes.

"Did I just wake you, or something? I'm ready for a good sleep myself honestly," Lorden said; noting the dog's slumber-encrusted eyes, as he reached down under his snout.

As Lorden scratched the dog's chin, Sarorus's warm tongue snaked between his fingers. Smiling, Lorden bent down on one knee; folding himself in towards the dog, the knight pressed his brow against the top of his deerstalker's head. Sarorus consented to Lorden's hug for but a moment, before walking out from under the man's hold, and lumbering further away from the door of the Archives.

"Your never going to lighten up... are you boy." Lorden stated, a smile on his face. The knight unfolded his legs, and turned towards where Sarorus had walked off to.

"All right, we'll go home, you don't have to coax me," Lorden assured the dog; walking forward as he talked, to take his place in the lead.

As the knight walked past Sarorus, he brushed his hand against the beast for a moment. The white hound allowed his owner to caress him, falling into step behind his pack-member contently.

As Sarorus fell behind his master, Lorden couldn't help but think about one part, of what he'd learned this night, in particular.

I wonder what my mage-brothers could tell me, Lorden thought; speculating as he mused, on what he would be getting himself into, if he did approach such men.

Though, maybe it'd be better, to stick to my sword, the knight thought with a bit of trepidation.

A note to the Grader :
Greetings,

As a note on the items mentioned in this thread, I envision the original version of the book mentioned, as being of common quality, if you were to refer to the price list. The 'treatise' is meant to be little more than a decently written journal, with a fancy title, that amounts to a travel guide of sorts, relating to humanity's achievements. I do use the word 'guide' lightly however, really I see the author as having written about the food he ate, what the city looked like, and most importantly, how the people there 'seemed' to live. Again, the book is a glorified journal.

On a side note, the 'What I've seen of Magic' section of the tome wouldn't really contain anything more than stories, from a non-magic user's perspective. I tried to keep it short to reflect this.

At the end of the day, I just wanted to practice Lorden's copying skill, and introduce him to the concept of magic. I can always make edits, if it's not acceptable.

Also, seeing as Lorden isn't even ranked skill-wise with copying, I'd imagine the copy would have quite a few mistakes as well. I did try to portray my character's proficiency, or lack thereof, in the thread. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read over the thread, and this note. :)

Wishing you a good day,
Nathaniel
