Xii (pronounced Zee) Basic Information Race, Parentage: Mixed Blood, Drykas-Zith Gender: Female Age, Birthdate, Birthplace: 8 years (appearing 11 years; age factor of 4/3 per year), Fall 506 AV, small Zith settlement in midwest Cyphrus Appearance ![]() Height: 4' 11" Weight: 83 lb Xii is typical of a half-Zith child. She is slim and naturally fit, with all the usual charactertistics: darker skin coloring (which sometimes appears to have a greyish tone in the right lighting), long thick dark hair, black eyes, and slight nubs on her shoulder blades. Scars: Xii has a large ugly scar puckering the skin of her chest and belly. The scar involves three diagonal stripes from collarbone to hip, deep old gashes now healed as best they can be. A fourth mark crosses through the others, cleaner and lighter, from her ribs to her belly button. Xii has lines of small, horizontal marks on certain parts of her body, from knife wounds inflicted during her initiation into morphing. There is one such procession of scars extending up the inside of her left arm, from just above the wrist to just under the elbow. There is a square-shaped area of scar tissue surrounding her right shoulder nub, along with a slight weakness of muscle in that area due to damage. Various other scars dot her flesh, but most are inconsequential. Injuries :
Spring 515 AV
7 - 11th "Due to her morphing mishap, for the next 5 days Xii's entire face will remain painfully tender to the touch; a dull, stinging sensation accompanying almost every movement of her mouth, nose and forehead." * 13th - 19th "Xii has Overgiven, and aside from its physical effects on her body, she will also find her mind just as troubled. Headaches will plague her at random for the next 3 Days, and dark, vivid dreams of her body morphing painfully out of control will torture her attempts to sleep for the following Week. ~Xii's nose, after being struck by Clyde's staff, will remain bruised and sore for next 2 Days. ~A blundered morphing attempt upon her hand has left it grossly swollen and difficult to use. Her thumb in particular will continue to give Xii problems for the next Week unless taken care of by a professional. The swelling, stiffness, and pain across the rest of her hand however, will fade completely after only just 4 Days." * Concept Xii often puts on the affectation of a shy child: quiet, introverted, rarely speaking unless spoken to, observant, meek. She shows little outward expression on her face, and keeps a closed sort of body language (except when she's signing or posturing in her second language, Pavi). In general, she is someone that is easily overlooked. Her nondescript demeanor is by design, aided, when necessary, by light hypnotic suggestions. This girl is uninteresting. This girl is of no matter. Time to be looking somewhere else... Typically she sits off on her own, separated from other people. Always watching. That's the way Xii wants it. You may not remember her; she will most certainly remember you. Her true personality, one that not even her own mother fully fathomed, is much more difficult to ignore. While her face remains calm and remote on the outside, the inside is a whole other manner: violent desires and strong-felt contempt are constantly goaded on by Zith instincts. Xii wants what she wants and she wants to take it from someone, and if that someone is screaming, well, that might just be even better. She doesn't like many people, and is more likely to make enemies or light alliances than friends. Partially this is because the things that she likes most she often yearns to destroy. Taught by her father and his colony the animalistic ways of the Zith, taught by her mother the kindness and compassion of the Drykas Opal Clan, Xii finds herself equally willing to help or hurt-- depending on the circumstances and what her gut tells her to do. And, of course, whether or not she thinks she'll get away with it. History Xii's mother was a Drykas of the Opal Clan, a healer of mind and body, captured by a hunting party of Zith while out in the grasslands collecting herbs. The Zith did as Zith do when they found her: snatched her up, took her back to their caverns, fought over her until one was victorious. The victor claimed her as his own, for pleasure and pain and hard work. 9 months later, a pair of twin half-bloods were born. The babies were largely ignored by their father, though sometimes he came and watched over them and, if he was in a good mood, gave them bits his life and his culture in the form of growled-out stories, details of his various conquests and successes. Regardless of his presence, it was up to their mother and the other slaves to truly teach them, to show them their place, and care for them in every way. Through this the children grew. When they were barely old enough to walk they began their real learning: hunting techniques mainly, though much like their father --and at her own peril-- their mother taught them other things. Secret things. This she did while the Zith lay sleeping away the harsh bright sunlight of the day. It was when the twins were 5 years old that disaster