Judgement day is upon her!

Postby Kayia Kiski on February 23rd, 2015, 1:06 pm

40th day, Fall 514 AV.

It had been around 28 days since Kayia had set foot on Sahova. However, today it was finally the day when she could join for the Judgement. The foresight of being an apprentice under the mages here was to say the least exciting. Despite the bad stories she had heard about Sahova, at least she perceived them as bad stories, the place was intriguing. It was dark, eery and filled with magic. Seemed like the perfect place for her.

Kayia had been interested in magic for a long time, but her parents had always refused to send her to the Zeltivan college. In fact, her parents had refused to let her go outside at all. That's why she had to sneak out all the time. But all that was in the past. Her parents were still back in Zeltiva and she was working towards becoming an apprentice right now. All she had to do was show them her best morphing.

”Think we gonna be able to pass?”, the emotionless-seeming Kayia asked, voice almost devoid of emotions. ”We should be ok. We can always push ourselves over the limit, ya know., the other answered. The two of them didn't hate each other, neither did they fight over the control of the body. It was more that they had a mutual agreement where they'd both use the body from time to time. Or they'd switch in emergency cases. ”Then we'll be good. Don't think we can do much else but our best and a little more”

Entering the room, Kayia quickly looked at the judges. While she didn't know any of the names of them, she had to decide who to copy the face off. In the end, she decided on the ugliest face. Or well... if she knew his name, Cryptly. His face looked, well rather offensive but that only served to be a better example for her. It was going to be a difficult job for her to do a transformation like that on the spot, but it would show them the extent of her skill. Not only her magical skill, but also the way she could analyze a face.

”I'll be showing you guys some morphing. Please watch closely.”, she said monotone. And with that she started to channel her djedd into her face. Slowly she started to alter the bone structure, making it more rugged. Her jaw extended and the flesh sagged. Her facial skin colour became darker and greyed. It did cost her a lot of effort to even pull it off. Which showed through the sweat on her face. Her hair shortened and went grey and black. Her eyes fell deeper in their sockets while her irisses turned yellow. Besides that she got two big warts on her face.

A face like this disgusted her, but she thought this was the most sure-fire way to show what she was capable of. Usually she only morphed her hair and facial skin colour. A complete overhaul of her face like this was reallys stretching the limit of her ability. In fact, she was already getting a headache because she was close to, or even already did start, overgiving. Perhaps a full facial change like that wasn't a smart choice.

She let the morph go as fast as she could, and her face started to go back to her original pretty fast. ”Maybe we shouldn't have done that. I'm pretty exhausted right now.”, she said out loud. She didn't realize that the judges couldn't hear her alternate personality. Not that she would care, but then again, she might have payed attention to that. ”Nah, we'll be ok. Here, let me in charge. I'll just push us a bit further and show em our regular morph. I doubt that they will reject us if we show a second despite already nearly overgiving., her inner replied.

Kayia closed her eyes for no longer then a tick, during which she let her alternate take control. A giant grin appeared on her face as she said: ”She showed you guys some on the spot morphing, without much of a plan behind it. It was just some on the spot decision making.” Then again, it was probably the way to impress those judges the easiest. ”I, however, will show you what we usually morph into. It should be over rather quickly.” And while she was saying that, she had already started channeling her djedd towards her head. Her usual auburn hair was starting to turn blue, starting at the tips. This slowly crept up towards the tips from there. At the same time, her facial colour started to get closer and closer to a near ashen white state.

The only problem she had doing this, was the major headache that was developing. She was seriously starting to overgive right now and if she cut off the flow almost immediately when she knew she was done. She couldn't really figure out if they succeeded as both she and Kayia's main personality couldn't read faces. Either they succeeded or not. If not, she was forced to go back to Zeltiva. That was something she wasn't waiting for, as she fled that city to get away from her parents. If she were to return to Zeltiva, her parents would lock her up again and she wasn't sure if she would be able to get out of their home then.

Before she had gone to Sahova, she was locked up in her own home by her parents. They were just too scared to lose face with their friends, because their daughter was crazy. She was gifted, or so they said, with morphing, but her split personality was a concern. If only they had treated her like normal, they might've found out that the other personality wasn't dangerous, only there to deal with situations the main personality had trouble with. Sometimes she could be persuaded to let the alternate on, if confronted with logical arguments.

Elsene learned forward as the second personality began to speak. When the demonstration was over, the entire chamber had silenced. The Nuit in Chaktawe body spoke evenly but with a voice that carried to every corner of the room. “Let me suggest you get your pronouns under control unless you want to be Cryptly’s apprentice.”

The old Dungeon master gave her a weary glance but said nothing else.

It was finally Roknus who spoke up, largely unphased by the demonstration. “You’ve displayed aptitude, it’ll have to do. “ He tossed a small bronze ring across the space between judges and interviewee. “You will have to do much better to raise from Apprentice. Until then, you can work in the Randjaqabase as a courier or whatever Filch and Kromby can find for you to do. Probably sweeping, not my problem.” The reimancer was already turning his gaze on the next would-be apprentice.

Elsene waved Kayia on towards the door.
