76th of Winter, 514 AV
Lorden took a breath, sliding the dagger into it's sheath, that rested on the oak table before him. Sighing, the swordsman lifted the lupine tooth, that he held in his left hand, up to his face.
Peering at his novice work, the knight rotated the fang in his hand. On one side, there was the crude etching, of what one who knew what they were looking for, would see resembled the wind oak. On the other side of the bone, the block-like words 'remember' were etched.
Thinking back to the day's events, the knight sat the tooth down on to the table, to rest beside the sheathed dagger. With drooping eyelids, Lorden reflected on the craft's meaning.
Our gods might be with their followers, but they sure don't always save us from the fangs of life. I learned that today, Lorden mused drearily to himself. Continuing to stare at the fang, the knight had another thought.
Of course, I'll need to get a leather cord, the knight thought as he raised himself from his seat, leaving the scabbard, and the soon-to-be pendant, where they lay.
Not tonight, though, right now, I really need to sleep, Lorden thought, walking sorely towards the unmade bed, that rested in the corner of his apartment.