struck. It came in the form of a large group of Drykas, wielding spear and sword and arrow. They came in the day, when the Zith were most vulnerable. Most of the family was slaughtered, killing Drykas as they went. Only a few managed to flee. Among those slaughtered was the boy half-blood twin: he approached the Drykas screaming with blood-intent, and was torn down. The mother, the girl twin (who had also been gravely wounded in the battle), and the rest of the surviving slaves were gathered up and reclaimed for the Drykas. They were taken to a nearby pavilion. Afraid that her remaining child would be left in the grasslands to die in consequence of her parentage, the mother kept the girl apart from the others, claiming that she needed to do so in order to heal her wounds. And indeed she did. But as she knit her daughter's flesh back together so she knit her magic, using it to gently influence the minds around them, all to keep the small girl safe. She was able to broker a deal with her people: if Xii behaved as a Drykas and perfectly followed Drykas law, she would be allowed to live. As time passed and the child grew stronger, she too began to use her own blossoming magical talents towards the same end. The magic, however, was not enough. As the two kept apart from the rest of the pavilion, the mother instilled in her daughter --who was ravenous for learning and in other, darker ways-- a facade of impenetrability, of deception. The girl, as she aged, learned to hide her true feelings, though perhaps she learned too well. Her mother died believing that she was near as good as human; but there was another part of the young girl, a hungry, viscous part just under the surface, and that part would not allow itself to lay sleeping forever. It was at the age of six in the Summer of 512 AV, a little more than half a season after her mother's accident, that the girl decided to leave the familiar tents of the pavilion. She struck out with the grudging aid of one of her Drykas clansmen, making her way across the plains, eventually leaving her homeland behind. Her journeys took her far, going where her instincts took her. First she ended up in the city of Syliras, where she stayed for a good while. There she learned to hate the Knights and all they stood for. Eventually, her desire to know Rhysol took her north towards Ravok, joining a caravan of traders who were making their way to the city. All the while she did what she had to do to live, and perhaps what she did was what she wanted to do all the same. In Spring 515 AV, Xii arrived in Ravok. Indre Skyrak (pronounced In-druh Sky-rahk) ![]() Race: Drykas (Opal Clan) Relation: Mother Age: 27 years (presumed deceased Spring 512 AV) Skills: Medicine 24, Hypnotism 26 Gnosis: Rak'keli 2 Personality: Indre (often called Mumma by Xii) was a strong-willed but kind individual who never wavered from her ideals. Despite going through many hardships in life (including becoming enslaved by Zith), Indre was never one to give in to despair. Even as a captive, Indre worked diligently, earning the respect and well-treatment of her master. She believed in the quiet power of hope, goodness, and love. Her fierce love for those under her care, especially her love for Xii, was what most compelled her. History: Indre Skyrak was born Indre Trueshot of the Emerald Clan. From the first Indre displayed an innate ability not for hunting, but for medicine. Due to her talents (and a first mark by the goddess Rak'keli), the young girl was allowed to study under the healers of the Opal Clan. When she earned her Windmarks at age 14, Indre took the name Skyrak (her mentor's family name) and became a healer in earnest. Despite her new allegiance to the Opal Clan, however, Indre kept up ties to her old pavilion. Oftentimes she would request station within the Trueshot camp near Endrykas, in order to tend to the group of hunters living there. At age 19, Indre was kidnapped by Zith and became a slave in a Zith colony. It was there she gave birth to her master's children, fraternal twins, a boy and a girl. She raised the children, and eventually came to love them, despite their parentage. It was within the den of her enemies that Indre earned her second gnosis mark. So it was with a confusing mixture of agony and gratitude that the young woman, now 25, was rescued from the colony. Her freedom cost her son's life, and nearly her daughter's as well; from then on Indre vowed to protect her remaining child at all costs, vowing also to give the young half-Zith a new and better life among the Drykas. Indre and the child, now named Xii in freedom, returned to the Trueshot pavilion. It was during the Djed Storm of Spring 512 AV that Indre likely met her end. Her Strider Dreska, perhaps confused or frightened by the storm, wandered out of the caves that the Trueshot pavilion had come to shelter in. Grief stricken and unable to bear being separated from her Strider again (as she had been for years as a slave), Indre ran out into the storm. She and Dreska were never found, though her people searched for them for many days. Thread List ![]() Flashbacks
